Very nice. Im sure many may start a new game to experience it all over again in better performance. I just did the same with FO3.

Obscure_Observer18d ago

New game for me too.

That black power armor from Enclave and the new Tesla Cannon looks badass!

GamerRN18d ago

I've had 60fps on Series X already since it launched. Is this different?

Tacoboto18d ago

Maybe try reading the article, or even the description below the headline.

That 60fps is the system-driven FPS Boost, this is a full current-gen optimized release making its way to PS5 too alongside other updates impacting all versions.

--Onilink--18d ago

In terms of performance, not really. FPS boost was already getting the game to 60.

But they are adding some other fixes and adding some stuff for free from the Creation Club

darthv7218d ago

Yes. It is native Series X upgrade instead of using the XBO back compat game with FPS boost.

GamerRN18d ago

Ok, so it'll be 60fps just like before, with the same 4k upgrade it already had.... Got it

Tacoboto18d ago

Maybe not. That's a wait-to-find-out. FPS Boost on Series X runs in the One S mode as opposed to the 4K One X mode. It could be that the new Performance Mode is actually tweaked to the new consoles instead of the base-last-gen mode, and Quality should obviously be improved over that One X mode.

GamerRN18d ago

Fallout 4 stays 4k in fps boost mode...

Tacoboto17d ago

No it doesn't. It runs in the One S mode.

GamerRN17d ago (Edited 17d ago )

Ok, maybe, who knows

GamerRN16d ago

I love how people are such Richards when you ask a question... Why can't gamers just be helpful? Why do people feel it necessary to be so mean instead of just answering a simple question?

Tacoboto15d ago

You attempted denying a fact, after you asked a question that's literally answered in the description of the article.

Who's the Richard, the one giving you the right answers or the person not bothering to read?

It's such a good game. Still play it on pc every so often years after release. Can't wait to try it on ps5.

VenomUK18d ago

Will the PS5 version have DualSense updates?

I know Sony mandates that PS5 games must have but I don’t actually know if a PS4 game updated to PS5 also counts.

ocelot0718d ago

Not to sure. I hope it does that would be great.

I also loved fallout vr on pc. I hope they bring fallout 4 vr to psvr2 but I doubt it.

ZeekQuattro18d ago

You'd think after damn near a 4 years people would stop calling current gen next gen. I know 2020 was an unprecedented year but damn. 🤣

Profchaos18d ago

Agree IGN still run a next gen console watch for machines we've had since 2020 it's becoming a joke

isarai18d ago (Edited 18d ago )

I dunno, with how slow of a start this gen has been compared to others, i kinda get it 🤷‍♂️

Fallout 4 from PlayStation Plus Essentials Can Be Upgraded for Free

After fears the free upgrade would be limited to the PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium version, and Bethesda Softworks removing mention of the upgrade being free for all, it turns out PlayStation Plus Essential owners can get the upgrade for free. - IS

Super happy to see this was eventually resolved for PlayStation Plus Essential owners as well!

darthv7210h ago

Bethesda addressed this the other day. There was no fear... just impatience.

P_Bomb9h ago

Expecting something to work at launch is impatience?

admiralvic8h ago

They said they were looking into it, followed by only giving news about Extra, and then editing out the “free for all” message. You don’t think all of this wouldn’t give some reasonable doubt?

How Bethesda Fumbled Fallout 4's Sudden Popularity With The Next-Gen Update

Fahad from eXputer: "Bethesda rolled out a messy next-gen Fallout 4, ruining the experience of many new and returning players after the TV show's success."

RaidenBlack18h ago

Fallout London would've been the perfect return gift for Fallout fans after watching the Prime show

EazyC1h ago

Bethesda could have kicked them some cash about a year ago and collaborated to make it a full scale thing

Profchaos1h ago

I think they chose right 4 was the most accessible fallout to date however I really wish 3/NV got some switch love or psvr2 ports

MrDead24m ago(Edited 24m ago)

They didn't fix the major bugs that have been plaguing the game since release and they broke mods and every modded save. Good work.

Fallout 4's next-gen upgrade launch could have gone better

Digital Foundry writes: "It's all a bit baffling. Patch notes describe a 4K 60fps performance mode, a 4K 30fps/40fps quality alternative (depending on whether you are running on a 60Hz or 120Hz display) and a 1440p ultra settings variant. This seems to have been delivered for PS5, but there are problems with Xbox Series X. The performance/quality mode toggle does not work. The evidence suggests that Series X is locked to performance mode only. Disabling this on Series X doesn't seem to change anything - and visuals are notably cut back not only up against PlayStation 5's quality mode, but also against the Xbox One X 4K 30fps back-compat variant you could play last week."
