someone call the veterinarian, Microsoft are flogging a dead horse ( Starfield )

Obscure_Observer318d ago

Not so dead in the minds of people like you.

Besides, Shattered Space is coming and from what I saw, it´s gonna be awesome!

Xbox is just bringing the freaking games!

dveio318d ago

It's still an IP they just bought.

I wish Starfield and everyone working on it all the success they can possibly have.

But for me personally, Microsoft had nothing to do with it except buying it out and making it a console exclusive.

Again, because I assume you won't accept this: I wish nothing but success for it.

But I'll always wonder how Xbox fans can be proud of Microsoft simply buying IPs out, only because they themselves had nothing, literally nothing prepared.

DivineHand125318d ago (Edited 318d ago )

@dveio All 3 companies buy out games and keep them off other console platforms, so let's not pretend that only Microsoft does it.

Sony has kept FF games off Xbox, made timed exclusivity deals with Bethesda games as well as made deals with multiple 3rd party publishers to have exclusive content for PlayStation.

After the Bethesda acquisition, news broke that Starfield was originally going to be a PS5 exclusive.
https://www.gamedeveloper.c...

Nintendo bought Monolith games and has used them for multiple different projects. For them, that was a good investment, but for me, who can't play any of the Xenoblade Chronicles games on my PS5, it leaves me wondering what the game would be like on a more powerful system.

@dveio

"But for me personally, Microsoft had nothing to do with it except buying it out and making it a console exclusive."

"Nothing to do with it" except by the fact that according to Todd Howard himself, MS allowed Bethesda two extra years of development over the original release schedule. Not to mention all the post-launch support by allowing 200 developers to continue and deliver monthly updates, new DLCs, yearly expansions, mod support and more.

Whatever future holds for Starfield, it will be achieved thanks to MS´s acquisition and XGS´s support.

"But I'll always wonder how Xbox fans can be proud of Microsoft simply buying IPs out, only because they themselves had nothing, literally nothing prepared."

Oh... but we certainly proud of Bethesda as part of XGS, no doubt. It was Todd´s choice to become part of the team Xbox since Bethesda always had a closer relationship with Microsoft anyway. It just natural according to his own words.

That said, we´re also proud of Gears of War, South of Midnight, State of Decay 3, Fable, Perfect Dark, Clockwork Revolution, Flight Simulator 2024, Age of Mythology, Towerborne... you know, those upcoming Xbox Studio games which has nothing to do with Bethesda or ABK.

"Again, because I assume you won't accept this: I wish nothing but success for it."

I believe you. Cheers.

Hey, look at you...using your main account.

I guess the other 50 alt accounts were getting tiring to make.

fr0sty318d ago

"Sony has kept FF games off Xbox, made timed exclusivity deals with Bethesda games as well as made deals with multiple 3rd party publishers to have exclusive content for PlayStation." - Sony doesn't buy entire publishers with multiplatform games in development only to make those games exclusive instead.

darthv72318d ago

Frosty... that's because Sony didn't have the $$$ that MS does. I can guarantee you that if Sony had the money... they'd do the same damn thing.

Don't hate the player, hate the game.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of Stalker 2. I'm mega-hyped for that game.

RaidenBlack319d ago

and maybe Clockwork Revolution & Contraband as well

Lightning77318d ago

Highly, highly doubt those games will get shown off.

Obscure_Observer318d ago

"and maybe Clockwork Revolution & Contraband as well"

Those will probably be shown at the next year´s Xbox Showcase among (hopefully) Everwild, Project Dragon, Project Mara and The Outer Worlds II.

RaidenBlack318d ago

meh, would like MS to request Obsidian to freeze Outer Worlds II development temporarily and assign them to Fallout spin-off development after Avowed's launch
Obsidian can resume Outer Worlds II work after the spin-off's launch

Obscure_Observer318d ago (Edited 318d ago )

"meh, would like MS to request Obsidian to freeze Outer Worlds II development temporarily and assign them to Fallout spin-off development after Avowed's launch"

The great news is that MS doesn´t need to request Obsidian to "freeze" anything.

It might be news for you but, according to Daniel Cabuco´s (Art Director) Linkedin page, Obsidian is already working on their new project among Avowed and TOW, so there´s a chance you mighty get what your heart desires.

Hell yeah post apocalyptic gems are always welcome we need more of them

PRIMORDUS319d ago (Edited 319d ago )

Boo them off the stage, disgrace to the gaming industry. MS GTFO.

thesoftware730318d ago (Edited 318d ago )

Rumor is Avowed will get delayed to early 2025, not because of any technical issues, but due to STALKER 2 being delayed. The reports are saying it's to space out games, as their GP holiday season is packed already.

RupeeHoarder318d ago

packed with what? Avowed moved because of Indiana Jones? I remember when 2024 was supposed to be the year of Xbox, again.

jwillj2k4318d ago

Even a broken clock is right twice a day. The year of xbox is on a floating time table.

Obscure_Observer318d ago

"I remember when 2024 was supposed to be the year of Xbox, again."

Even if the rumors are true, Xbox still packed with games! So yeah, 2024 is the year of Xbox yet again!

Hellblade2
Flight Simulator
Towerborne
Age of Mythology: Retold
Ara: History Untold
S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2
Indiana Jones

And before you ask, Xbox also got 2025 and 2026 on the lock too.

Come the new Xbox console in 2026 or 2027, we´ll still have tons of games to play on Series X/S.

thesoftware730318d ago (Edited 318d ago )

Gp games,

Cod: 6
Flight Simulator
Towerborne
Age of Mythology: Retold
Ara: History Untold
S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2
Indiana Jones

Outside of GP
SF Expansion(outside of GP)
and standard monthly releases
3rd party games.

Like them or not, that is a lot for the next few months.

PSN Store "Remasters & Retro" Sale Kicks Off

Sony has launched the PSN Store "Remasters & Retro" sale that discounts The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered for the first time.

OtterX4d ago

That's great, Oblivion Remastered already on sale! Think I'll jump in.

I feel like Lunar Remastered should have been included on this one too though.
