Far Cry’s formula!? Geezus Ubisoft can you just make something new and novel? I was interested in this until I saw that it’s bringing Far Cry’s formula to the table.

What the f*ck did Ubisoft do before Far Cry? It’s a miracle the company made it in the beginning before Far Cry.

InUrFoxHole534d ago

Then don't play it man. Now if you want to have a more informed opinion then check youtube. From what I've heard the game may have the formula but it isn't the same

CrimsonWing69534d ago

Yea I’m not going to play it. That’s sort of my point with saying I was interested until reading it’s a Far Cry game.

InUrFoxHole534d ago

That's all good. Not every game is for everyone but I thought the same till I watched a vid.

shinoff2183534d ago (Edited 534d ago )

Crimson. That's exactly what I was thinking. Like wtf. Far cry just ain't my cup, and I was fairly interested in avatar. Still might check it out but why ubisoft, just copy pasting huh

Is there a specific video on youtube foxhole or just in general your talking about ?

jambola535d ago

I can't wait to instantly turn it off because I have to struggle to shoot a gun without pushback

ModsDoBetter535d ago

Exactly what I feared.
Far cry in an Avatar skin...NEXT!

It's also shockingly boring.

helicoptergirl116d ago

It absoluty is not and it's not even close. I platinumed the game and it is nowhere near the best looking game on the console. What a laugh

TrueRican69116d ago

What that guy smoking it not that go to horizon forbidden west or black myth wokong. I want punch his face for that one.

BehindTheRows116d ago

It's thegamer. Never take them seriously!

TrueRican69115d ago

I don't not even ign or gamespot I buy for myself and see if the game don't put me to sleep.

Blaze929116d ago

Lol that game is a blurry mess. Far from best looking anything

mkis007116d ago

The only part that looks that good is when you first exit the facility in the beginning. After that it all looks the same...well at least for the first few hours which is all it took for me to get bored.

DF: Avatar is the latest PS5 Pro patch that looks worse than the base PS5 game

Digital Foundry addresses the bizarre trend to PlayStation 5 Pro upgrades that can look arguably worse than the standard PS5 version.

The most concerning thing about this is it seems that the more demanding games that run at lower base resolutions are the games that tend to struggle with PSSR. Moving forward until the release of the PS6, games are going to continue to be more demanding as they push the hardware even more. Devs may have to opt to not use PSSR until the kinks can get worked out.

Obscure_Observer151d ago

This must be the first time that I heard of a mid gen refresh console running games worse than the base console.

"Everything will look best on PS5 Pro!"

Well, not really

neutralgamer1992151d ago

It just depends on how good of a patch is made for the game. Even on pc we have bad ports no matter how strong your Pc really is. This game in particular looked great on base consoles so for it to look bad on pro is a concerning sign. Bigger question is does sony really cares? Because with yoshida leaving soon we don't have any of the older playstation executives left

GamerRN151d ago

Overall my thoughts on my Pro is that the upgrade is minimal for a high cost and also doesn't seem to be implemented well.

Probably the worst mid Gen upgrade I've ever seen, and possibly the most pointless console.

I'm a graphics whore and I still struggle to justify it

Sgt_Slaughter151d ago

The lower the res, the harder it is for the upscaler to figure out what is what and make it accurate, which is a problem they should have realized going into this. $750-900+ (depending on region and accessories) for a mid-generation upgrade that doesn't actually work as advertised is a bad look.

porkChop151d ago

This isn't really something that can be worked out. The same thing happens with DLSS for example. The lower your starting resolution the worse the upscaled image will look. There's just much less data/detail for the upscaler to work with. That's what the DLSS quality/perf modes do, they raise or lower the base resolution for better performance or image quality. PSSR will get better but it isn't a miracle worker just like DLSS isn't.

jwillj2k4151d ago (Edited 151d ago )

Then they shouldnt be allowed to say it’s enhanced if it’s objectively worse than the original. Its false advertising.

Zeke68150d ago

What I find weird is the fact that Pro-patches for Lies Of P and Lords Of The Fallen was great, but a big company like Ubisoft fails on both their Star Wars Outlaws and Avatar patches?? That's wild and concerning at the same time.

Neonridr150d ago

as devs get familiar with the tech and as Sony continues to improve upon it, I'm sure PSSR will get better like you said.

It's definitely not a miracle worker, but when the end result is poorer than the system it's supposed to be improving upon, it's definitely a cause for concern.

porkChop150d ago

@Moodie

I do actually play mostly on PC, and I use DLSS. It's a great feature but no it isn't a miracle worker. It's improving your FPS because the game is rendering at such a low FPS in performance mode. If you up that to quality or even native you'll see a huge drop in performance but far better image quality. Obviously performance mode looks better than if you natively ran at that low resolution, but that's not a miracle it's just very good upscaling.

If developers can't do their pro patch properly they shouldn't release one until it's right. It's just making it look bad and Sony should step in.

CrimsonWing69151d ago

$700-$800 we’ll spent. There was someone saying to turn off PSSR for Gran Turismo because it made trees blurry and had poor visual effects. Im pretty sure PSSR was one of the big selling points here.

mkis007151d ago

The tree reflections....which if you can make them out you are going too slow.

Tacoboto151d ago

Sony released a console upgrade without a first-party "launch" title.
They are severely understocked on their proprietary disc drive.
The best example of the Pro's impact - Rebirth - is so transformative partially due to just how bad the base version performance mode is.

It seems now there are more "bad" examples of Pro upgrades than there are good. I wonder if Sony will respond in the coming weeks and months to do something for these early adopters being delivered inferior experiences and some an inability to play their physical library... Something like Nintendo's 3DS Ambassador Program

mkis007151d ago (Edited 151d ago )

No. There are at most 7 games with bad pssr games out of 50 plus. Those 7 just happen to be big names. Avatar, outlaws, survivor, silent hill on quality mode, dragons dogma 2 with pssr on, and potentially alan wake 2 depending on your preferences. All the others are a net improvement.

CS7151d ago

Lmao, spending $700 and any games looking worse is an embarrassment.

PS5 Pro was an unnecessary cash grab mid gen refresh, made to introduce PS6 at a significantly higher price point.

mkis007151d ago (Edited 151d ago )

Games needing patches is nothing new for any console... its on the devs for releasing without proper q and a. More examples of good patches than bad exist for it to be on sony. It's a big deal problem. I'm enjoying mine so no need to worry. It's nice having the ability to save money like an adult. Been saving since the first rumors.

neutralgamer1992151d ago

Ubi can't afford to pay for the patch 😜
