Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth Review - IGN

Sprawling, enthralling, and packed with dynamic brawling, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth isn’t just the best turn-based Like a Dragon game, it’s one of the greatest games in the entire series.

Wait, he didn't mention anything regarding new game + behind a lot of $15 paywall?

-Foxtrot462d ago

None of them do with these sorts of things because they are simps

I remember the Pokémon Sword and Shield fiasco, the person doing the review for IGN said things like how reviews are not the place to talk about bugs and the like

Great score but I can wait until they make New Game+ available to everyone.

Killa78462d ago

They've absolutely called out egregious monetising. Whilst not defending this game, there's probably 100 hours+ of content for completionists to get into before worrying about NG+.

Tacoboto462d ago

Because they're simps, pshh get over yourself.

It sucks there's a paywall but a lot of games don't even launch with New Game+ until a post-launch update (seems to be PS 1st Party's standard), so should those games be knocked for not being feature complete?

Not to mention reviewers do not have the time to even engage in NG+ considering the playthrough itself took 50 hours. They mentioned the paywall in the review too, so it did not go ignored either...

-Foxtrot462d ago

@Tacoboto

Get over myself? What, for giving a shit about awful anti consumer practices that will bite us ALL on the ass later if it's not made into a thing now?

A review should talk about everything, it's the reviewers job to tell the average gamer the good and bad about the game as a whole. It's where some people make their final judgement on a game before buying, so it's up to the journalists to speak about these sorts of things. Also while it's super harsh, if reviewers had the balls and started deducting a point or so over anti consumer practices the gaming industry would not be in the state it is today because no publisher / studio would dare want lower review scores which could impact sales.

So no, I won't get over myself, how about you get over yourself and stop defending these shitty practices and call them out because if they got worse in 5 - 10 years time you'd most likely be one of the people online saying "How did this happen?"

Tacoboto462d ago

The reviewer did bring it up, so your little rant is pointless, even more pointless directed at me considering I have no interest in buying this day one or even day 100.

As with Yakuza: Like a Dragon, I might get it in a year or so when it's 50-75% off on a Steam sale.

BillyCrystals461d ago

I agree with -Foxtrot.

What's that developer? You think I should fairly compensate you for your time and talent and product that gives me dozens upon dozens of hours of joy and entertainment? How dare you! You anti-consumer scum!

It’s sh*tty, but is an optional $15 NG+ mode enough to make this a 1/10?

The game is the game it is, scummy corporate decisions aside. I think it’s definitely worth mentioning, but for some people they won’t even care about a NG+, so in the end I don’t think it should reflect on the score, but probably best to make a disclaimer about it.

Tacoboto462d ago

They did mention it, with a link to their own article covering it.

It's a lie to say they didn't bring it up.

FinalFantasyFanatic461d ago

It really should have been a free update, asking $15 is way too much, plus, it encourages them to try and chop up other features to sell later.

PCgamer98462d ago

Reviewers don't bother with new game plus. They finish the game, write the review, and get their moolah.

anast461d ago (Edited 461d ago )

Stop consuming IGN if you don't want nicely edited advertisements.

The paywall sucks, but another STELLAR effort by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio

VivaChe462d ago

Wow it sounds like this is going to be an emotional roller coaster for Kiryu fans.

Seems like Japan devs on fire recently

What a start to the new year. This and Palworld have me very happy. Granblue, p3 remake, and ff7 rebirth soon as well...

Best Lead Performance of 2024

VGChartz's Lee Mehr: "As game scripts expand in size and the technology to capture performances improves, blockbuster game companies are under tremendous pressure to get the right fit for a leading role. In some cases, said actor essentially becomes the face of that franchise; their mug may be digitally altered or cropped in select ways, but they're – more or less – in the same spot as a film actor at this point. As a result, there's also a keener interest in how those performers sound if they're replacing somebody else.

Perhaps the most glaring example of that was Bloober Team's Silent Hill 2 remake. Alongside a bevy of other gameplay & story alterations, Luke Roberts replacing Guy Cihi's original James Sunderland was a major point of distress for long-time fans before release. Sure, Cihi wasn't a trained actor at the time (and it shows), but he carried a type of unique charm that meshed perfectly with the game's strange world. A similar situation was Troy Baker assuming the mantle of Indiana Jones. How similar could he actually sound to a younger Harrison Ford? Judging by the collective staff & community acclaim, both of them fared quite well, and so too did the others who made up our final five."

WayTooManyGames' Top 20 Best Games of 2024

WTMG's Leo Faria: "We’re back at it. The moment you’ve been waiting for. The last twelve months were absolutely plastered with bangers, from all sizes, markets, development budgets, and genres. We’ve played VR games, Switch games, PC games, retro games, and so on. Every single niche had, at the very least, a title which managed to stand out. If our list featuring the worst games of 2024 was hard to create because there were barely any bad games to come out this year, this list was different. It was heartbreaking to see so many outstanding titles fail to make our final cut, just to show how many great games came out in 2024."

A top 10 list that doesn’t include FF rebirth, stella blade, helldivers, Wu Kong is already quite questionable… but a top 20 list and still not include them? Wow!

Yep all those games you listed are really good. I’d take out World of Warcraft dlc for sure.

I played and finished the game. It's a good time.

Playing WuKong right now and I would put it on this years list best games. I wouldn’t trick it at the top but towards the top. It’s pretty damn good. I’d kick off World of Warcraft as I hated it when it came out, a too easy version of Everquest with cartoony style.
