Super Smash Bros stopped having in-game CG story cutscenes because they kept leaking before release

In the latest video on Super Smash Bros creator Masahiro Sakurai's YouTube channel, the developer talks about fighter reveal videos in the Nintendo fighting series. "Fighter reveal videos are a flashy way of unveiling new Smash Bros. fighters. We were already doing something like them in the trailers for Smash Bros Brawl, but they didn't get their official start until Smash Bros. for 3DS/Wii U," Sakurai reveals.

The leaks suck but it's not an excuse to just not do them full stop

Snookies12168d ago

My thoughts exactly, very odd thing to come out and say... Not a good reason at all to get rid of them.

I get the guy has been overworked for years but this screams “I have an excuse not to do something extra”

Like he bit off more than he could chew and wanted to stop it with how many new characters there was so blamed the leaks

OtterX168d ago

Yea definitely comes across as just looking for an excuse.

Leaks suck but getting rid of something full stop is weird and odd.

Wut. Not really...a good excuse lol. Nintendo has some of the worst excuses at times. I'm sad they don't have epic cutscenes any more in the story like in Brawl. I suppose we still get them for new character trailers though which is nice.

I wonder if Disney will play nice and release some other characters besides Sora to the game. Wouldn't mind seeing Mickey Mouse or even Chip N Dale, Darkwing Duck or even Aqua from KH. Hell I would love it if Disney would drop Goliath or even Wildwing from the Mighty Ducks cartoon.

gold_drake167d ago

you will never see mickey in a fighting game brawler.

disney is very protective about their mascot. and all of their characters rly.

Knightofelemia167d ago (Edited 167d ago )

You forget Sora is owned by Disney all of KH is owned by Disney. Minus the characters owned by Square.

gold_drake167d ago

true but mickey IS Disney. its their mascot, has been since more than god knows how many years. its not a comparison. like at all.

theres a reason why he was only included at the end of kh1 haha.

Still amazes me that Sakurai never did anything like Subscpace after Brawl. What a pathetically petty reason to not continue them. Everything works differently around the world including mentalities. Sometimes these overseas developers don't know how to hide the fact that their pride goes through the roof. Tell me you have too much pride in your work without telling me you have too much pride in your work.

Smash is just another game. Give the people what they want. And believe me when I say what people want isn't another stupid Fire Emblem character. I still wish Smash would've gone on from 64 without ever adding that lame AF franchise..
