I would rather they let me import the materia, at least. Even if all at initial level. However, this is not a huge issue. Story and gameplay segregation. It’s not new.

How many sequels allow you to transfer your character over? Yakuza games never do and nobody huff and puffs about that. Why can’t people just view it as a sequel and go from there? You’re continuing the story and you level up as usual and build your party up to fight the final boss of this particular entry in the series.

A sequel to Remake ehich was a sequel to a OG, which was a "sequel" to Before Crisis and Crisis Core...

You can live in your bubble if you'd like, but the new trilogy is 3 seperate games and you don't have to play Remake to enjoy Rebirth, even if it'd do you good, just like any other prequel/sequel such as Uncharted, Mass Effect, Bioshock, Yakuza etc which are gsmes where the story continues in the next game.

FFVII OG still exist and is it's own game.

@Seraphim What do you consider a sequel and what do you consider a continuation of the same story? Is Uncharted 2 a sequel or a continuation? Resident Evil is a sequel or continuation to Zero? Is the Trails series, where most games pick up exactly where the previous one ends are sequels or continuations? The Xenosaga series? Mass Effect?

FFVII was a single game. The fact that Square has broken this one game into 3 pieces does not mean that this is a sequel. Again, it's a continuation of a single game, Final Fantasy VII. A game in which if you played the original it would take you through all 3 parts Square is remaking. It's simply how Square chose how to sell it, in pieces. Each of the 3 pieces of the remake is one single game remade. idk how that's so difficult to figure out and acknowledge.

Zack is alive, Biggs is alive, there are fate ghosts that bring characters from the dead (Barret), there are new characters and places, there is even Deepground, was that on FF7? Aerith knows she is going to die, Sephiroth knows stuff going all the way back from Advent Children. I mean, it doesn’t get more sequel to the original than that. Lmao People still clinging that this is a literal Remake is baffling.

I wouldn't mind keeping my good old stuff at the condition the game scales the difficulty accordingly. But Square made its choice (I guess the simplest one) : everyone on the same level. Just wondering if we will start again at level 1.

How did they even get that idea. Ever since the initial reveal that FF7 would be split into 3 parts, I told myself to just wait till the trilogy is available and enhanced to make a flowless continuity. Not only are they releasing only 1 part per console generation, they aren't even allowing for smooth progression. It was once a magnificent game with amazing story. Now it's a 1 game split into 3 without much sense...

Just wait till all 3 are released, they might patch it up afterwards as a trilogy edition or something.

just to let you know ... remake got a ps5 port. rebirth is for ps6 and the next part will probably also be on the ps5. and they will all be on pc too in the futrue. as remake already is.

you will have a seemless experience when "your" trilogy comes out. you just wont be OP in part 2 and 3 if thats what you want, play the og.

its split into 3 parts because of the sheer volume of the og. Nomura even said so. with all the expansions they did to the ff7 world, its not possible to do it in one game.

As a gamer who was there when OG ff7 released, I wish two would have just updated the visuals. I think it would have sold well if they made it look like evercrisis but play like the OG. Maybe not, but its the fans of the original that wanted a remake to begin with. Square just can't help shutting the bed. They absorb all the fan feedback after every game then willfully do the exact opposite of what they should. They have become painfully greedy and out of touch with the fans. Yet, they can't seem to understand why almost every game they release underperformed. They are still all in on NFTs well after any interest has died. Well after their fans loudly proclaimed that they want nothing to do with NFTs. Square is no longer recognizable as the company that absolutely dominated and consistently innovated through the 90s.
