Kiryu's English voice actor, Yong Yea, has spoken up about Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth locking NG+ behind a paywall.
VGChartz's Lee Mehr: "As game scripts expand in size and the technology to capture performances improves, blockbuster game companies are under tremendous pressure to get the right fit for a leading role. In some cases, said actor essentially becomes the face of that franchise; their mug may be digitally altered or cropped in select ways, but they're – more or less – in the same spot as a film actor at this point. As a result, there's also a keener interest in how those performers sound if they're replacing somebody else.
Perhaps the most glaring example of that was Bloober Team's Silent Hill 2 remake. Alongside a bevy of other gameplay & story alterations, Luke Roberts replacing Guy Cihi's original James Sunderland was a major point of distress for long-time fans before release. Sure, Cihi wasn't a trained actor at the time (and it shows), but he carried a type of unique charm that meshed perfectly with the game's strange world. A similar situation was Troy Baker assuming the mantle of Indiana Jones. How similar could he actually sound to a younger Harrison Ford? Judging by the collective staff & community acclaim, both of them fared quite well, and so too did the others who made up our final five."
WTMG's Leo Faria: "We’re back at it. The moment you’ve been waiting for. The last twelve months were absolutely plastered with bangers, from all sizes, markets, development budgets, and genres. We’ve played VR games, Switch games, PC games, retro games, and so on. Every single niche had, at the very least, a title which managed to stand out. If our list featuring the worst games of 2024 was hard to create because there were barely any bad games to come out this year, this list was different. It was heartbreaking to see so many outstanding titles fail to make our final cut, just to show how many great games came out in 2024."
A top 10 list that doesn’t include FF rebirth, stella blade, helldivers, Wu Kong is already quite questionable… but a top 20 list and still not include them? Wow!
The Outerhaven: As the year comes to a close, here are The Outerhaven's 2024 games of the year. We hope you find new favorites as you play through the best games of the year.
Playing WuKong right now and I would put it on this years list best games. I wouldn’t trick it at the top but towards the top. It’s pretty damn good. I’d kick off World of Warcraft as I hated it when it came out, a too easy version of Everquest with cartoony style.
I just can’t believe we’re taking features from a game and selling it. NG+ should be just as free as pressing start and playing a New Game. It’s $15 to boot, this is just next level dumb to me.
Well they won't get infinite wealth from me because I'm not paying for NG+.
I don't usually bother with NG+ in any game, so I definitely won't be playing for it.
What next? Pay extra if you want easy mode or a high performance mode?
This is the kind of thing that keeps people from buying the game, period. I wont, plenty of other games to play.
Yong's voice acting and response to critisim made me quit watching his channel. If you can't take the heat yourself stop making money off of aiming it at others.
Don't give a damn about what that lousy voice acting hypocrit has to say.
I'm not buying it now until they revert this decision, there's plenty of games coming out. I can wait.
