Black Myth Wukong Maps Created by Community, With One Able to Be Added as an Overlay in the Game

Black Myth Wukong maps have been created by the community, with one providing a mini map overlay in-game and available now.

excaliburps278d ago

Yeah that overlay thing would be good for PS5 players.

Christopher277d ago

Having one of the web maps on your phone while playing is still helpful. Though, it definitely includes some spoilers just by using them if you like to organically find certain content.

VersusDMC278d ago (Edited 278d ago )

Kinda hate that people on podcasts still call this game linear(even comparing it to FFXIII!?) and a boss rush game...it's big and open enough for people to ask for a map!

Seraphim278d ago

meh, I don't know that it's big and open enough for a map. However, since some of the areas do branch and are somewhat open, a map would certainly be a nice addition. Even a generic mini map would probably suffice. That being said I was finishing up Rise of the Ronin so I've only played through Chapter 1 of Wukong; technically hit the first shrine in Ch 2 last night before calling it quits. At this point though, a map would be nice, but the game is relatively linear and easy to navigate so far.

VersusDMC277d ago

Yeah chapter 1 is Ni-oh like linear but 2 and 3 are more open.

Rebel_Scum278d ago

Bro its linear af. Most stray paths circle round to hubs where everything branches from. There’s invisible walls everywhere to stop you jumping off into the forest.

VersusDMC277d ago

If all the souls games exept elden ring are considered linear then sure it's linear.

Kingrizzy90278d ago

I hate this game doesn't have anything dealing with direction. No map, no compass, nothing

jznrpg278d ago (Edited 278d ago )

I don’t mind not having a map at all. Plenty of older games required you to map it out yourself and/or talk to npcs for directions stuff like that. I actually prefer it that way I hate the quest arrow

DaMist278d ago (Edited 278d ago )

It's so weird that I'm constantly getting turned around on games with maps and constantly looking at the minimap or overlay, yet on this game since I was aware of this, I have been fine lol constantly just recalling landmarks or anything to help and I haven't had a problem. Maybe without a map I'm actually more consciously paying attention to the environments and whatnot? Possibly.

GamingSinceForever278d ago

You’re also possibly completely missing areas with loot and boss fights.

DaMist277d ago

No I'm doing pretty good actually, chapter 3 currently, and went back to chapter 1 and 2 and found new optional and secret bosses tied to side quest I had started. I noticed this game likes to update areas/vendors as you go along. So far so good.

druwepro278d ago

is this game as good as Dark Souls or Elden Ring?
it looks a little bit floaty compard to the weighty movement of FromSoftware games.
please enlighten me :)

Rebel_Scum278d ago

Its a button mash combat game that really requires you to use every spell you have to get by. Bosses range from easy to hard af, there’s some small enemies in etween bosses who are absolute fodder.

Its a great action rpg game. Not a soulslike at all.

druwepro277d ago

ok thx
but does the movement/combat feel "floaty" or "weighty"? :)

IRetrouk277d ago

It feels weighty for sure

Rebel_Scum277d ago

movement and combat is weighty enough.

Rebel_Scum277d ago

Ugh replied to myself like an idiot.

movement and combat is weighty enough.

The Physical Release Of Black Myth: Wukong Performed So Well It Saved Businesses, Says Publisher

As more and more games go digital-only, Black Myth: Wukong's physical publisher says it performed so well that it saved some businesses.

Good to see physical still doing well!

dantesparda26d ago

So fix the performance on PS5/Pro. With up all that ghosting and dithering, improve the performance!

FPSRUSSIA26d ago

it would of sold even more Physical if it released day one but still Great News.

Yi-Long26d ago

The industry wants to push the narrative that physical is on its way out and gamers prefer digital. Fact is that many gamers simply have less and less options to buy physical, so they’re stuck with either digital, or nothing.

Many gamers still prefer physical, especially for SP games. Games without ‘always online’ or other kinds of anti-consumer DRM.

I hope they’ll release a complete edition (physical) for Wukong once the announced DLC comes out.

OptimusDK26d ago

I totally get it, but dont know if i really matters as most games now do not hold the actual game, or at least a very early version without day one patches.

They are often just a licence to download the actual game. Unfortunately it is not like in the old days, if you just had the game you can play the game no matter what.

Nyxus26d ago

That goes for some games but there are still plenty for which this isn't the case: https://www.doesitplay.org/

jznrpg26d ago

Most games are on disc.

gold_drake26d ago

yeh i hate it too, if they'd give us actual numbers on how much it costs to print themz id be more inclined to beliebe it, but otherwise, nah no way.

kayoss26d ago

I try to buy physical PS5 games when possible. Physical add an extra cost to the developers. However, the fact that digital cost the same as a physical version of the game makes no sense to me. The only games i will buy digital are Nintendo Switch games, those cartridges are small and i lost/misplaced a few already.

senorfartcushion26d ago

Every game that sells well "saves businesses" nowadays - based on how many studios suffer layoffs due to a game not skyrocketing to success, that is.

Popsicle26d ago (Edited 26d ago )

I waited for the physical release to purchase this. If it didn’t get a physical release I had already made up my mind that I was fine skipping it.

I know I am fighting a losing battle because an all digital future is inevitable, but I only purchase physical and will continue doing so.

kayoss26d ago

You will be surprised. Games are getting bigger in size and we all know that console dont provide you with that much hard drive space. I know you can just delete the game from your harddrive to save space and re-install whenever, but me having a physical insure that i can install anytime i want, even if they they take the game off their digital stores.

ravens5226d ago (Edited 26d ago )

Exactly. I do the same. Only digital games I have are from ps+, and I don't consider those owned. As soon as I don't renew, those games are inaccessible.

Leadership Spotlight: A Conversation with Phil Rosenberg

"it’s a story that I’m sure won’t go away any time soon"
It might if you'd let it

danno_omen63d ago

We don’t control who suddenly decides to bring it up in interviews lol

lukasmain63d ago

It's pure speculation on behalf of the author of this opinion piece and it hold no weight at all.

InUrFoxHole62d ago

@lukasmain
Im curious how you can make that comment when he specifically mentions Blackmyth? No weight at all? Either...
A. You can't read
B. You're letting blind loyalty take point
C. You just didn't read it
D. You're trolling

pwnmaster300063d ago

There really wasn’t no suggestion.
Just pure speculation as usual.

Lightning7762d ago

It's in the interview. He said it.

lukasmain62d ago

He never suggested a special exclusivity deal. Far from it. The author is just speculating.

Lightning7762d ago (Edited 62d ago )

@Main I quoted Rosenberg at the bottom he said it himself on the interview that him and guys go out and find hidden gems. This interview wouldn't mean much but Black Myth was supposed to release simultaneously along with the Xbox version unfortunately, it didn't. Got taken off and GS said it was the S. MS said there was a deal in place. If he's going out and finding niche or "hidden gems" BMW should of released only on PS5 since its considered a hidden gem that could only be played on PS console just like the rest of the other games he mentioned. The game was announced awhile ago as a multiplat. The S of late has been holding its own with third party and 1st party games. It's also clear that the S did have issues for awhile also and maybe GS really can't optimize for the console. I'm just exploring every possibility.

Hmm, I dunno at the end of the day. The S has been performing well optimization wise lately. I dunno it's hard to tell anymore what's, what.

-Foxtrot63d ago (Edited 63d ago )

There is no way in high hell Sony would pay money for this, something so successful and not advertise it as an exclusive console game. There's just no way, they've done it for everything else, why would they not do it for this.

It's people who can't let a story go, there's no deal, they just probably supported a new Chinese studio with their China Hero Project and give them tools to help develop on their console. If Microsoft came along and offered them the same tools early on for their console I'm sure Sony wouldn't bat an eyelid.

Sony took a chance on a new studio early on and they benefitted from it, that's their reward.

….. for the world’s most boring game

1Victor87d ago

And we would’ve getaway with it if it wasn’t for those pesky kids games.
Congrats to NT on their 11 nominations I wish them good luck 👍👍

Beautiful game, love the series, and the character!

Well crafter and well done.

Toecutter0087d ago

Good. The game is unique, heartfelt, and beautiful. Yes, the mechanics are rather simplistic. But the teams dedication to storytelling is on full display. It's definitely not for everyone, but it won't disappoint those who appreciate video games that push the boundaries of the medium.

Alos8887d ago

More like pushes the boundary of how short a game can be while still charging fifty quid

InUrFoxHole87d ago

Love the game. Beautiful looking, game play was solid and it didn't over stay it's welcome.

PrinceOfAnger87d ago

Good game with the best graphics and animation I've seen this gen. They need to focus more on the gameplay though if there is HB3.
