I don't know if this has to be towards gass games or since Microsoft brought Activision knowing they wont get as much income as they originally get. Cost saving while staff get short end of the stick and get let go

Si-Fly197d ago

Did you really just manage to blame MS for job cuts at Bungie? 🤣

Crows90196d ago (Edited 196d ago )

Maybe they had no clue that Bungie has been independent for a while and is currently owned by Sony

Gamer75197d ago

Sony own Bungie so it has nothing to do with MS

Whitey2k197d ago

I think u all are misunderstanding me I'm not blaming Microsoft I'm on about the income that sony use to get from call of duty which they wont be getting anymore hence the layoffs by cutting staff

RAFTECH26197d ago

The PlayStation organization will never recover if MS acquires activision - Jim Ryan

Connect the dots!
The scary part….. is behaviour like this points to a fall out…… Sony is ripe to becoming acquired themselves.

Sephiroushin196d ago

On first emails that same Jim Ryan said that they would be okay, he was crying just like phill saying they would go out if they do not get x subs by 2027 which they would not because their target is unrealistic

Christopher197d ago

I expected this early next year near the release of Final Shape, not this early on.

Extermin8or3_197d ago

Maybe final shape is further ahead in dev than expected.

ChasterMies197d ago

Final Shaped pushed back to June, 2024, but reportedly not delayed because it needed more time. February and March have become a dumping ground for games, and June is a great window to avoid all that competition.

Gameseeker_Frampt197d ago

Except that Destiny 2 is a live-service game that depends on keeping to it's schedule. Seasons last 3 months each and only have enough content to keep players engaged for a few weeks. A four month content drought between the end of Season 23 and The Final Shape is not the best way to end the Darkness and Light Saga of Destiny 2, especially with how much of a disaster this year has been for the game.

Extermin8or3_197d ago

Completely unfounded assumption at the end if that article that sony's expansion in acquiring devs has come back to bite them. That laid doesn't stand up to even the most basic scrutiny. Who hires these morons to write for them and literally make up news?

Obscure_Observer197d ago

"Completely unfounded assumption at the end if that article that sony's expansion in acquiring devs has come back to bite them."

Sony paid $1.2 Billion to keep Bungie devs from leaving! That´s 1/3 worth of the whole deal!

To layoff Bungie developers this early after just one year as a Playstation first party studio is total disaster!

Something gone terrible wrong at Sony and its plans, and I think that´s is the reason behind Ryan´s "retirment".

Crows90196d ago

Exaggeration at its finest. Good job. Let's pretend there hasn't been a steady stream of layoffs everywhere.

There is just straight up chaos and dysfunction at PlayStation studios currently. Why isn’t there more articles about this? If this was Xbox, we see hundreds of articles about how Phil needs to go. The double standards is insane.

P_Bomb197d ago

Eh. There’s always YouTube.

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!
That's the best answer I have seen for if you don't like what you're seeing well....

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH197d ago

You already know why there’s not more articles about this on N4G…

Redemption-64197d ago

You people live in some made-up bubble. Should we assume there is huge dysfunction at MS since they have laid off the most people? They recently also laid off close to 700 people at LinkedIn and very few even care, yet let Sony lay off 10-20 people, compared to Microsoft's 10,000+, and people like you want everyone to just focus on Sony, and not they one laying off the most amount

Lightning77197d ago

If Marathon is getting pushed back to 2025 it's way more than 10 to 20 ppl getting layed off.

Redemption-64197d ago

@Lightning77

Delays could literally be for anything, they can lay off 10 people and delay the game, hell, they can hire more people and still delay the game. Bungie specifically if I am not mistaken went on a hiring spree not too long ago. There have been a lot of lay offs across the industry. Epic, Sony, EA, Ubisoft, Blizzard and Microsoft have all had lay offs, as I mentioned before, with Microsoft laying off by far the most. There is a reason some specific group of fanboys only want articles about Sony. Hell they are commenting under said article, but want to see more

Christopher197d ago

You're literally reading the article and... How are they going to get rid of the guy already leaving?

Rude-ro197d ago

You say that…
Let’s see what you say when they do lay off tons of people next year and what the articles actually say.
Microsoft does not even spend money on their own beloved franchise…
Do you really think they are going to keep FOUR studios worth of paychecks alive to work on one ip? *cough cod.

You confuse people in comment sections over hit piece articles because Microsoft has their pockets in most of gaming journalism.

Shane Kim196d ago

Maybe because there isnt? Where is your proof?

Crows90196d ago

Except the CEO is gone. And people have been complaining about the gaas direction. And most Sony fans disliked the acquisition in the first place ...so no. Sorry the only double standard is with Xbox. Nothing yet from Sony fans except whatever you guys make up or imagine

Epic Games Faces $1.2 Million Fine Over "Unfair Practices," Plans to Fight Back

Epic Games is facing a $1.2 million fine by the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets over "unfair practices" in the Fortnite shop.

Sciurus_vulgaris13h ago

It might be cheaper to simply pay the fine. Fighting said fine could cost millions due to court and lawyer fees. Fortnite generates well over a 100 million in each month, so Epic has plenty of cash.

franwex5h ago(Edited 5h ago)

But if they did pay it, then they are basically admitting that they did something they weren’t supposed to be doing. If they fight it, they may win and continue to have a sense of urgency for their micro transactions thus making more money long term.

Furesis31m ago

I'd fight back too. These are kinda meaningless reasons to fine someone like really for THAT. It's like they just wanted to make money or something.

Too bad for the best fps there is atm...

The market for games like this is too over saturated to make a dent in other established games' player counts. Trying to start all over with a whole new multiplayer meta and grinding to get better is not feasible when there's already a ton of similar games that have come out before it.
