There is a lot of potential in a game adaptation of A Christmas Carol, and Ebenezer and the Invisible World makes a valiant effort. But this pudding needed to sing in the copper a little longer.
Duuro says: "Dreams of a quality Christmas Metroidvania go unfulfilled. Ebenezer and the Invisible World offers little but disappointment and frustration. Avoid this Scrooge of a game, unless a major updates arrives before Christmas."
Ebenezer and the Invisible World is a Metroidvania; a reimagined sequel to Charles Dickens’ classic ghost story, A Christmas Carol.
Games Asylum: "Basing a Metroidvania on the works of Charles Dickens isn’t as farfetched as it may seem. One of the best NES games was also based on the English novelist’s most renowned character. It took a few liberties, turning Scrooge into a duck, but DuckTales remains a classic to this day. Joking aside, the premise here is sound: a familiar source material, a protagonist who’s already undergone a redemption arc, supernatural elements, and a rendition of yuletide Victorian London to explore."
