How does Worms persist? Who tf plays these games?

I'm not sure how popular they are these days, but during 1999 in the dial up days Worms 2 was great. I started getting into online FPS in late 01 early 02 though once I first had broadband.

Much rather play a Worms game over chess though for sure.. Armageddon still gets updated today. I think this is the type of game they made way too many different versions of and some were pretty much not needed. One definitive game is only needed every so many years and they can just give updates every so often to keep it fresh.. But as for new releases I'm really not sure what they could do that hasn't been done already.
