Halo Infinite Scraps Seasonal Cutscenes Following 343 Reshuffle

Brian Jarrard Tweets: "PSA: As we've refined our top priorities and shifted resources internally this year, we had to make the decision to forego seasonal narrative cutscenes to make room for the team to continue focusing on highly requested features, content, and improvements for Halo Infinite.

These trade-offs are never easy to make, and we truly appreciate your support as the team works to make Halo Infinite the best experience possible. While the job is far from over, Season 4 marks another big step forward and we remain committed to this journey with the Halo community."

So basically, "Thanks for buying our incomplete game. We're not doing cutscenes anymore now, either, because of [reasons and excuses], but once again, thanks for your money"

This game was a disaster.

I know a lot of people really look forward to those cut scenes. Sorry man :( Haven't played this since season 2 but looking forward to trying out the new forest map and infection mode.

I don't really get into the seasonal cutscenes for multiplayer games. The story is so sparse it's usually just away to introduce their new cosmetics or whatever. I often forget about it 30 minutes after seeing it.

I don't really follow Halo Infinite that much, but the only way I would see this as truly a negative is if they had people still focused on in-game cosmetics that you spend money on, then it's kind of a meaningless reduction solely because players won't pay for it. But, if they're not doing that, well, then at least they're being honest with all their reductions and are focusing on gameplay/content over style.

And people want to give this company control over even more IPs. They will run them all into the ground with their mismanagement.

It is what its. Season 4 im installing now. Lot of cool stuff in it.

ChasterMies715d ago

This is basically what happened with Halo 4. The game launched with seasonal, co-op missions that would continue the story. But the performance was terrible and the numbers weren’t there to support it. So 343 killed the seasonal content and went on to make a mediocre Halo 5.

Microsoft: We have $70 billion to buy ACTIVISION.

Also Microsoft: we don't have the resources to fix our flagship IP.

Noskypeno715d ago

If the budget for Halo infinite was anywhere close to what the rumors were, they could have created the most expansive game, rivaling Rockstar, with a fully detailed world. There is no excuse with the resources given to them. 343 is like that team that keeps getting top draft picks but keep losing, because the management doesn't know what to do.

"The story would have been expanded through yearly campaign DLC, so players would not have to wait for another mainline Halo title." ~ this seldom works
But I still think, they should've tried 1 last Halo sequel based on that slipspace engine, that they invested so much on but made for current gen only, before going all in on UE5.

Call me a cynic. But it seems that not even the people working in the studio know what’s the status of Halo.

They were going to add a BR mode, which then got cancelled, but now it’s a sequel to infinite, but may be a reboot of the first game?

It may be normal for development to be like this as super Mario galaxy started as cut content from Mario 128, which then became a tech demo, which became pikmin, which eventually became Mario galaxy.

But 343 or whatever they are called now-certainly don’t have a good track record so it makes me wonder what’s happening.

porkChop199d ago

The Halo: CE remake is a separate project from the Infinite sequel.

Knightofelemia199d ago

Maybe all the staff got laid off.

TheColbertinator199d ago

I'd be much more comfortable with the future of Halo if "343" or whatever they call themselves now were no longer in charge of the series.

WTF!!!? Can we add Tic-Tac-Toe, maybe Connect 4? How bout the card game Go Fish? Microsoft should shelve the Halo Franchise for 10 to 20yrs or sell it clearly they have no new ideas to take Halo forward and putting a "Hey gamer finish the game for us" mode and we can make more money off it and we can fire some more game Developers that we really don't even care about.......Microsoft is done even trying to make Halo a game worthy of even a little bit of our time.
