Xbox and PlayStation disagree on the future of the forever game

Phil Spencer thinks Game Pass allows for a more relaxed approach. Is he right?

^^didnt say it was 1-1 exact copy... just that they are copying gamepass. They do add new releases from 3rd party (like gp). Just cause they add newer 1st party releases later doesnt mean they cant be compared.

Sony is not copying Gamepass. Lately Sony may get one current day one release of an Indie game but most of the games that release on the service every month are classic & older titles whereas Gamepass gets mostly several current Indies every month including a AA game every so often. No comparison. PS+ has been out before Gamepass.

You guys try and clown all the time about Sony not putting first party on ps plus. How exactly is that copying. And to kill the whole shit ps now was out before gamepass. Xbox was desperate and put 1st party day 1

I've been on the side of the aisle that was all about owning things and physical media. Now that I passed the half-century mark, Im not as inclined to own things as much. I just play, dont care where it comes from, or how I obtain it.

Last night I just added returnal and stray to my library from ps+. I will play starfield and forza on gamepass when they release. Im good with playing games in subs.

Game pass clearly will be the best approach. It took years for Microsoft to build up game pass to were it is today and there platform is universal from console,pc and cloud.

I disagree with you 343 I want them to be balanced not one having good games while the other having average or mediocre games I want them to have good looking games not games that look like 2 generations ago, I a healthy competition not a monopoly.
I already passed the half century mark and I like to keep my games, having a game service is good but it shouldn’t be the only way to play games.

The difference is that Microsoft uses its Windows and Office business to fund Xbox and Sony uses its PlayStation business to fund the rest of Sony. So Microsoft can afford to give up game sales but Sony cannot. If game subscription gets big enough, it will overtake game sales in the same way movie streaming overtook Blu-Sales. Until then, Sony needs those game sales.

The thing is digital taking over was forced in gaming. There's still plenty off us that don't want anything to do with it. People in areas with shit internet , no high speed, rural areas, and even some cities the internet blows. We've had rainy weather all week , and internet service been tripping. It's cut off on me while I was streaming on twitch , cut off on me while I was watching prime. Infrastructure just isn't their. I live in PA and have spectrum

I'd say Sony is in the best position by far. They've made serious moves into areas like subscription services and GaaS but they're still raking it in from game sales.

Putting all your eggs in one basket has always been a dangerous strategy. Not even high risk high reward just unnecessary risk. Better to keep your options open.
