Games Asylum: "By 1992, the humble NES was starting to look pretty tired as it entered its twilight years. Sunsoft hatched a plan – to create Gimmick, a new platformer with the look and feel of a 16-bit game. While this may sound like an impossible task, the developers had created a new tile set tool that freed up processing power, while the Japanese Famicom version included an extra sound chip for enhanced music. It also helped that the developers at Sunsoft already knew the NES inside and out."
Run, jump, die, repeat in this update of a "classic" -- and one that surprisingly holds up well.
Gimmick! Special Edition gives a technically impressive, challenging blast from the past a well deserved second chance.
Gimmick! Special Edition is releasing on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC platforms, bringing the unique platformer to a brand new audience.
