This author realizes there are two sets of rumored leaks for creditable leakers right?

Ironmike552d ago (Edited 552d ago )

One of the leaders is not credible don't about other one, it be like the ps4 pro wish I happy with

Shikoku551d ago

The YouTuber I watched is creditable and so is the guy on Twitter. I'd don't know of anyone else leaking stuff.

Eonjay552d ago

The answer is that the test data that the leaker has or viewed doesn't reflect a chip running a full clocks. Thats all. this happened in the past. Remember when the PS5 chip was discovered but it was running at something like 9TFs BECAUSE it was a test bench and not running at full clocks.

Really all you have to do is listen to RED. It is explained in a lot of detailed on their channel. Actually chip should be between 2.5 and 2.8 Ghz.

Those running around here claiming 14TFs are clearly wrong. There are 60CUs. The very floor of possible performance has to be near 2x the PS5 without taking anything else into account. It is AT LEAST 19TFs without the rumored clock boosts or Dual Issue 32 bit instructions.

With the rumored extras thats how you are getting close to the 30TFs area. But you shouldn't expect that. You should only expect 19TFs according to information we already have.

@Eonjay

Oh right, maybe it's not the final clock rate, still seems fishy. Why test at a speed that would break current code?

Tapani551d ago

Regardless, it is still a smaller upgrade than PS4 --> PS4 Pro. I'm not really sure we need a PS5 Pro, but I guess if you want to run UE5 titles at 30 fps you would need it. 60fps could work, not sure if the CPU is up for the task when RT effects are running etc.

Babadook7552d ago (Edited 552d ago )

I think he's right about how challenging it would be to make pro patches for upcoming games, The clock rate cannot be lower than base spec.

Edit: I think both leaks called for a lower clock rate. So both should be considered baseless at this point.

Extermin8or3_551d ago

I'm unconvinced not because I think this guy doesn't know what he's generally talking about but because he may be forgetting that in the case of the ps5 it has variable clock rates. The max the gpu can run at isn't typically what it will be running at. Pretty sure the series s and x have slightly different clock speeds aswell. My point is, if the clock speeds change moment to moment anyway because it is variable and based on power profiles as cerny explained in his gdc presentation, I'm unconvinced that having a slightly lower cap on the max gpu clock speed would have a significant effect. Even if I'm wrong and it does it just means the leaders haven't seen finalised specs, which they themselves acknowledge repeatedly.

So looks like the leakers I watch were right and so was I. 😘

This was already said in the more believable leak.

Sonic1881552d ago

It will still be the most powerful console out there and performance mode will look the best on it

Snookies12552d ago

Probably just going to stick with picking up the slim. I upgraded from a PS4 to the Pro, and it really wasn't worth it in my opinion. Plus, I'm trying to grab a PS5 before FF VII Rebirth launches.

Eonjay552d ago

PS5 is plenty powerful enough as is. It is still delivering mid upper level scale graphics when compared to PC GPUs. You will get much more optimization of of a PS5 for many more years. The PS4 got optimization and support for performance that completely blows its contemporary PC equivalents out of the water.

ZycoFox552d ago

Is that why Digital Foundry has shown a last gen 3080 outputting 2x the frame rate of a PS5 running Alan Wake 2 at equivalent settings?

purple101551d ago

Can I build a rtx 3080 pc for £400.? Probably not.

So that's probably what he ment.

Marathon Development Update

Marathon was slated to launch on Sept. 23, 2025 across Xbox, PC, and PlayStation, but Bungie will share the new release date in the fall.

-Foxtrot2h ago

Yeah, you can delay it as much as you want but you ain’t gonna wash that stink off.

Killer2020UK38m ago

It will lessen though and possibly make all the difference if it launches in a state that rectified a lot of the issues people had with it. A LOT of ifs of course.

ZeekQuattro1h ago

Delaying the inevitable. Bungie hoping the negative publicity will blow over. 🙄

darthv721h ago

They can't cancel it until a themed controller has been released first... like concord.

dveio1h ago

If they were absolutely certain about the quality of Marathon, then they had not delayed it just now.

So they've basically just confirmed what everyone, well, a lot of people saw: Marathon is not ready yet, still no soul to be seen.

Tacoboto46m ago

"Doubling down on the Marathon Universe"

They're doubling down on soul, thank goodness this feedback illuminated that for them...
