PlayStation Showcase 2023: What did everyone think?

It’s almost time to see what’s next — PlayStation Showcase broadcasts live next Wednesday, May 24 at 1pm Pacific Time / 9pm British Time.

The show will run a bit over an hour, focusing on PS5 and PS VR2 games in development from top studios from around the world. Expect a glimpse at several new creations from PlayStation Studios, as well as spellbinding games from our third-party partners and indie creators.

I know this sounds crazy but my wildcard bet is GTA6 Announcement. I think you may be on to something with Alyx though! Also something completely unexpected for PSVR2.

- Metal Gear Solid
- Half Life - maybe, PSVR2 needs it, but unlikely
- Dino Crisis ---- absolute wild card but hey, dreams can come true
- Not Bloodborne
- New Gran Turismo I reckon

Well damn... I lost. Oh well, some of the games did look pretty cool. A bit bummed there werent more VR2 titles shown. I'd love a killzone VR or Resistance VR game.

Microsoft can definitely have a better showcase than this I can almost guarantee it. Hellblade and Starfield alone will be enough. I'm actually interested in summer gamefest and the other show case. Sony held back big time just to show off Spider-Man which looks great but come on now. After almost 2 years this is all we get 🤔

Bend started full production in 2021

Sucker Punch is still making Ghost 3 assuming, and is too early for anything. I'm surprised factions didn't show up though.

Phantom Blade 0 with no release date or release window was given but was the only big title besides SM2. I'll say this is the weakest showcase Sony put on in a long time though.

No he said 3rd party and Indies and several third party studios and "spell binding" games. Everyone got swept into he euphoria of the possibility of the PS showcase (including myself ) and over hyped their show.

Big Sony guy here but that was Shockingly bad! Waited 2 years for this! loads of games was missing the only thing we got was Spideman2 and that just much of the same as the first one! 3/10 this is what happens when there is no competition let's hope Microsoft steps it up next month!

I agree Microsoft has to go hard to get Sony on their toes. This is the reason I don't get hyped for showcase anymore. I keep my expectations low

First disappointment of the game show season.

I just really wanted some exciting psvr announcements. Resi 4 will be great but I just wanted something not announced and of that scale.

Don’t hold your breath for MS one being much better, I would love it to be amazing but they’ve consistently let us down pretty much every year for near on the last decade now. If they dedicate too much time to star field it’ll be super disappointing because it’s out 3 months later. We need some unknowns to be announced for the near future.

We need gta 6 next year or we’re screwed

But the entire last two years mops the floor per the competitions last decade of being in the gaming business with two indie games being their leading quality titles.

Mann so much for playstation showcase.

That was fancy 3rd party state of play.

First time literally ever I have been disappointed by Sony, and iv been playing since ps1.

We wait a yr and half to see what ps studios are cooking up and you effectively show us 1 game right at the end.

I guess there's a first time for everything but that was kind of embarrassing.

Spider man 2 look amazing as expected but that's about it.

100% What a s**t show, besides spidey 2, metal gear and Phantom Blade the rest was meh. My personal opinion of course.

Really nice 3rd party showcase with cool sequels like Alan Wake II, Dragons Dogma II, Ghostrunner II and the new IP Phantom Blade zero
But no updates from any Silent Hills, Pragmata, Stellar Blade,
RE4 VR and Arizona Sunshine II were pretty good VR showcase
Indies were good ...
But ... first party mainly comprised of only new Live-service title announcements. Lol
Spiderman 2 was the only saving grace at the end.
Seems like MGS Remake announcement was the main star but it was leaked wayy before for it to become the ultimate surprise.

Well... one thing is for sure. MS wont have to show any of these games since Sony already showed them. Which could mean more actual XB games to show in June.

I agree. This show was trash. I'm a huge Playstation fan but this was disappointing. We waited all this time for this? Were their good games that I seen, of course but it was still trash. Where was all of their 1st party? Huge L in my book. I don't want to hear excuses either. I just expected better from Sony. Where was all the gameplay for these games. All those games shown running on PC. I can go on but their is no point. I'm going to buy a lot of the games I seen but I wanted to see more 1st party. I'm speechless. Logging off again. I think most here actually believed in that previous so called leaked list of showcase(including me) well at least some of them.

For me though...MGS3 was enough.
