Then that window will get smaller and smaller until both console an PC release will be at the same time. Once they do that, they will do their big releases day one on PS++. Until then, it is mostly smaller titles that they will do the day one release for.

Also, I love PS+ the way it is. Because it provides the same things gamepass does but doesnt effect quality of first party games. I dont like to limit myself to what is available on a service, therefore it doesnt make sense for me to back MS business strategy that leads to bad first party games.

The price increases, Im not happy about but unfortunately MS is pushing ahead with service-only model, and Sony has to match the quality of their service, thus the equivalent price increase.

Looking at Sony’s day one games so far, they are of equivalent quality to what MS is/has been offering so far.

The only difference is that MS literally advertised “Day One” in such a way that people still think they are getting tons of day one releases. In reality they were getting two titles per year (if that) and it wasn't even great games.

Take a google search. Its easy.

Also Sony’s strategy is less disruptive and better for the quality of gaming because they choose their day one games on a case by case basis.

1) One Gamepass usually offer aound 30 % of Xbox day 1 release games each months
Yes not all of them are AAA games or games never offered elsewhere but they are still Day 1 games.
Let's just take the current month:
- The Lamplighter’s League
- Forza Motorsport
- Warhammer 40 000 Darktide
- Cities Skylines 2
- From Space
- Mineko’s Night Market

All of them are Xbox day 1 game (Pc for Cities Skylines)

So what - I do criticize Sony when they are full of it. With the 70 USD price hike, the ps plus, the buying of 3rd party games where they take games away from the competition, pay for games not comming to the competition and they always get away with it. There is so much double standard that it is crazy.

But there is one thing, that I can not criticize Sony for - that is the game quality. They are top notch and i love the single story games that they have perfected. But as a company and for their arrogance I really do not like them. And i will critisize them for that.

Same here. i canceled playstation plus for the first time in 14 years. I have felt so betrayed. +30% price increase at one time is unbelievable. I did the math such that i know Playstation now matches xbox game pass pricing model. However, for a 14 year subscription the benefits were always lack luster, we all subscribed simply to play online and have PSPlus discount, the free games per month were always disappointing or been there done that. I am now subscribed to only xbox for game pass. If i want to purchase a tilte, ill purchase from the playstation store as ill always be a die hard playstation preferred kind of player.

You need to think of it logically from a consumer's perspective rather than the "fanboy" perspective. I've always owned both Sony and Xbox consoles, have a Series X but haven't upgraded from PS4 yet because everything on PS5 is simply too expensive. It has nothing to do with being a fanboy. I paid under $100 for 3 years of gamepass ultimate, which lets me play on my Xbox, PC, or phone. I get all first party games Day 1, and the library of new third party games is insane. Because of Gamepass I have saved enough money from not having to buy $80 games that it literally covered the cost of the console. Why on god's green earth would I want to call them out for letting me game for so cheap? Yes I want them to improve the quality of first party games but that has nothing to do with sales. As far as prosperity goes, MS has invested billions in studios in the part few years, they wouldn't be able to do that if they weren't prosperous. If these investments fail and Xbox dies, it doesn't hurt me as a consumer because then all these games would move over to PS and I can just buy that.

What is mind boggling is why people care how many copies Spiderman sold, as if that money is coming into their pockets. It's literally PS owners that will eat w.e. Sony servers, the proof is right here in the comments defending these price hikes. They'll happily overpay for games and services because helps Sony and that's something to gloat about?

I got extra this month and for the extra £3 I get to play disco Elysium, circus electrique, midnight fight express, call of the sea, Gotham knights, cloud punk and roki all games which I hadn't got round to in my wishlist.
Out of all them I'm only enjoying disco Elysium and, roki and circus electrique the other 3 were awfull.
Let's be honest we all should be getting our money's worth and if you're not then extra and premium weren't for them in the 1st place.

No one knows the economics behind Xbox Gamepass and from the reluctance of MS to give us real figures of cost, income and usage, I suspect that the facility is making a loss and being subsidized by other profitable sectors within Xbox and MS. Sony does not have that ability but that's fine. Most gamers know what they get from Sony and PS Plus and do not expect games on Day One. I only use PS Plus for multiplaying on some games and for the monthly games that I can add to my library, so the basic tier is enough for me. I hardly have time to play and finish the games I buy on disc, and I suspect there are many others like me. I get nostalgic to play some PS1, 2 and 3 games, but I have all those consoles anyway so I don't need to pay extra to play older games on the PS5.

As a long time console gamer that owns all the major consoles, I’ve started to shift more and more of my time to PC simply because there are fewer hurdles to jump.

The PC platform makes it easier to tap into the PlayStation and Xbox ecosystems without console purchases acting as a paywall to access those specific libraries. Sony’s more popular 1st party games usually make it onto PC, albeit with a bit of a delay. Xbox 1st party games are available on PC on day 1. There’s no online subscription services required to game online, and if you’re patient enough Steam has such ridiculous sales that they almost make GamePass and PlayStation Plus not worth considering.

Cheetos dust does get between the keyboard keys, so my previous argument is null and console gaming wins!

I've been a Playstation player since PS1, and the price hike sucked. Of course. Why would I (we?) cheer any price hike.

Now, with this being said, if the price hike means Sony will be able to not only hold up their First Party quality in the future, even improve it, create new IPs, support studios, continue building new hardware (PSVR2) and strengthen Third Party relationships (Death Stranding, to name only one), I don't have any reason not to pay.

Because as a fan, I want the Playstation brand to keep existing. (I actually want the Xbox brand to keep existing, too.)

I cancelled my PS+ subscription after the hike was announced, but I can be convinced again to subscribe again. I don't feel it yet, but who is to say what Sony comes around with in the next years.

The objective answer to why first party titles aren’t in there is because they don’t have to be. They’ve built up a rep of putting out great first party games so people buy them and that’s the king and the short of it. Game pass is better than ps plus because Microsoft doesn’t have that reo of great first party titles anymore. They had to go all out for game pass in a way Sony didn’t have to with so plus. It just is what it is.

simple answer: sony doesn't need to. they're at the top of the food chain and dictate how the market plays out right now. if ms had the upper-hand, do you think they would be offering game pass in the same capacity as they are now? lol the only reason why game pass is the way it is right now, is because they've been getting stomped out for over a decade and needed to take drastic measures.
