Indiana Jones and the Great Circle PS5 Version Confirmed for Spring 2025, Xbox Releases December 9

It seems the rumors are true! Bethesda's AAA in-development game Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is headed to PS5 in 2025.

darthv72289d ago

Very cool. I'll play it on XBGP and buy it physically for PS5.

Why did they announce this BEFORE it was released on XB/PC? Might as well do a simultaneous release.

garos82288d ago

its incredibly stupid of them

shinoff2183288d ago

I'd guess to give ps players a chance and time to pre order.

purple101288d ago

You know why it’s coming later on ps5

Could it be due to that clause where Sony says any game released after September must have a ps5 pro version

So now they gotta develop for that too?!

shinoff2183288d ago

That's the plan. I still would've preferred 3rd person but it's not like I haven't played first person before

darthv72288d ago

3rd person would make it more Tomb Raider / Uncharted-ish, which is ironic considering it was the Indiana Jones series that inspired such things like Tomb Raider and Uncharted to begin with. I think it will be good in first person and remember it will switch to third for certain situations.

-Foxtrot289d ago

And there it is...

Pandora's box was opened and any of their games are possible now

Starfield will come eventually once all the DLC is out, then Blade, then Elder Scrolls VI or a new Fallout until one day their final cards could possibly be their big hitters from Halo, Gears of War, Forza and Fable...maybe not their newest games but old remasters or collections.

It's possible, it's not a matter of if but when.

excaliburps289d ago

It's insane. This means Starfield on PS5 is all but a certainty. Gears franchise too maybe? Daaamn.

Hofstaderman289d ago (Edited 289d ago )

Emergence day is very likely as it would make perfect chronological sense to introduce playstation players to the franchise. Wouldnt mind the collection before that though.

RaidenBlack289d ago

If they consider Gears as well, then hope they remaster the Gears trilogy and release it on PC and PS as well.

fr0sty289d ago

If you watch the gears reveal trailer, it mentions nothing whatsoever of platform exclusivity at the end.

S2Killinit289d ago

I dont think starfield did well enough for the developer to take the risk on other consoles, it would very likely be a flop now that people know it wasn’t all that special.

bloop289d ago

Nice spot fr0sty. Gears is without doubt my favourite online shooter of all time but I couldn't justify dropping €500 on an Xbox last gen for just one franchise. If they made an announcement on Gears it would make my year. Be nice to have Forza too though. And Elder Scrolls......... and Fallout of course. Indiana Jones......... meh. What we've seen so far ain't selling it to me.

Chevalier289d ago

Outer World's 2, Fable and Avowed maybe too

shinoff2183288d ago

I still believe it'd sell really well based off name. Plus the majority of players don't know

helicoptergirl289d ago (Edited 289d ago )

Playstation was and is the best place to play. It has the most games by far for console.

Xbox is failing to sell and MS doesn't care. They are basically a 3rd party publisher now, just a matter of time before more and more games release on playstation. Xbox is just a gamepass box. Good luck with that

1Victor288d ago (Edited 288d ago )

@obscured: “Phil might keep you all in the dark, though.”
Phil will keep us in the dark, though.
There I fix it for you.
The lubricant is wearing down faster than we thought, at first was “ It’s only old franchises “ now it’s going to be a 6 months exclusivity by the time the next halo, gears or forza get released it will be same day consoles and PC and 3 years after the next console is released (assuming their sales stay the same as this console) if it’s not scrapped altogether Microsoft will announce NO MORE XBOX CONSOLES. 😘

i'd love to play gears. just never got around to buying a xbox for it. also i own gears 5 for pc but like it's hard when you don't got the original 3 to play. hopefully this news makes microsoft remaster/remake the original 3 or four for pc or ps5. i'll buy it for either or.

jznrpg289d ago

I didn’t care for the third game. First 2 were pretty good though

bloop289d ago

3rd game campaign wasn't great, but had the best multiplayer out of the trilogy. Can't remember the name of the entry that came after that but it was awful.

Profchaos289d ago (Edited 289d ago )

Honestly just don't bother with 4 or judgement pretend they never happened.

Story wise though the first 2 games were the best IMO

I've got no doubts that we will see these legacy games getting ps5 ports in time as collections or remakes e.g heavily rumoured halo ce remake is coming to ps5

--Onilink--289d ago (Edited 289d ago )

I dont think the floodgates are fully open, at least not yet.

This is still quite the mainstream IP so I see why they would port it. I was more surprised by the length of the “exclusivity”, thought it would be closer to a year.

I’d also say Flight Sim 2024 and Starfield are pretty safe bets for 2025 ports.

But I can’t really say I see Gears E-Day, Fable, or Perfect Dark making the jump (or at least not that quickly after release). Halo Infinite is in the weird position that it could really use the player boost, but from an IP perspective it also feels like the one they would argue the most internally about porting or not.

Forza also feels like a 50/50. Horizon 5 is old enough already and Motorsport doesnt have the same impact it had before (plus it could also use a player bump), so it could go either way

Elder Scrolls and Fallout I definitely see in the same scenario as Indiana Jones. Day 1 GP and PS5 port a couple of months later

Profchaos289d ago

There's been some big leakers behind the rumour of a halo ce remake going to ps5 which honestly makes sense of you're going to port a franchise to a new player base it's hard to kick off at the 6th game in a long running story

Lightning77289d ago

Some believe it's due to a Disney deal but I dunno if I believe that because Sony permanently kept the game off Xbox.

Maybe MS didn't want to do a permanent deal and opted for a timed deal for the game. Either way I'm sure Machine Games are excited about it. More money from them.

Xbox fans ooff I'll buy y'all some tissue boxes.

If Gears Halo went over then RIP to Xbox. In every possible way. I dunno if I can see them go that far but it's MS that pivot every week or two

Profchaos289d ago

That Disney deal was the same as the Sony Spider-Man deal you need to make a game and sell X copies or you owe us a penalty so true could be Microsoft saw the writing on the wall and needed to put out a ps5 version to meet sales expectations

helicoptergirl288d ago

This is fun to look back over. An obscure someone saying to you "You'll never get it" meaning the games you said will come one day to Playstation.

https://n4g.com/news/258544...

GamingSinceForever288d ago

Forza doesn’t make sense because of Gran Turismo. I’d be surprised if Sony even allowed that to release on PlayStation.

ocelot07288d ago

Sony wouldn't ban it from releasing why when they would get 30% each sale. GT is a racing sim. Forza is a arcade racer. Other racing games exist on Playstation. The crew motorfest, Asseto Corsa, Test drive for example.

itsmebryan288d ago

I think Microsoft has a great idea. It gives Game Pass value by allowing you to play games day one at a low monthly charge and then, six months or a year later, get all the money from PS5 owners.

It makes perfect sense. This is a business, and they are tapping into a new revenue stream. It is the same as Sony putting its games on PC. When they see all the money Microsoft makes, how long will it be before Sony games besides MLB come to Xbox?

Einhander1972288d ago

$20 dollars a month isn't a "low monthly charge" it may actually be the most expensive content subscription. (it's significantly more than PS+)

If they release 3 games a year (don't hold your breath) that's $80 per game. And you're paying whether you want the game or not.

all marvel games are multiplat after Spiderman and wolverine, I did about 2 hours reading on it,.!

blade was never-not coming to ps5, xbox may have marketing rights on it though

tay8701289d ago

Last I had read insomniac was also making an xmen game as well, that's not going.to be multiplat.

purple101289d ago (Edited 289d ago )

I think it maybe?

What I read was it’s actually a marvel thing where they Won’t license any IP anymore after seeing the successes of Spider-Man,

But obvs if those deals were made before they will stand, which is why wolverine is exclusive

so that tells me either x-men deal was made eon’s ago, or it’s multiplat

Remember insomniac actually made a oculus rift exclusive game, so it’s not out the question they would develop for other consoles / pc. Does seem strange though yes

crazyCoconuts289d ago

Not sure what multiplat will mean 5 years from now if Xbox doesn't actually do exclusives anymore. They've been struggling WITH exclusives. Does MS really expect to keep making Xboxes without them?

I know it hurts. But you know that´s the truth. You know PS5 gamers gonna have to pay full price for our day one games on Gamepass.

You know that Phil is laughing knowing that MS will be making big money out of multiple platforms. You know all that money will turn into investment for more first and third party day one games for us.

You also know that Xbox games on multiple platforms will "steal" those platforms player base enhancing MS´s MAU metrics, since you need an Xbox account to play those games.

Those are the actual facts.

Phil is laughing??? The only people who are truly laughing is Playstation gamers. We don't need to get a PC or Xbox to play Xbox games. Xbox gamers feel pain deep in their hearts. You included. So many previous submission where you said certain would NEVER come to playstation. You were wrong. You are trying to act like you don't care, but we all know deep down you really do.

Playstation gamers and MS corporation are the real winners

EDIT - I will say, Grounded game is a 10/10. I played it for nearly 400 hours on Playstation. Love it

RauLeCreuset288d ago

"Do you have a video link to Phil laughing about making big money out of multiple platforms?"

I do. Here it is!

"I believe right now one of the biggest risks to Xbox's survival, is that Sony paying teams to keep content off Xbox.

"[Shipping games on PlayStation] enables them to use the revenue they make from our content to sign 3rd party exclusive games to block from our platform.

"They can use revenue from the games we ship on their platform to block Xbox's survival. I feel like I'm enabling an aggressive competitor to further our aspirations.

"Every time we ship a game on PlayStation, going back to the 70-30 split, Sony captures 30% of revenue that we do on their platform. And then they use that money among other revenue to do things to try to reduce Xbox's survival on the market."

Read more: https://www.tweaktown.com/n...

My bad. That's evidence of Phil testifying that putting games on PS is detrimental to Xbox and its survival on the market. Kind of the opposite of beneficial to Xbox gamers. I know. Not what we're looking for. That's on me.

Let me try again. Ask and you shall receive!

"Indeed.

"Doesn´t make sense at all! Specially when Satya Nadella himself is boasting amazing numbers post ABK´s acquisition, telling everyone how Xbox is now Microsoft´s third biggest business!

"I can´t believe that Phil made his way all the way to the top, just to turn his back on Xbox gamers."

https://n4g.com/comments/re...

Darn it all to heck. What's with me? That's not evidence of Phil laughing either. That's evidence of Obscure agreeing with someone who said putting Indiana Jones on PS would be "an extremely shortsighted decision," declaring that doing so "doesn't make sense at all" while in disbelief that "Phil made his way all the way to the top, just to turn his back on Xbox gamers," over six months ago when it was still raw before he fell back in line and started conning himself with spin about how this "shortsighted decision" is actually a strategic long play to the benefit of the Xbox gamers Phil turned his back on.

RauLeCreuset288d ago

You flipped from arguing Xbox releasing "big flagship games on competition´s consoles to damage and devalue the Xbox brand and its console itself, only makes sense in the mind of people such as you" to these "facts" you're using to spin this as a win for Xbox.

[begin quote]

"I'll repeat my statement."

Your "statement" means sh!t!

You´re free to live in lala land for the eternity like all delusional bozos that were expecting Xbox to leave the console market to become a third party publisher for Playstation.

Sarah just confirmed that a new and *POWERFUL* next gen Xbox console is in development so to release big flagship games on competition´s consoles to damage and devalue the Xbox brand and its console itself, only makes sense in the mind of people such as you.

I mean, if Microsoft adds three games a year and you have to pay $20 a month your paying $80 per game whether you want them or not. $70 with a choice to buy what I want and have a disk that I can keep actually seems like the better value to me.

https://n4g.com/news/258544...

ocelot07288d ago (Edited 288d ago )

I'm 50/50 with you on this. The reason being we simply don't know what there next hardware is. There where some credible leakers a month or so ago saying the next hardware from MS is going to be licenced. So anyone from Dell to HP to Lenovo could release a version of it.

This to me sounds like MS is moving away from traditional consoles. It's sounds like the next hardware is going to be some form of PC (like the Steam Machines) or another handheld PC that's very popular right now. Market it like a switch play on the go or connect to a TV. Download games from Steam or epic or windows store or GOG.

Of that's the case. Then that's a pc and not a console. At the point Microsoft just wouldn't care about Sony and what they do with playstation. If playstation is still selling in the millions they will release what ever they can on it. Same goes for the next Nintendo console.

That's just my opinion. But if it's a traditional console. Then like you say I can see them holding off on IPs like Halo and Gears unless things become really dire. Or they may do what they are doing with Indiana and that's release on Xbox and pc then 6-12 months later release on playstation and Nintendo.

However, They have already released a MS created IP in Sea of Thieves. If games like Forza, Age of empires do release on playstation in the next 12 months like they are rumoured to. I genuinely think it won't be long until we see Gears and Halo on playstation.

@Kornholic

"It's a shame that Xbox players don't respect games and game culture enough to support them."

You should take your concerns to the devs who gets fat checks upfront and supports Gamepass with their games in the first place, not the gamers. Gamepass is not for free, you know?

I pay, they provide. It´s simple as that. I´ll enjoy my games on Gamepass for as long as I can. I´ll support the games that aren´t available on Gamepass as well, but I refuse to be ripoff by a company like Nintendo and their insanely overpriced products. My money! My rules!

@MrDead

"You should be thanking the people that keep the industry alive by buying games, the fact that MS tried to ban multiplatform publishers from their biggest console market is detrimental to the industry."

Now they´re making games and making big money out of everyone and your lame rhetoric was destroyed.

And yes, you´re right. Xbox gamers should thank PC, Nintendo, Mobile and Playstation gamers for support Xbox gamers while funding and making those games available to us day one and making XGS a better, more profitable and financial stable for Xbox developers.

Kornholic36d ago

@Obscure_Observer

Lmao, you don't have the courage to even reply to the commenters directly anymore.

Kornholic37d ago

Since the majority of Xbox players absolutely REFUSE to buy and pay for games, it wouldn't be even possible to make these types of big budget games without releasing them on PS5.

It's a shame that Xbox players don't respect games and game culture enough to support them.

ThinkThink37d ago

If I'm supporting the game and studio by paying for it via gamepass, I'm not also going to buy the game on top of that unless it is about to leave the service and I want to finish it. That would be like subscribing to Netflix while going out and buying Stranger Things box set on bluray.

Kornholic36d ago

@ThinkThink

That's just the thing - you AREN'T supporting the games and the studios by using Game Pass. That's the whole point. I can't believe you had the audacity to actually type that comment. Absolutely crazy work.

ThinkThink34d ago

Playstation making BIG money out of Xbox nation this year.

Zero work, zero costs, zero risks... just collecting gold.
Just like with Sega and other big third party studios 🙌

dveio37d ago

And it's not just that 30% cut only.

Imagine if there's just one person saying:

"Mmmh, Indiana Jones is now on PS5. I just wanted to buy a new console. Oh, look here, Forza on PS now, too? Oh, what's that - Death Stranding 2 only on PS5? I guess I'm gonna get a PS5 then."

These are the decisions that lead to quarterly financial reports seen in the last one.

When Playstation made almost double the revenue of what Xbox did, with increased, even record hardware sales and profits.

It's not just that "30% cut".

lukasmain37d ago (Edited 37d ago )

Yes and some people don't seem to understand, the more consoles Playstation sells (because more people choose PS5 because of this), even more money they make because these people don't just buy these Xbox games on our console, they buy ALL 3rd party games across the board and Sony gets money from ALL of them. Sony is making a killing even more now. Some people don't realise just how much of a big massive WIN this is for Sony, now that MS put their games there. Just more 3rd party games that Sony gets a big fat chunk from. More games for all the users to choose from and Sony just sits back, on top of releasing their own games and the 2nd party games too. Sony is laughing. MS is laughing. Playstation gamers are laughing. Xbox gamers get what they've always had, their GamePass to continue unimpeded.

But they dont get Sony's games and we get all theirs, that's the kicker lol

ravens5237d ago

raWfodog37d ago

That's a weird take on it since Oblivion was also released on PS3 back in the days, but okaaay. We know what you're trying to do LOL.

It's really no surprise that a publisher is taking advantage of available platforms to release their games on. I mean that's what EA, Ubisoft, and Activision (before becoming Xbox Games) have always done. It's poor business decision otherwise. This just means that Playstation is the best place to have access to all of the great games.

Now that Xbox fanboys have accepted that xbox games will be released on PS5 (and Switch 2), Microsoft will be able to release them on Day one from now on. Just had to get people to swallow the pill.

I really gotta say I am a bit curious about E-Day.

With hardly any sales anymore, wether hardware nor software, probably not even subscriptions in a quantity they would want to have:

Is Spencer going to pull the trigger and bring Gears D1 on Playstation?

Yeah, it's funny how some Xbox fanboys thought it would be a cold day in hell before Xbox first party games would ever release on PS. Then they kept moving the goal posts back each time a game came over to PS ("it's okay for that game, but it will never be this game, etc."). And now it's "We're making money ever time PS gamers buy our games, Yay!"

The very definition of "Cope".

It’s what a good game from a good franchise deserves.
I still think it would have done better if it came out on PS5 day one.

That's my guess, too.

In hindsight, it's really been a bold decision to not release it on Playstation in a month like December.

But instead back in August already to announce it's going to come to Playstation, then proceed to make it a weird "4 ½ months timed exclusive", and then to release it in a time with so much competition/big games being around.

Isn't this just weird?

I mean why would you do that, purely from a business point of view speaking.

Well in reality Microsoft probably wanted to release D1 on PlayStation but probably made the decision late in development... remember in an interview Spencer said, just a few months earlier, that the game would not be coming to PlayStation.

So this is probably the result of a bunch of 'inside baseball'.

The result is that Microsoft is on pace to dominate PlayStation sales charts for the month of April and May. It's great for Sony too as they get a windfall of platforming fees from a former competitor.

All in all this is good for both companies and even better for PlayStation consumers that get access to PlayStation exclusive games like Death Stranding and Ghost of Yotie on top of games like Indiana Jones, Forza, Doom, Oblivion, 33, and GTA all in the same year.

Well, yeah. Nothing to disagree with you.

Although, as far as "dominating Playstation charts" goes:

We'll see. I have nothing against anyone dominating anything.

But this term of "domination" shouldn't be used too losely I suppose.

Indiana Jones was #1 best-selling game in a single week (so far). Let's see how Forza went.

And after May we'll have better numbers, or even after 2025.

I guess it's safe to say Clair Obscure already surpassed Indiana's sales on PS5.
