Baldur's Gate 3 PSA: "Long Rest as often as possible. It will reduce bugs"

Baldur's Gate 3 players believe they've identified an issue "halfway through Act 3", which some believe hint at "a weird error with the way [Larian has] designed the whole narrative progression".

Everyone acting like this game is the ideal that those 'other jealous devs' should be aiming for, meanwhile it had 3 years in early access and is still buggy.

Flawlessmic662d ago

Spoken like someone that hasn't played it.

That game is utterly ridiculous in its scope, systems, freedoms, choice, voice acting just everything.

The fact they managed to get this game functioning as whole, while giving you all this choice and story just goes on one way or the other.

A few bugs are to be expected, this game and larian deserve all the plaudits, I'm not sure why haters like you are trying to drag them or the game down.

And yes devs should absolutely be jealous of what larian have achieved here, if anyone else tried it the game would dead ass be broken, with fake choice and freedoms not to mention filled with mtx.

"That game is utterly ridiculous in its scope, systems, freedoms, choice, voice acting just everything"

If that were the headlines that would be fine.

But the headlines are "optimized to perfection" and "launched perfect day one"

Those headlines are the problem when the game still has bugs and performance issues. And they had a 3 year full price paid "early access" period to fix it.

And now I'm seeing you tube thumbnails comparing the 97 metacritic to Zeldas 96 when it's uncomparable because BG3 has 26 reviews and Tears has 140 reviews.

I just feel like theres some misinformation getting passed around for some reason. And i have no skin in the game as BG3 is technically a PS5 console exclusive and i haven't played or care about zelda.

And yet over the weekend I actively avoided a long rest for as long as I could because of a number of stat buffs I had that would go away with a long rest. No issues at all, compared to the week prior when I had some loading freezes.

I’d take this over some GaaS game in a heartbeat.

just_looken662d ago

exactly generic and dmc but this game is the new Jesus so man fans you think it can cure cancer or jerk you off pathetic.

Angyobangyo662d ago

Sounds like you're jealous of the devs.

Why is this marked as news? It isn't news. It is one redditor's conjecture. It mentions "all kinds of bugs", but not a single example is given (it mentions events being missed, which isn't necessarily a bug in a game like this). Person who wrote the post didn't even experience the issue. No proof is given that the "long rest" is causing the problems (again which aren't specifically mentioned), they're just guessing that it is.

dumahim662d ago

I really curious about this too. I keep hearing about late game bugs, but I haven't seen one person describe any of them yet. Only thing I can think of is they're trying to not post spoilers.

SinisterKieran662d ago

Okay but am I at risk story wise for doing this? That thing in my head doesn’t take over right?

darksky662d ago

BS advice. You deplete your food rapidly if you keep long resting. Don't really fancy running around checking every barrel and crate for food when they are mostly full of useless junk.

kythlyn662d ago

The bigger issue with this advice is that on occasion, long rests can progress quests... I remember one moment I long rested and 4 quests failed all at once because I had taken too long to get to them.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Is The Kind Of Game That Makes Me Wish I Could Play One Thing At A Time

I respect people who can dig deep on one game, and only one game, but I can't do it.

I used to play multiple games at a time but because of the time constraints I have I don’t have a choice but to play one game at a time or I’ll end up with some unfinished games. I like to get platinums for the games I enjoy the most so it can take me a long time to get to the next game.

It definitely takes some will power as I always have a stack of games I want to play at all times. But most of the games I play are really good and I am fully immersed when I’m playing a single game at a time.

raWfodog12d ago (Edited 12d ago )

Same here. I’ll focus on a game that I really enjoy and get the most out of it before moving onto the next title. That is why I have a massive backlog of games now.

Armaggedon13d ago (Edited 13d ago )

Same for me. I play so many games, currently playing oblivion, expedition, blades of fire, bg3 with friends , avowed, and Nioh 2. After learning more about myself and gaining mastery, I have developed an ability to get fulfillment from a game without needing to “complete” it. Unless of course, a game hooks me for the story, in which case I have to complete it to see what happens. I have discovered that in terms of gameplay, one can get most if not all of the expected experience in about 25% of progress through play.

Ninver13d ago

Sounds like renting is the best way to go in your case. No point in buying games you won't complete.

Armaggedon12d ago (Edited 12d ago )

It depends on what one deems as “complete.” For some, it is completing the story, and for others it is completing all tasks and objectives. Usually when this happens, people will feel “that was fun, whats next.” There is always a whats next. Cant think of anyone that has consumed media and thought “I am completely satisfied and will not need to play or watch another. I have simply mastered this “hunger” if you will. I am able to get so far in a game and then move to another without needing to reach a certain requirement. A benefit of this is that I do not get bored, as that game I didn’t beat still has mystries to unravel and new things I haven’t done.
