Review - Go Mecha Ball is a unique game that mixes genres that probably shouldn’t ever be mixed; it turns out to be highly successful.
This curious mash-up of genres delivers a fun, well-polished arcade romp, but Chris Brandrick, writing for Overkill, notes that the roguelike element at play here doesn't really add all that much.
Games Asylum: "Have you ever stepped into an arcade and become instantly overwhelmed by flashing lights, bright colours, and loud noises? CRT screens flicker, speakers warble and neon signs pulsate. I’m not sure if it was intentional but Go Mecha Ball taps into the same energy. It’s set in a world with walls formed from TV screens, glowing ramps seemingly made from LCD panels, and neon colours adorning every surface. All of this is backed by an EDM-style soundtrack, not dissimilar to the melody of arcade machines showcasing their attract modes."
“It's a new year and with that comes a fresh batch of indies so here are the very best of 2024 so far. I hope you enjoy this look back. 😊” - A.J. Maciejewski from Video Chums.
