The role-playing game from the privately owned Larian Studios has quickly become one of the top 10 most-played Steam games ever
With a game like Baldur's Gate 3, a number of factors make it successful—but perhaps none are as powerful as its side quest design.
Article makes a great point and I agree with it but is spoiler heavy. It should be marked. If you haven’t played through the game be warned as it even spoils parts of act 3.
This game rocks, everything is quality, and I love the cutscenes, which remind me of Dragon Age Origin.

While we were so hoping to not have to update owners of the console physical Deluxe Edition with any further news of delay, we’ve now run into more production issues which means that players who pre-ordered their PS5 North America copy that was expected to ship later this month, will now have to wait until July before they can get their hands on them.
Got that email like 2 weeks ago. Tbh I'm not tripping. I understand sht happens. I'm just glad they changed their minds on the physical release
I with you. I got the email is well. Happy to eventually own a physical copy and glad it’s not digital only.
Baldur's Gate 3 is so good it might actually be a bad place to start with RPGs.
Baldurs Gate 3 was great, but I dont think it is as crazy as people make it out to be. I actually think Starfield is closer to being a crazy insane once in a lifetime game, but Im ready for the flak Im about to get.
In short, they put the consumer first and foremost, in that they created games they personally love and wanted to give gamers the best experience possible without nickel and diving them and wouldn't you know look at there success.
Same with cd project red prior to Cyberpunk.
There is zero excuse for other AAA devs backed by mighty publishers.
Diablo 4 had over 9000 devs and a longer dev time than bg3, and it's not even the same league as bg3, I mean it's not a bad game but people keep brining up larians dev staff numbers and budget when compared to other major studios the resources are nothing compared to others, diablo 4 is perfect proof of the types of resources some devs have.
Moral of the story is, it is actually possible to be consumer friendly and make a ton of money, the fact we all seem to think it gotta be one or the other is a joke. And giving big companies a break saying they need to worry about there bottom line is also ridiculous bg3 and the witcher 3 are 2 examples that come to mind.
It's Baldur's Gate. And it's Larian. No surprise here...
There is no secret. Publishers are going after bonuses and monetization schemes instead of investing in a game. Larian invested in the game and got their bonuses. Make a great game first, people act like this is some revolutionary concept.
