Ghost of Tsushima's Crossplay Patch Has Somehow Ruined the Game with Stuttering

A new Ghost of Tsushima update has introduced a nasty stuttering issue. Patch 2.19 released just hours ago, primarily adding crossplay support ahead of the PC version's launch on the 16th May. However, there are widespread reports that the PS5 and PS4 title is now borderline unplayable, with players encountering regular hitches, stutters, and freezing all across Jin's adventure.

Sucker Punch - "We have resolved a backend issue that was causing gameplay to consistently hitch for players.

This does not require a game update, but we recommend restarting your game or console to ensure you have the fix."

Dfooster360d ago

I restarted the console twice. Re-downloaded the game and the stutter was still there. Having said that it did clear after about an hour of frustrating gameplay.

Should this article be removed or marked as Failed now? Even the headline in the article itself is updated.

Great job on them fixing it up so quickly.

neutralgamer1992360d ago

I own it on PS5 but can’t wait to enjoy it on PC. Never got around to playing it on PS5. Sucker punch are one of my favorite game developers (still hoping for another infamous or at the very least infamous 1-2 Remastered collection)

HansyJ359d ago (Edited 359d ago )

😂 Buys a game on the console it’s meant for but chooses not to play and instead spend full price to buy the game again on a different console that will play the game the exact same but probably not as good considering it’s native for PS five. Strange ppl

Skuletor359d ago

Unlocked frame rates and support for ultra-wide (21:9), super ultra-wide (32:9), and triple monitor (48:9) aspect ratios are two major differences I can think of.

neutralgamer1992359d ago (Edited 359d ago )

Hansy

I keep buying more games and never getting around to playing them. Nothing against it being on PS5. I am a PlayStation fan but recently moved to PC gaming and IMO it’s better (tired of micro transactions on consoles)

Mods and single player game cheats are awesome on PC. (I miss the days of cheat codes but kha available on PC)

"ruined the game"....

a bit superlative there. the game isn't "ruined", its got a bug. bugs can be fixed. when something is ruined, it is no longer usable permanently.. software is hardly permanent and can be fixed 100% of the time. so while it may be unplayable for some right now, and that's annoying, it isn't ruined... unless they leave it... which they obv won't.

Sony Aims to Optimize PlayStation's Development Projects to Consistently Release Hit Games

Kneetos262d ago

Hopefully this means they are going to stop laying off staff members then

BlackTar187262d ago

Why don't you just stay in the SOnic and Mario threads? Your comment history makes it obvious you hate Sony.

Kneetos262d ago (Edited 262d ago )

Well maybe if they didn't pull stuff like this I wouldn't hate them, stop trying to award them a free pass

The playstation fans here fly off the handle whenever Nintendo releases a game for $60 (for some reason), yet the so-called "video game industry leader" lays off hundreds of staff and we are just ment to shut up and consume apparently

Kneetos260d ago

You clearly haven't read my comment history, the only times I've complained about Sony is when they have been indulging in mass layoffs, which, how are you guys ok with that?

You do realise that all these amazing, world class video games Sony are making, and in this thread, promising to keep making come off the hard work of the very staff that Sony are fire-ing, why are you trying to defend them?

Lol I’m not defending anyone I’m pointing out you’re a shill

We're all shills, that's why we're here, you're no better

Oh wow, I totally forgot about Bungie's 'Marathon' and did actually confuse it with 'Concord' over the last several months thinking to myself "Wow that game looked so promising when it was announced and now it turned into this."

Man, just had to re-watch that trailer again now of 'Marathon'. Looks so good & interesting in its art style.

However, I am getting a little bit nervous about the "in order to consistently and continuously release hit titles.”

I mean no doubt about it - I wish the PS Studios to do exactly this.

But I also just wish they keep their cool.

Don't they rush things, don't they crunch ppl.

I really wish for the PS Studios to have a great working atmosphere and that Hermen Hulst knows better than Ryan about not putting studios under pressure.

S2Killinit262d ago

Watch concord blow it up. Most of the hate for that game is by people that didn’t play the Beta.

FinalFantasyFanatic262d ago

Nah, it's dead in the water, I can't see how that game can succeed without major changes to the gameplay, and even then, those terrible/forgettable character designs are going to hold them back.

I'm predicting a flop at best.

TheNamelessOne262d ago

It had an open beta and nobody wanted to play it. What makes you think they'll now pay $40 for it?

S2Killinit262d ago

Actually, those that played it had a positive feedback, but then the negative press caught up. I wonder if they will be able to tank it, or if it can endure the initial pre-emptive bad press and come out serving crow for dinner.

PapaBop262d ago

I was excited to get my hands on it after it's first reveal, played in the betas.. there is certainly a lot of positives for the game but there is also a lot of negatives. The game isn't ready for release, not by a long shot. There is some great ideas there but just doesn't come together. None of the modes in the beta really pieces all the strings together in say the same way OW did with their limited but focused game modes. Then stupid things like having the character's pronouns on every character screen is akin to slapping jam on your testicles and dangling them to the anti-woke mob.

If they can't even get high numbers for an open beta, how are they going to get people to pay £40 for it? I actually enjoyed it enough that I'd buy it if it was going to take off but there is no point as it's almost certain to be featured in the ps plus monthly games before the year's end.

Elda262d ago

It'll be a flop. Most PS5 owners are not paying $40 to play Concord.

Wasn’t that the plan before?

Lightning77262d ago (Edited 262d ago )

It is. They're factoring gaas titles which is why things are being slowed down the past year or so. Sony has never done gaas before from a first party standpoint.

We all know if they never went gaas it would be buissness as usual from most if not all their first party right now.

Have you ever seen God of War, Horizon, Death Stranding, or FF7 go from 16:9 on PS to 32:9 on PC? Its like a totally new experience! 120FPS helps too.

yet be it on console or pc aloy will never be in the center of the screen that always got to me.

Oh and the framerate drops on ps5 never played H2 on pc yet.

But yeah you can not beat pc for the xess/fsr on any game with any card and that ultra wide when a game support's it.

I have been enjoying some days gone native 4k maxed out at 120fps locked.

Eonjay303d ago

Nixxes is really off the charts with their PC support. Honestly Sony made a really good choice by purchasing them.

Fishy Fingers304d ago (Edited 304d ago )

"Major" exaggeration but sounds fancier than "improved upscaling over FSR3"

The actual interesting thing with FSR3.1 is theyve decoupled the frame gen so you can use it with a better upscaler, DLSS (useful if you dont have a 40 series).

Tacoboto304d ago

I'd say it is pretty major though. Five Nixxes titles in one day, their entire PS5-PC portfolio including their earliest port Spider-Man Remastered.

It's rare seeing a unified approach like this covering years of titles. Nixxes must have an incredibly thorough and consistent tech stack to pull this off

Fishy Fingers304d ago (Edited 304d ago )

Agree. Impressive support.

Although im sure you actually understood what I was saying. Its an decent incrimental update to AMDs upscaling software which is arguably the worst of the big 3 solutions. Native, these games still look better, as they do with DLSS.

Tacoboto304d ago

Oh yeah I upvoted you too, totally understand what you're saying (and I know my framing of "major" is different than the article's)

just_looken303d ago

It shows what a real port studio is unlike iron galaxy

I agree its rare but i also see it as a sad situation with the millions/billions made we should have seen this with many many other games in mass updates. But sadly only a few games are using 40 series tech then fs3 can be used on any game but the big features are per game dependent its like come on now.

Atleast when you see nixxes you know your getting a quality port.
