Hogwarts Legacy Cut Content Contains Reputation, Morality System and More

Hogwarts Legacy cut content includes references to more spells, a reputation system, and more ways to immerse yourself in your school life.

lukasmain760d ago

Sad that this kind of stuff was not included in the game. If there's a sequel, they better include all of this.

jznrpg760d ago

Yeah it’s unfortunate.

If done well they can add a lot to a game . The reputation/morality system would go well with the good/evil routes and I’m sure that was the initial plan. Hopefully they can overcome the obstacles that made them cut it in the next game. I’m sure there will be another as the first game made too much money not to make another

Christopher760d ago

I'm glad morality wasn't added, it likely would mean an achievement just so you wouldn't use curses. Those are just too fun to not use and would have felt like gated content rather than something you can use freely (and, honestly, really help with battles).

lukasmain760d ago (Edited 760d ago )

An achievent/trophy for not using curses would have been dreadful. Meaning you'd have to do 2 full playthroughs. Perish the thought lol. Still, I would like morality in the 2nd game. That would be so much more fun. I want to be a mean bully like Draco Malfoy lol

Silver_ShadoWolf760d ago

They got lazy and realized making two separate stories was Not going to be easy.

jznrpg760d ago

I would guess time and budget constraints was more to do with it than just laziness.

FPS_D3TH760d ago

How do you even claim laziness when the game is a clear labor of love. What an ignorant and clueless comment

Zeref760d ago

Lazy? 😂 You're literally insane

ModsDoBetter760d ago

Lazy?

Gamer entitlement right here, folks.

Don’t like the product, don’t buy it.
There is no way they got lazy.
A house based points system would have been AMAZING but there would be so many branching pathways and the storyline would have to be altered depending on that, it would be a complete and utter headache to implement successfully.

jznrpg760d ago

It has been done but it isn’t easy to do for sure

Bathyj760d ago

Lazy is the most overused word. You think a movie director puts in every frame they shoot? No, they edit and cut what isnt working for whatever reason it's not working.

jjb1981760d ago

There was nothing lazy about this game. That's a far-fetched accusation.

BlaqMagiq1760d ago

And yet there is no way in hell you would do a better job than them at the labor of love this game has.

Rutaprkl759d ago

Go make a game yourself and then come to complain.

XiNatsuDragnel760d ago

Man we need this in the game or in sequel please

Inverno760d ago

I was expecting an RPG based on what they were saying over the years and instead got another boring open world game. Guess they chose to chase the mainstream rather than making the game too overly complex. I don't think I'll be buying the next game unless they add more ways of roleplaying as a student. Can't keep spending money on these AAA games that follow the same boring overused formula. Wasted potential and I can't help but feel disappointed.

jznrpg760d ago

Fist games rarely ever hit the target of what they wanted to do.

Hopefully the next game can add in what they were planning.

Inverno760d ago

Considering how long they took to develop it, seems like it may have been a conscious decision to cut these features. Maybe they'll surprise us with the sequel, but sequels these days tend to be more of the same with the usual popular features shoe horned in cause it was popular in another game. Like how every game now has paragliding.

jjb1981760d ago

What were they saying over the years?

Inverno760d ago

That it was an rpg, which it clearly is not.

Inverno760d ago

That it had companions, which you do not, least not outside of quests specific to the 3 characters you make friends with, and you follow them, not the other way. That there would be choices, but there are no choices in the main story except for the random choice in the end for a good or evil ending. Evil or Good ending plays out essentially the same and makes it seem as if you could end up an evil wizard even tho morality isn't a feature. That you'll be attending classes but they were nothing more than just intros for "companions" and turn into nothing but cutscenes with every spell you learn. They hyped it up as something more than what it ended up being.

Takwin760d ago (Edited 760d ago )

It is an amazing game, a labor of love, looks great, and it delivered excellent value, if that's your thing too. I'm glad to see they explored some ideas, and I think they could be included in the sequel, which is definitely happening, because it's fucking Harry Potter, they are rebooting the movies, and IT'S HARRY POTTER! I teach middle school, and nothing is more popular since this came out - not Marvel, not Star Wars, and the only two things that have the stamina to be popular over many years past and future are Fortnite and Minecraft (source: anecdotal data from thousands of kids in a rural Midwestern school).

AuraAbjure759d ago

Haha kewl comment, thank you.

anast759d ago

Middle school is a rough age to teach. I commend you.

Couldn't go 2 sentences without bringing up JK Rowling's viewpoints (which are now acknowledged and supported by the UK Supreme Court). Time for all the "progressive" whiners to latch back on to reality.

Playstation owners buy games.

Strange seeing Hogwarts there as I downloaded it for my son from PS Plus a couple of days ago.

InUrFoxHole45d ago

Playstation owners buy games? That's a wild badge of honor my boy.

Bathyj44d ago

Not really. It's directly contributed to having the healthiest console and ecosystem. Not really debatable.

The alternative is a console platform holder whose least important customers are the ones who own their console. That's why it's Microsoft games studios now not Xbox in all but name.

Microsoft needs PlayStation, PC and Nintendo players now more than they need Xbox players. They're a dying breed.

andy8544d ago

Not really. That's why Xbox is going under consoles wise. PS gamers purchase stuff that's why console and game sales are always high. Xbox gamers want games for 'free' on gamepass and to enter at the lowest price point (series s)

VenomUK44d ago

@InUrFoxHole said “Playstation owners buy games? That's a wild badge of honor my boy.”

This Tuesday after The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion was finally revealed I saw a tonne of conversation on X/Twitter of people gleefully mocking PS5 owners who said they were buying the game, as they were getting it for free with Game Pass. Yes, that’s great value for people with a Game Pass subscription - but do you still not see how it has impacted the Xbox hardware platform? It’s the reason Indiana Jones and Oblivion and Forza Horizon 5 aren’t exclusive anymore.

ravens5244d ago

InUrFoxHole, its wild that you think that's wild lmao. 🤯. You buy your food from the grocery store?? Ugggh. You should get Factor. Who pays for food anymore when you can pay a subscription to receive food for "free". Disgusting.

Sound stupid? It is.

InUrFoxHole44d ago (Edited 44d ago )

@Bathy
That's some cope there. You think the healthiest console is the one that doesn't even provide their gamers with their exclusive games? That crazy talk man. The healthiest is Nintendo and that's 💯 not even a debate. MS provides gamers with games. Sony provides you with MS games. Enjoy

@andy
You have broke brain. Gamepass isn't free. It's a sub service. Jesus n4g knows how to pick'em

andy8544d ago

@InUrFoxHole notice I put free in ' ' these? Doesn't take a genius. Every game that comes out on Xbox you'll see this comment "is this coming to gamepass".

2nd on the charts for a game such as Indy ain’t great.
Releasing half year after xbox version probably cooled off some demand.

This is a very good game, deserves the best chance to do well.

badz14944d ago

The real great performer here is Astrobot. keeping that rate of sales for a last year's game that is not GTAV, CoD and FIFA (now Hogwarts too). outselling MH Wilds and EA FC is kinda wild for Astrobot!

dveio44d ago (Edited 44d ago )

Hogwart's, Indiana, Astro Bot & Monster Hunter - that's a pretty nice top 4 once again.

I bet MachineGames are quite happy about the sales pouring in.
