Baldur's Gate 3 Dev Larian Studios Has No Interest in Being Acquired

Swen Vincke from Larian Studios said: "I'm getting older, but I’m certainly not done yet. The strength of this company is that I’m very invested in the gameplay, and I also make the ultimate decisions. We can do things in service of the games we’re making."

pffft, it's an empty statement in the context of who & how much have they been offered to be acquired?? Seriously people make lovely statements all the time until a big enough check is sitting in front of their faces. Sorry at the moment I just dont believe anything said in this business, lol unrelated but wasn't Jedi Survivor just announced for ps4/Xbox one but before the devs said no because last gen consoles wouldn't be able to handle their vision for the game?? I get it, It's all just business, hype, promotion, etc, which is fine but I wish everybody would just stop the BS talk, just make games & just play games...the rest is politics.

Remember when Ninja Theory praised their independence? All that changed when MS threw a bag at them 😆

It's no secret that MS wants to consolidate every Western RPG studio. I'm sure they'll try to make a play for Larian at some point.

shinoff2183689d ago

None of the dev speak is exactly new. It's gone on for ages.

Good! Stay independent. You are striking gold, platinum and diamong with your latest three games. Bought BGIII today and am just about to dive back in. Still in the very beginning, but can already say it is a masterpiece. I didn't think it is possible to up OSII but they did it. A lot of OSIII vibes from BGIII.

neutralgamer1992689d ago (Edited 689d ago )

Yes please. So many acquisitions. Focus on bringing your games to as many platforms as possible. Acquisitions means cutting off other platforms

BH3 for me maybe a day one full priced games. I never buy any AAA games day one anymore because it seems almost all of them need post launch patches.

Tapani689d ago

Played a few hours already and didn't see any bugs. Ratchet & Clank still is much buggier (reflex, audio, fps, directstorage, clipping, falling bugs and problems still persist with that one.) BGIII feels like the real deal, the Enhanced Edition on launch day. Dunno how the later chapters will be, though! Maybe they can fix them before I reach there, the game is massive and long.

The only issue I heard was the game not saving for some people probably because of the steam servers getting overloaded by all the people downloading the game

Soulsborne689d ago

The future of gaming is every studio will be owned by one of the big three, M$ started this and it wont change.

anast689d ago

They will be making mobile games if they get bought out.

Don't forget they've put a lot of these on gamepass and ps plus so you can add that money to it. Good to see Sega going strong

Happy for sega ! I was expecting some kind of showing of their newer games at game fest but maybe they’re keeling it for TGS? Crazy taxi and jet set needs a trailer or something soon !!!

Playdead co-founder slammed with lawsuit as bitter row with co-founder escalates

Playdead co-founder Dino Patti is allegedly being sued by his former studio and business partner.
Patti was threatened with a lawsuit earlier this year after he posted a now-deleted LinkedIn post that shared an "unauthorized" picture of co-founder Arnt Jensen and discussed some of Limbo's development. Patti said Jensen demanded a little over $73,000 in "suitable compensation and reimbursement," adding that he had "repeatedly" had such letters over the last nine years.
