Bet the people that downplayed the dualsense is gonna praise the feature when this one comes out

SyntheticForm598d ago

All I care about in a controller is comfort and battery life.

Haptics and vibration I've seldom found compelling. I'll admit I enjoyed Astro's Playroom and its haptics, but nothing has come remotely close to taking advantage of DualSense in a similar fashion. I suspect the features on this new Xbox controller will be similarly underutilized.

mike32UK598d ago

Returnal did a pretty great job.

PhillyDonJawn598d ago

I'm not, I have 0 interest in it

zeuanimals597d ago

Forza's one of their premier titles. Haptic feedback and gyro work amazing in GT7. I'm literally a way better racer using gyro steering and with the aid of haptics telling me what my tires are doing, so I can know whether to add gas, brakes, or adjust my steering, compared to playing with a regular controller. Hopefully now that every console has gyro and haptics, more devs will support them. Imagine GTAVI with full gyro steering and haptics. Would make drive bys way easier.

F0XH0UND922597d ago

Yeah, who would want more immersion in their games? You're so brave for taking a stand.

PhillyDonJawn597d ago

The gyro steering is dope but I personally don't gaf about haptics sorry I'd rather save battery and after it's cost me a few headshots I instantly turned it off. Maybe for non competitive games but I just lost interest in even basic vibration.

zeuanimals597d ago

Have fun not knowing what your tires are doing then. That's an essential component of racing BTW, feeling the road and your tires through vibrations.

mjchitown598d ago

bet you trying to damage control saying oh im gonna get the ps5 version cause the control, will you still be saying that now ?

fr0sty598d ago

Yes, because it's still a better controller, plus the 3D audio, faster load times, and in many cases, better graphics.

tbagmonster597d ago

the xbox controller is the tighter controller, the buttons dont sway around, the left Dpad doesnt jiggle around like the ps5 dpad does. it feels mushy. but the resistive triggers on the ps5 are better, the full vibration haptic is leagues better on the ps5 and the speaker make it better, thats what sets the ps5 leagues better then the xbox controller. plus the touch pad, its a massive plus as well

ocelot07598d ago

Don't forget the people that insisted having replaceable battery's was the best things since slice bread.

darthv72598d ago

you know this still has that.... right?

SyntheticForm598d ago

The DualSense's battery life is pretty lousy. Xbox's Charge and Play battery pack as well as any similar third party option absolutely destroy the DualSense's built-in solution.

I'd much rather have these options than have to replace the entire controller when it can no longer hold a decent charge.

SyntheticForm598d ago

The option is still there...

TheEnigma313598d ago

@Synthetic form
A dualsense battery takes about 10 minutes to change

SyntheticForm597d ago

@TheEnigma

And about ten minutes to die.

Like how some Sony fans did with the Switch's Joycon, only to turn around and praise the DualSense?

dislike all you wait immature cultist PlayStation fans . just shows how hurt yell are.

Nintentional597d ago

Sony’s been copying Nintendo controllers for decades. If Microsoft also copies what’s good, then all gamers win across the board. Just how Sony copied the button layout of SNES, analog of N64, speaker in controller/gyro and motion controls in Wii Remotes, and HD haptics that are in Switch controllers. Who cares if it means all gamers get better hardware?

mjchitown597d ago

great point. you are right.

Nice they are adding deeper level of haptics than they have had before. People often forget that even basic rumble (that has been around for a while) is a form of haptic feedback. I expect the triggers to feel more refined with improved feedback than the XB One controller and its triggers when it comes to Forza. It will be cool if you feel the triggers vibrate to the same intensity that you feel in a real car when you drive onto the shoulder of a course. That rumble that lets you know you are off the track.

And its also nice they still let you swap the batteries as you wish. Including a rechargeable battery instead of regular AA is long overdue but a welcome change.

shadowT598d ago

Good step. The current Xbox Series Controller feels cheap and is far too 'clicky'.

PhillyDonJawn598d ago (Edited 598d ago )

Agreed it is clicky asl lol

ocelot07598d ago

I wouldn't say it feels cheap. Think it feels fine but the d-pad although it's their best yet in a standard controller. It's so clicky and noisy lol.

randomvoice598d ago

The difference in quality between a DualSense and Xbox controller is night and day. The face buttons on the Xbox feel so cheap and clicky. Even the shoulder buttons feel flimsy compared to a Dualsense. Having less clicky buttons would make a world of difference in the perceived quality.

Abnor_Mal598d ago (Edited 598d ago )

Well when the PS5 first came out I remember seeing something where Phil Spencer praised the DualSense and wondered if Xbox gamers wanted a controller similar.

This controller was born from that pulled tooth praise.

Okay, maybe I should have read the article before commenting, the article said the same thing basically.

But it is surprising how similar they will now be, then also taking cues form the DualSense Edge with the modular thumbsticks, but what about the triggers will they also be swappable.

darthv72598d ago

I don't quite see how... this one has no impulse triggers or touchpad.
They are improving on the existing haptics and making it quieter to press the buttons and sticks.
I guess the only thing similar is the gyro and speaker... XB never needed either but it would be cool to see if they get used now when it comes to 3rd party games that use them on the DS5.

Abnor_Mal598d ago (Edited 598d ago )

Damn I wrote an entire comment hit send and it disappeared.

Okay people, let’s do this one more time.

You name two things that the rumored MS controller lacks compared to the DS, but ignore everything they have in common.

But then sun everything up by saying XB never needed either a speaker or gyro but it would be cool to get to use now when on third party games that use them on PS5. Like really?!

They both will have built in speakers something that the DS has been putting to good use with their first party games and third party games. I’m sure you’re not going to turn it off now even tho it wasn’t needed on XB. Thr gryos to control things on screen or even steer or aim with.

No touch pad but added a share button and as far thr triggers I’m willing to hazard a guess that DS style adaptive triggers will be included in a new version of impluse triggers. Then XB gamers will suddenly praise the idea of feeling the pull and resistance of a trigger pull. Thr haptics of feeling different types of surfaces when moving.

Downplaying and being excited for something at the same time is a bit weird.

Profchaos598d ago

They also took direct cloud connect from stadia and implemented it here for their cloud streaming solution

well, the switch 2 has two holidays in the us, thanksgiving and Christmas.

so id say its fairly possible. the rest of the world will also grab them

Abriael1d 18h ago

Yeah doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility as long as they have enough supply.

Si-Fly1d 8h ago

Do people buy each other games consoles for Thanksgiving? I’m in Europe and always assumed it was just Christmas where gifts were exchanged.

Skate-AK1d 8h ago

I don't think it's so much Thanksgiving, but that Black Friday is the day after.

darthv721d 8h ago (Edited 1d 8h ago )

That time is often referred to as the start of the Xmas shopping season. For the last few years, retailers would do 'black Friday' deals at various times throughout the year. While many still prefer to start their shopping in the mid to late November, others will just buy when they feel the time (and prices) are right for them.

gold_drake14h ago

i guess its more black friday, should have been more clear ha

Switch and Switch are a different kettle of fish. A sell out at launch by the diehards, strong sales, then the non diehards will be put off by the £75 ($99) games, including the stupid download cards which are topping £65 ($85). Not rocket science to work out how the Switch 2 is going to pan out. The PS5 has sold well, but games at £70, sales have been low. As game sales drop, prices will rise. Sony could knock out all their games for £40 and still make a killing selling more games. There's no denying that a gaming crash is looming.

Rancegamerx1d 4h ago

I agree, I don't see the Switch 2 selling anywhere near the numbers that these predictions suggest or what the general buzz is implying. While the initial sales will likely be strong, driven by diehard fans, I anticipate a gradual decline. It may not drop off immediately, but over time, sales will inevitably taper.

PRIMORDUS1d 4h ago

Not paying for something that's not worth more than the price it was advertised, which is $449 - $499.
