Pretty sure I read the developer say it was about 50/50 although I wouldn’t be surprised if it were more on PC because the PS5 install base is still growing.

Games are starting to do better on PC than console, slowly. Pal world did better on PC even SF performed better on PC. I know quite a bit of ppl switching to PC now days.

I own the consoles and I'll always be a console gamer but can't ignore PC and it's influence.

ChronoJoe444d ago

Pal world isn’t surprising when you factor it’s only on one console and that one platform is g selling all that well.

PS5s too, there’s only 40m units or so sold so far. It’s doing well but on Steam there are almost 100m users. The only way you’d get higher or similar console numbers would be either multiple platforms or at the very least multiple generations of hardware (PS4 & PS5).

There’s a lot of speculation about what this breakdown all means. The sales performance and format ratio of this one game is not enough to interpret as confirming a shift in the industry away from console, it might simply be that Hellfivers II resonated most with a PC audience. We simply need more sales data from more games.

SyntheticForm443d ago

While consoles are very convenient and getting better, you can't ignore the power and the freedom that a PC affords. I've been playing Helldivers 2 on PC and it's been great.

S2Killinit443d ago

Its not on PS4. Its only on PS5. So it makes sense.

Christopher443d ago

I mean, the market reach alone on PC tends to push heavier on these type of games let alone most others. But, yeah, PC co-op games are big and there's the largest market for them there. PS5 sold well, but they are winning like crazy on PC.

I saw it as PS5 players care more about single player experiences while PC gamers are more about multiplayer.

Becuzisaid444d ago

For me it's care more about single player AND dumped ps+ for lousy offerings and increased sub price.

blackblades444d ago

Na he said its close or some other word close to that. They are around ball park of 50/50 but isnt actually 50/50 so this 60% could be the actual number.

helicoptergirl444d ago

The headline is slightly misleading. The "insider" in question said specifically that his info was for Europe. But it's basically 50/50, give or take few percent

repsahj444d ago

So 2.3M players are on standby, waiting to connect. Hehehe.

Lexreborn2443d ago

I got it on pc, I was able to get it just slightly cheaper there. I have been considering getting it on ps5 as well but I got rebirth instead.

For me if a game is cross play I’ll likely get it on PC. If it’s a single player experience on pc and console I’ll likely get PC because it’s cheaper. If it’s exclusive it goes without question where I’m getting it

Plague-Doctor27443d ago

He said it was 50/50 like 4 days into release. Been nearly 2 weeks since then so I wouldnt be surprised if the split changed over time

Kiryu1992443d ago

That’s good because games selling on multiple platforms means more money for developers next games

Babadook7443d ago (Edited 443d ago )

Most likely the reason PlayStation hasn’t sold more is simply due to a certain timed exclusive juggernaut named Rebirth.

That normal, a larger user base on PC.

blackblades444d ago

Yeah after seeing palworld numbers, there's a lot of them 7million sold on steam alone weeks ago. I'm curious if Sony would change positions later on when PC start taking there players from them. If they really gonna go the 1st day and date and put everything there the people that has both gonna find no use for a PS

Amplitude444d ago

I dont think it can be considered "taking players away" when Sony makes the money no matter where you buy it - albeit with a 30% cut on PC.
Even if exclusives stopped existing (which likely won't happen) a console is still much more appealing to an enormous market for the subsidized console price, ease of use, and feature-sets.
Personally i'm all PC this gen but there are moments where I really wish I kept my PS5 even for multi-plats.

blackblades444d ago (Edited 444d ago )

@Amplitude
Yes consoles will still be there for good part of the market. As I said which you just confirmed that PC can take players from PlayStation aka less system being sold as my meaning and you just said you sold your ps5 and went PC. 2024 you never know what will happen, people could start flocking to pc and have all in one system and have a Nintendo system only

purple101444d ago (Edited 444d ago )

Well Steam has 120 million monthly active users. and only there are only 50million ps5

If that needs explaining to you, I don’t really know how else to help

CantThinkOfAUsername443d ago

The majority of this number are playing F2P games. But online multiplayer is a popular genre on PC so this makes sense. Now let's see what Forbidden West does next month.

ZycoFox444d ago (Edited 444d ago )

Wonder if there's stats for what hardware the majority of players were using, be a bit of a junk experience if using lower end stuff.. But I mean at least there's plenty of variety of games that suit lower end hardware just fine.

Actually, just checked, you can get away with a lowly 2060 & a 9700k or 3700x and 16 gigs of RAM for 1080p 60, not an issue then for lower end gamers. https://www.playstation.com...

Snookies12444d ago

Got mine on PC. Mainly because it's a shooter. Anything I need to aim in, I go for keyboard/mouse. If it didn't have crossplay, I would have gone PS5 though for friends.

Sony accidentally leaked a Helldivers 2 trailer! Even though it was quickly removed, some players managed to save it. What do you think?

Nice promotional video! Honestly, HD2 is more enjoyable than MHWilds. Yes, some of MHWilds boss fights are epic, like the Tempered Rey Dau, but HD2 chaotic war is like a movie. It only needs epic boss battle maps, and I will return to it again after I get the platinum of MHWilds.
