Anaerobic Jar
An anaerobic jar is a sealed container used in microbiology to create an oxygen-free environment for the cultivation of anaerobic organisms, those that thrive in the absence of oxygen. It typically consists of a glass or plastic jar equipped with a tightly sealed lid and a mechanism to remove oxygen from the air inside the jar, such as a gas-generating pack containing substances like sodium borohydride or pyrogallol that react with oxygen.
