PS3 Fanboy reports that: Kentaro Yoshida, one of Q-Games' studio directors, has confirmed in an interview with GamaSutra that a new PixelJunk game will be with us soon. Sooner than PS3 Fanboy anticipated, in fact. Yoshida says that "a new team has started in on the next PixelJunk project. PS3 Fanboy have not yet begun publicizing the game, but it is on schedule to be released in early 2009." That's now!
It seems that the game that was announced at GDC 2008, PixelJunk Dungeons, will not be the fourth in the series. It requires more development time and, as a result, will be released at some point after PixelJunk 4. Whatever that may be. Yoshida also states that "2D graphics have been a hallmark of the series so far, but we are looking to incorporate 3D graphics and take the series in new directions." An exciting prospect. Hopefully a 3D PixelJunk will retain the charm of the 2D versions.
PlayStation Universe had the opportunity to have a nice chat with Dylan, to try to get to know the man behind the curtain. Turns out that he’s not that different from any of us; he just lives in Japan.
See why Dungeons hasn't been heard of, and if the company has plans for the next PlayStation console, or a $60 retail game.
Man, if they can pull off PixelJunk Dungeons that'd be incredible. A dungeon crawler made with QGames' creativity?! I'm there!
Don’t expect future PixelJunk titles to force you to go out of your way in order to get 100% trophy completion.
TheGamersHub writes:
"The PixelJunk series is made by an amazing group of developers at Q-Games. We got a chance to talk with them and ask them a few questions regarding, their ideas and how they came up with such innovative games such as PixelJunk Eden."
Yay.
I think that sums it up.
Great game and I'm looking forward to seeing what this new one is all about.
