Changes in Forza Horizon 4's Festival Playlist and Delisting from Digital Stores

Due to licensing and agreements with our partners, Forza Horizon 4 will be delisted from digital platforms (Microsoft Store and Steam) on December 15, 2024. This means the game and its additional content will no longer be available for purchase through online stores.

Wow, these games get pulled waay too soon. This is why I buy the complete editions on Steam out right instead of Gamepassing them. I can still play my Forza Horizon 3 (Australia still being my favorite location), and after this pull, I will still be able to play my Forza Horizon 4. For all you Gamepass folks, you better jump on it soon!

I only recently bought Forza Horizon 5 Complete a few months ago. I'm still yet to play it, but I'm glad I've got that secured in. These games are a blast to play w a proper wheel. As if XBox didn't already have a sparse enough lineup of true exclusives. These and MS Flight Simulator are the real draw for me.

Did you not read the article?

"Starting today, June 25; Forza Horizon 4’s DLC will get delisted from platforms, meaning that only Forza Horizon 4 Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate versions will be available for purchase from this day until delisting happens.

From this date forward we will offer different discounts for Forza Horizon 4, like the one currently active on Steam (at the time of publishing); we will also have a sale in the Xbox Store on 7/14."

Forza Horizon 4 Duluxe and the Ultimate version will be on sale starting from 14th July 2024, until it's delisted on 15th December 2024.

Did you not properly read my comment?

I said: " For all you Gamepass folks, you better jump on it soon! " As in, you have until December to pick it up if you still want to buy it and keep it forever. After that, it's gone.

My comment was directed at Gamepass players who aren't buying games anymore. This is why it's better to just buy them outright earlier on when they're on sale.

I'm going to file your response under, "No s***". Read better next time, please.

Tacoboto312d ago

Otter, file your own comment under that, too. If Game Pass players want to own it, they've already had years on top of the next sixish months.

How is it even better for them to have bought outright earlier? Lol the game's gonna be on sale the rest of its life.

The game has been out for 6 years.... what is taking you so long if these are a draw for you?

fan_of_gaming312d ago

I hate how so often we get zero notice of a delisting. At least this time we did get notice for the game, but we didn't for the DLC which is already gone. I have the physical Ultimate Edition but I was missing the Hot Wheels Legends Car Pack which wasn't included in that. Luckily I was just able to buy a code for that DLC from a key website and it activated fine.

Einhander1972311d ago

So much for that digital preservation they were talking about.

Also being removed from game pass, so if you were playing it there and bought dlc you need to buy the game again if you want to keep using your DLC.

theindiearmy311d ago

I think you need to read the article again. If you played on Game Pass and bought DLC, then you will get the base game for free.

Einhander1972311d ago

You are right, at the very bottom of the article,

I was wrong about the DLC, but still it's not a good look after they talked so much about game preservation.just a few months ago to be removing and delisting this game.

Xbox’s Game Preservation Hypocrisy - Forza Horizon 4

In June we learnt that Forza Horizon 4 was the latest game to suffer from delisting due to licenses expiring (happening December 15th 2024). While the game is discounted to encourage people to pick it up, Microsoft could go so much further with this.

If the game is online or has on disc DRM, you don't own it. Simple as that.

GreekHobo153d ago

"Why are you booing me? I'm right!" (c) Hannibal Burr.
I don't why are you getting these dislikes, cuz you're right. The only digital store where you own the games is GOG, cuz you literally get install files.
It's been shown multiple times, that activation servies (or DRM if you wanna call it that) on disks tend to go down. All these zoomers downvoting you don't remember GFWL and other crap.

GamerRN153d ago

It's likely due to music and car licenses

gold_drake153d ago (Edited 153d ago )

the biggest issues are definitely the car brand and music licensing in the game.

Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, wants better game preservation across the industry, per Axios.
Spencer wants to see legal emulation, allowing players to access any older games.

They need to sell this franchise to Sony so it can be handled properly.

Sir, have you ever thought of doing stand up? You're hilarious.
Should I remind you that GT7 is a live service online only game?
Should I remind you of Sony hiding (until recently) some older PS1 games behind PS Plus highest tier paywall?

rob-GP153d ago

"Sony hiding (until recently) some older PS1 games behind PS Plus highest tier paywall?"

You do realise that it was Capcom that decided to only allow their games to be accessible via PS Plus, and not bought, right...

Sony had literally nothing to do with it, otherwise you'd see other games - such as SIE published titles - doing the same thing.

Reaper22_153d ago

Sony probably can't afford it...lol

gold_drake153d ago (Edited 153d ago )

the biggest issues are definitely the car brand and music licensing

However.
if you know that will be an issue down the road, make better deals.

this will definitely be another huge issue for FH5

HellspawnPR1981153d ago

Does the author knows the car manufacturers put limitations to their products license?

Forza Horizon 4 Optimized Settings: Best Graphics Settings for High/Low-end PC

Forza Horizon 4 is among Microsoft’s late-release successes after it was rolled out on Steam. It is among the most-played PC titles with a concurrent player count of nearly 76K. The game plays and feels much like its successor, Forza Horizon 5, except it’s set in Britain.
