Incredible PS1-Themed PS5 Console Spotted at Jim Ryan's Farewell Party

A Twitter post from PlayStation employee @InstallBase revealed the console, which is said to be "one of a kind". They also shared photos of a "Thank you Jim!" cupcake, the room itself, and a meeting with Gran Turismo man Kazunori Yamauchi.

I want that controller... and it looks like they used the original digital edition instead of the slim?

I love that huge PS1 controller port connector, just like the original. :)

They likely had a plethora of those cords from the PS classic controller. Instead of it going right to the controller itself, they just made it USB C to plug into a DS.

@darthv72 of course, still really awesome

The controller looks super cool — I wouldn't mind it becoming the new standard. And about the console, I guess the party prep kicked off early, so they couldn't go with the Slim. But, man, the PS5's design is such a wild departure from the PS1. If they didn't explicitly say it's inspired by it, I would've never guessed.

But it doesn't have an eject button 🤔 confusing

Heres hoping they release this to the public.

I'm so jealous. I want that! I really miss the colors on the PS button and 4 iconic shape buttons.
