Duuro says: "While The Pale Reach delivers more of what makes Dredge such a unique experience, there simply isn't enough here to justify the cost of admission for all but the series' most dedicated fans. It provides a pleasant excuse to return, but doesn't expand the package significantly enough."
A short but sweet expansion for indie hit Dredge which brings a new island to fish around and new monsters in the deep.
Dredge: The Pale Reach is a glacial expansion to the cozy fishing horror game Dredge set in a frosty environment full of corrupted Narwhals, frozen monsters, and an ancient mystery cloaked in ice. Though the Pale Reach boasts several new mechanics and rewards, like an Icebreaker for smashing through icy obstacles, a persistent monster that chases players down, and even a reusable teleporter, its disappointingly short length lets down the experience for players looking for more from the frozen DLC. Though there is a charm and challenge to Dredge's new biome, the relatively short content makes it far from a standalone piece of content.
Joseph writes- The Pale Reach is a small expansion for Dredge that adds a new region to explore. The chillingly cold waters of The Pale Reach. The new region isn’t part of Dredge’s main story and can be tackled at any time, simply by sailing there. It does, however, offer some unique rewards, new fish to catch, dangers to dodge, and puzzles to solve. All while uncovering a side story involving a beast trapped in the ice.
