Helldivers 2 Review - Not Enough Patriotism [Wccftech]

Helldivers 2 is broken at launch. That much is almost unquestionable. The game has many high highs and also abysmally low lows.

Stopped reading when complaining about difficulty. I've played a level 9 mission alone, it's far from impossible. The only issue is connectivity. Maybe a balancing issue on the one automaton mission where you escort the workers. Other than that to complain about difficulty is silly when they have lower difficulties, play those. 🙄

They did adjust it last patch but I haven't tried it yet.

lol, I kind of noticed that on here. Suicide Squad is appalling for being GaaS, but Helldivers 2 is amazing. Makes sense to me… I think…

It’ll be interesting to see how people feel next-year when the Sony GaaS initiative goes full force. I hope they’re all exceptions to the GaaS formula because if this is successful we’ve opened the doors now.

@CrimsonWing69 in theory, Helldivers 2's success should prove that the "exception to the rule" should become the rule. Meaning Helldivers 2 hopefully sets a new precedent for GaaS games with how it handles mtx. You don't have to pay a single dollar to get everything in the game, it is very easy to earn everything for free.

I'm not a fan of GaaS because it usually means the quality of the game will be poor and they are just trying to cash in. But when a GaaS is fun and isn't stuffing MTs down your throat I can spend hours playing it with friends.

Honestly, I have absolutely zero interest in any form of online gaming and have been this way for at least 6 or 7 years. Due to my fondness for the first game, I ended up trying the sequel and I havent looked back. For me, it's the way the weapons feel and the feedback from the sound and crazy animation on the damage you are dealing, it just makes you feel like a complete badass.

I thought my online multi player days were long gone, but boy am I hooked. Its been so long that I find myself thinking about a game when I am not playing it, amazing!

Have you had any issues getting in the game? I was hearing some people haven't been able to get in. To be fair, I don't think they anticipated this many users to have jumped on.

How does the Live Service element work? Are you constantly grinding and they entice you to buy resources to make the grind easier?

I personally, just have no interest in games that follow that Live Service model. I'm glad people are enjoying it though, there's going to be plenty more of these next year.

I haven't felt compelled once to make any purchases above my initial purchase of the game and I have bought nearly every weapon/stratagem just by playing around 40 hours of the game.

I would had my 1st issues with getting in last night and had to give up, but I have been fine tonight. Hopefully the issue is resolving itself.

It can be very punishing on solo runs, particularly when fighting automotans. It's not impossible I managed to finish 3 solo runs consecutively and I suck st MP games. Lol

Games to hard at the highest difficulty levels, lol. Why shouldn't it be difficult at level 8 or 9 or whatever? Maybe you will have to use your brain a bit more and strategize before diving in (pun intended). Makes its it feel great when you escape on the extraction ship.

It's a great game...when you can get in.

It shouldn't be given a free pass for launch issues just because it's a PS console exclusive.

If this was any other game having issues where gamers can't play, it would be dragged through the mud. Should've had an offline mode from the start like HD1. Been stuck at the login screen for hours now.

You can easily solo the game if you know what you are doing. Also, the game is just fun. Server issues aside, most fun I've had playing a game this year.

Looks like this guy wasn't interested in Helldivers until it blew up. Now they have to deal with all the server issues because the servers are strained. Week after launch the game was running fine if you turned off cross play and was flawless. They would know that if they didn't review for clicks.
