Capcom USA Says No To Monster Hunter G Wii And Awesome Controller

"Unfortunately, this time the news is of the bad variety. Capcom's (here we go) Corporate Officer/VP of Strategic Planning & Business Development, Christian Svensson clearly ruled out any possibility of a Monster Hunter G release in the U.S. or the awesome themed Classic Controller that comes with it. Says Svensson, "You'll have to get it from an import shop. Neither MHG or that controller is coming to the US. Sorry. :(". Sympathy appreciated Sven."

Checked to see if it was a duplicate first, but saw that it wasn't so I went ahead and posted it.

Sadly the news is really a heart breaker to any monster hunter fan who was awaiting for Tri~ or perhaps this title. Whether they wanted G for the reason of the controller or simply to just get their hands on a console based Monster Hunter game; it seems like we will have to wait for tri~ once again :(.

I didn't want MHG anyway. Its just a PS2 port/cash in.I'm going for MHTri which is the key debut

It would have been a good test of getting more people interested in the franchise. (They really could have released 1 and 2 and I would have bought them, especially since we never got dos~). Not only for the controller, but the Demo of Tri~ as well. Being that tri~ is still up in the air, and we only have one console based Monster Hunter game it would have been good start for some people to get used to the controls.

Also it would be good if it had the same setup as Monster Hunter Freedom(1 and 2) have where you can import your save data character to the next installment of the series. If Capcom plans to release both Uno~ and Dos~ before Tri~ then one could have a great start.

I know most people don't like ports all to much on the Wii being that their are so many already out there, but in the case of Monster Hunter and the fact that it was only on the PS2 with servers shut down it would have been nice to at least see it. Also meh, if it's merely for cash that's well in good, though their were a few things changed in this version from the original if I remember (Ability to send stuff automatically to your box, which wasn't in uno~)

All I'm saying in a nutshell is I never got a chance to experience a Monster Hunter game on a console and would have loved to give it a try on this. Love it on the PSP, but kind of want to see the monsters on a bigger screen as well as a bigger controller, navigating on the PSP hurts after a while (Use my thumb for the analog and index finger for the D-pad)

I really wasn't planning on picking up Monster Hunter G. Looked like a terrible port and a definite cash-in. I did want the classic controller though. Shame. Looking forward to Monster Hunnter 3 though.

It isn't going to release in America so suddenly everyone doesn't want it anymore? I'm not a fan of the game but that is funny. Besides, isn't this game for the Wii and can't the Wii play games from other regions like the PS3? I thought the 360 was the only console where you couldn't play imported games.

PoisonousPoison5580d ago

Actually a lot of people didn't want it even before it was announced being that it was a port. Mainly people wanted at least the controller that came with the game. No the Wii is region locked. Plus their are still a few people who do want it, but just won't get it because they would have to either A. Mod the system, B. Do a homebrew type of thing, or C. get a freeloader (similar to one that was used back in the Gamecube - just bigger disc and all that stuff)

BrotherNick5580d ago

Hehe, I may have to resolder my wii and import it for the controller.

kunit22c5580d ago

Yeah i seriously dont care i wasnt planning on buying this anyway i only care about monster hunter 3(tri) that game is NEW not a port and has better graphics and actually has room for improvement were as with this game its a complete port so i dont care. Unless they said that Monster Hunter 3(tri) wouldnt come out in America then i would care and i would be mad and think they made a mistake.

PoisonousPoison5580d ago

Yeah, I was mainly looking at Tri~ as well but figured, hey might as well try G being that I've never tried it in the past. Sadly would have liked to get it for mainly the controller and perhaps the demo?

Also as to Tri's~ north american release date, I think one of the contributors to the project said they are unsure as of now and if enough people say "I want it" then they will send/make the N.A. version.

Starts at about the 1:40 mark (it's actually a few seconds before he starts talking about the overseas version)

and I really enjoyed God of War 3, sounds interesting to me!
Doubt anything can match those two games in my opinion though.

If you like those type of game, you might like Sangoku Basara 3 too. It's coming out on PS3.

Baxy-Z: Monster Hunter Tri Preview

A portion of a Baxy-Z preview:

"Monster Huntrer Tri may be some of the best online play to look forward to on the Wii for years, which, if true, I would hope brings in more new players than those brilliant cutscenes from the advertisements. It's about time the Wii got a good online romp. Stay tuned for more MH3 on Baxy-z in the near future."

I hope there is some lockon feature i don't understanbd because that damn camera is hard to work with otherwise... I totally get the appeal of it... I'm glad i preordered this. That new controller is gonna be sick and at that price I simply can't resist. Only 10 more bucks :D

Myst5123d ago

Nope, no lock-on never has been never will be it helps with the difficulty of the game though :). Anyway yeah it takes some getting used to and I had to play a total of 12 or so times before getting completely used to the camera controls and this was on my Classic Controller. The Pro model should be a lot easier and more interesting.
