Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Will Reportedly Feature Three Separate Skill Trees

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will feature three different skill trees. One for Miles and Peter each, and the third one for shared abilities.

Bathyj120d ago

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will allow us to simultaneously switch between both characters at a whim, making having separate skill trees even more convenient to the users.

Has this been confirmed? We've seen them switch characters at a certain point but do we know if we can do this during regular gameplay? That would be my hope. Even mid combo.

Destraride120d ago (Edited 120d ago )

It is confirmed that it will be possible during certain story moments according to the official blog. Though no mention of its availability in regular gameplay yet. The article has also updated the vague wording to explicitly state the story part.

SDuck120d ago

I don't see why it wouldn't be possible to switch during free roam

Abracadabra120d ago

Wasn't impressed with the Spiderman 2 gameplay video. Looked like Spiderman 1 with a lot of QTA's... guess it's for the cinematic experience. Seems more of the same, like a DLC.

mkis007120d ago

I'm sure you hate sequels to games then.

Shadowsteal120d ago

Can you help illustrate what you would have liked to see from a sequel?

GhostScholar120d ago

I don’t know if you’re aware of this, but that’s what sequels do. They change small things but keep the spirit of their predecessors. The last of us, horizon, god of war, Zelda, mass effect, etc they all do that just so you know.

__SteakDeck__120d ago

It’s sad that today, gaming sequels are not allowed.

Daeloki120d ago

Calm down it was a 10min clip of the gameplay, and it was a chase scene. Personally this is a way more entertaining way of doing a chase scene, compared to the ones we had in the first game, like Shocker and Black Cat where you just swinged after them for a few minutes. But more than anything else, did you even see the symbiote suit? How fucking amazing it looked? The symbiote suit was my main concern, since it's one of my favourite sides of Spidey, and I couldn't be happier with the direction they took.

I wonder if they're being sneaky in saying that there'll be a "shared" skill tree but in reality it's a separate skill tree for Venom. Cause they must know people will wanna play as Venom.

SDuck120d ago

I can see the shared skill tree being true so you don't need to unlock the same move for both spideys (like gliding for example).

My guess is, there might be more than just 3. I can see Symbiote Spidey getting a skill tree too

z2g120d ago (Edited 120d ago )

I’m pretty underwhelmed by everything I saw of Travis game. I’m already burned out on superhero themed things as is, and this game looks nearly identical to the last one. It’s almost like they just “Call of Duty’d” it. Also - even tho they are cool and all, I’m actually starting to get bored with Sony’s big set piece moments. They’re so common Sony games now it’s starting to make those moments feel less special. I dunno. All this stuff just feels so corporate driven now. I miss wild, edgy, creative, out there Sony.

Lore120d ago

Skill trees alone are so simplistic, people should expect more from these companies

Chocoburger116d ago (Edited 116d ago )

Not just simplistic, but lazy and shallow game design. There's a reason why so many games these days have them. Because it doesn't require creativity to implement them.

First: Create a character and a move list.

Second: Strip away all the fun abilities.

Third: Add grind elements just to gain the abilities that the designers took away, which also makes the early game boring.

Fourth: Grind for EXP in a vain attempt at making your game feel as if it has "character progression".

Fifth: Casual gamers who don't know any better love this, because they're tricked into believing that the game has "depth", when in reality, said game let's you progress through grinding instead of skill, which shows a lack of depth.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Will Let Players Hop On The Coney Island Park Rides

Insomniac Games‘ Jeanette Lee has revealed during an interview with publication golem.de that players will be able enjoy the Coney Island Park rides in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

Kaii20h ago

You know when you play games and you randomly come across these things? I'd prefer that.
It'd be nice if users could shadowban topics related to upcoming releases.

I'm sure 2d into release we'll have articles on "How to get the Spider-Man Noir suit with voiced dialogue by Nicolas Cage"

Inverno7h ago

When the first game came out Doc Oct was spoiled as the final boss in the title of a submitted article less than a week after release. So yes a word "mute" like option like on Twitter or a tag mute would be a welcomed feature.

Outside_ofthe_Box17h ago

I'm loving the level of detail that's going into this game

MetroidFREAK2115h ago

I'll ride every one available. Best have trophies attached to this

I will do here what I won’t dare to do at the real place, ride the rides.
