Cyberpunk 2077: internal PC benchmarks tested on PS5 and Xbox Series consoles

In Cyberpunk 2077's 60fps performance mode, there are differences. In three of the four benchmarks, PS5, Xbox Series X and Series S are quite closely matched - with just the sense that the Series X isn't quite as solid with its lock to 60fps. In a fourth benchmark though, the load increases and PlayStation 5 can run at a maximum of 12fps to the better compared to Series X.

Xbox Series S is limiting Xbox Series X

Einhander1972130d ago (Edited 130d ago )

I mean, this video shows that it's just xbox hardware that is limiting.

All generation we see games run better on PS5.

Heck an issue that rarely gets brought up but is demonstrably factual is the stutter that SX has on next gen games that use high quality textures that it's SSD simply can't load fast enough causing a .5 to 1 sec+ stutters.

The fact of the matter is the PS5 is actually the better designed and more capable hardware, at this point in the generation it's undeniable.

🤘🏻 PS5 💪🏼

XBManiac130d ago (Edited 130d ago )

Well... it seems that PS5 is a better designed machine, with better dynamic hardware escalation than fixed Xbox Series design. But, really, it seems the problem is with software environment for developers, where tools tell where and when to squeeze the system. PS5 DEV kit does it in a more automatic way than XDK, for the moment. Yes, Xbox Series S can be a time consuming pit for smaller teams or big projects like Cyberpunk 2077, but Microsoft are trying hard to improve. Also, Unreal Engine 5.3+ have tools to help on this. Let's hope Unity and others invest on making development a nicer job, because this can also apply to Windows and other platforms as experience and third party tools get also better. Good luck, devs, players need you!

Haven't got clue about what u said there but the game is great and thanks for info even though it went over my head a bit

PS5 runs as good as RX 7900 XTX?

phoenixwing130d ago

This whole benchmark thing is completely flawed and isn't really representative of a pc under load except for one metric they used. It's basically useless. Or that's how I read it.

XBManiac130d ago

No, it runs far better. But both are capable of achieving 60fps at the same settings without the problems the Xbox Series shows. If you set higher quality settings and resolution, RX 7900 XTX will maintain those 60fps, while PS5 and Xbox Series will not. BTW, 60 fps is a lowest mark for the comparison as consoles are involved. If they compared RX 7900 XTX to consoles, they would have checked the no FPS limit on the PC side.

No, the test only really shows PS5 runs about 1 percent better lows than an 8 core Zen 2 4800S @ 4GHz and RX 6700.

This is a not very common discrete GPU close to the performance of the more common 6650XT or 2070 Super.

The game is GPU limited at these settings.

ProjectVulcan130d ago

Present? I'm spewing straight facts. The test was done by trying to use the most similar PC hardware possible to these consoles.

It showed PS5 had 1 percent better lows than a pretty wacky old AMD Zen 2 CPU and lower midrange discrete GPU running the game in a Windows environment.

No more, no less. They showed that similar PC hardware gives incredibly close results, which is not a surprise.

The video pointed out the game was more GPU bound in some areas by substituting in a more powerful GPU which locked the framerate.

Number1TailzFan130d ago

Man the console people seem to think better optimisation can put ps5 leagues ahead of a decent GPU.

DF have already shown a last gen 3080 putting out double the frame rate of ps5 running Alan Wake 2 at console equivalent settings, getting well over 100fps.

If that's your point you're making it in entirely the wrong thread. My post that you replied to exclusively talked about comparable PC hardware.

No mention of Series X in this particular comment thread. Perhaps you will be able to avoid such a mistake in future.

Games That Were Bad on Release, But Are Now Great

BLG writes, "Some of the most popular games have had a rough start, with some of them being downright unplayable.

Despite that, developers have managed to turn it around for them and make their game worth playing. Here are some games that had a rough start but were pretty great."

Good list..hoped to see Street Fighter 5 there..and it is.

Vits11d ago (Edited 11d ago )

Sea of Thieves... I'm not disagreeing that the game has improved in terms of content. But I feel that the most significant change between now and its release is actually the public perception. Nowadays, most people are aware that the game is a multiplayer PvP-focused experience first and foremost, and not "Black Flag made by Rare". Consequently, people dismissing the whole experience because the single-player aspect is lacking or the story is plain are much less common.

darthv7211d ago

Several years ago, i submitted an idea to Rare that would change up the mechanics of battling opponents in the game. whereby if you died in battle, you turned into a skeleton warrior and had to fight your way back to the land of the living. It was an interesting twist on respawning and would allow the player to experience both sides of a battle.

I keep hoping to see something like that get added to the game.

They consider FO 76 & ME Andromeda to be great now 🤭

anast10d ago

Every game in the last 2 decades...

INMATEofARKHAM10d ago

It's sad that this quick retort is more often than not true... The industry's acceptance of release and patch has gone too far.

gunnerforlife10d ago

Days gone! By the end of the game I couldn't drop it down! I went around so many hours killing zombies! It was addictive by the end.

S2Killinit10d ago

That game was just plain good game. It didnt improve, it was just good.

gunnerforlife10d ago

I don't know, I got it abit late, and struggled for a few days, and then all of a sudden it just got good!!

Well they are using unreal engine now thanks to there work culture and horrific job on making cyberpunk so for the future no impact.

But it will be interesting to see what mods will be made

7 disagrees shows how many look at one dlc that had a rip off fight from ghost in the shell and goes wow what a goat team i love cdpr while ignoring that they only made 2 games that were good witcher 2/3 in 20yrs.

But its a new world we want a criminal that support's legal murder as president/support shoplifting love toxic work environments and have a mass casualty event every other day.

GhostMirror22d ago

I’ll admit I didn’t play it at launch, but Cyberpunk 2077 is a really good game now.

And who the hell knows what you’re even going on about in your second paragraph here.

EazyC23d ago

Wait a min...I swear to god CP2077's source code got leaked before. CDPR needs to stop using "password123" for all their accounts 😅

just_looken22d ago

Na its hundreds ex employees no doubt just getting there revenge.

Profchaos22d ago (Edited 22d ago )

This is the same leak the threat actors have been trying to sell the source code after cd project didn't pay the ransom.

They didn't manage to sell the source code to any company largely because it would be unethical for say EA to buy it so the threat actors failed to find a buyer.

After they failed to make any money they went through with their threat of simply giving it away.
