Is an uncapped 30 FPS a big deal?
Dragon's Dogma 2 may have only recently been released, but it needs to get a sequel sooner rather than later due to its unofficial remake status.
Capcom's action role-playing game, Dragon's Dogma 2, has been struggling in terms of sales, even in the presence of discount offers.
Dragons dogma 2 is a good game. The biggest mistake Capcom made was allowing it to launch at 30 fps. When the game came out, all anyone was talking about was the performance of the game. The game has a dedicated fanbase and they should have given the sequel of the original the care it deserved.
Theyy did eventually improve the performance on console but many still do not know if you can play the game at 60 fps on base PS5 and Series X or if they need to buy a $700 console to enjoy this one game.
I'm a big fan of the first game, and 2 was fun first time through, but the game really could use more in the way of replay value. Still holding out hope they release a DLC similar to bitterblack isle but I'm not holding my breath.
PS Store Staff: "We've announced the 2024 annual download rankings for PlayStation®Store! We'll be introducing four rankings in total: PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, PlayStation®VR2, and free-to-play titles. We've also included the annual rankings for the United States and Canada, so be sure to check them out as well.
The number one spot on the PS5's 2024 annual download ranking is the second of the remake project trilogy, "FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH," in which you escape the Mako city of Midgar and travel through a vast world! In second place was "Dragon Quest III: And into the Legend...", and in third place was "Dragon's Dogma 2."
I might wait to play this on the PS5 Pro
For those visuals, yes. It should be 4K/60 with a game that looks like it's from 2017 or earlier. More than enough games out I'll get it when the Pro is out.
Sadly PS5 does not have much headroom, if any, to brute force poor optimisation. If indeed thats what it is, bad optimisation, or perhaps the game is very CPU bound.
There are other games like Spiderman 2 and Forbidden West, which look better and run at 60fps, but I assume those games are more GPU bound.
Either that or its poor optimisation, and people shouldn’t have to be like “I will just wait for PS5 Pro” to make up for developer shortcomings.
From how the game looks on PC, the recommended requirements seem pretty high too, so seems like its just poor optimisation on the developers part.
Always give an option to lock the framerate, which looks like this game doesn’t have, which is baffling.
Sadly not all developers are on equal high footing when it comes to talent, effort levels, when it comes to optimisation.
Just hope this isn’t some sort of bad sign for the PC port.
Yes it's a deal breaker for me. I won't be buying this game until it's at least 50% off and i suggest others do the same. We need to shows devs releasing barely optimized games won't be tolerated.
Since it is uncapped, I may want to play it on PS5 Pro
