Kinda surprised BestBuy has then in stock as of today and not the dumb ass 16 pin design either. 8 pin from board partners. I'm thinking about it, but I'l also waiting for AMD to stop dicking around and have a card to compete with the 4070, and no not last gen. Soon there will be a 4060/4060 ti and AMD is just watching dumb asses.

Yeah i wonder what is going on its always been a blow by blow with card release dates but team red is doing nothing not even talking about a 3rd gpu card.

But that 12gb of vram on a 4070 will not work on tlou resident evil and warzone 2.0 maxed out 4k i own a 3080 its vram is now maxed out :(. That is the big thing on all gpu cards is vram limits.

XxINFERNUSxX741d ago

Yeah this is weird, they always have something new to counter Nvidia, or vice versa. Even if it's in a couple of weeks but this time not even an announcement. The 12GB VRAM might be ok for me to replace my 3070. I do game on a 1080p/360hz so I can probably play at max/high with some RT. Now I need to think lol

AMD isn't releasing anything because they are trying to fix their drivers for this architecture. The 7900XT and 7900XTX actually are nerfed because they were running into an artifacting bug before launch. They weren't able to fully fix it with the drivers in time for launch so they had to nerf the cards so the bug wouldn't occur. They don't want to do that with the rest of the lineup so they are holding them back until they can fix the problem or make the nerf have less of a performance hit.

Best Buy was misleading. All were "Add to cart" this morning only to take you through the wait list and say none are available within 250 miles. But some now show availability as soon Tuesday?

So I ordered a Gigabyte Eagle OC 4070 from Newegg, thankfully 8 pin and supports 650W PSUs which not all 4070s do! Certainly an eye opener compared to February 2022 - this was actually at MSRP for the card and the 3070 Auros Master I bought back then *definitely wasn't*. I'll be selling that 3070 at a huge loss... With the 4070 around I don't see how the 3070s will retain their value for much longer.

And then to your point on AMD - there don't seem to be even rumors of midrange cards anytime soon. Nvidia's competition is pretty much themselves still.

XxINFERNUSxX741d ago

I know of that add to cart and then you can go through to buy it, I didn't try yet. So you got yours from Newegg nice, I'm still thinking LOL. Yeah man 8 pin FTW, screw that 16 pin crap it's not needed. I have a EVGA 850 W Plat. so I'm ok there. I also have a 3070 I bought back in Jan. 2021, and I will probably sell it at a loss to. I usually sell my older PC parts on https://sellgpu.com/ . Seems like it, as you said Nvidia is just competing with themselves, getting most of the sales while AMD is just watching on the sidelines.

I think a lot of them have a double 8 pin to 12 pin cable included.

@taco

I would not grab a 4070 that quiick for the price you could get a 90used or go last gen amd.

The only new thing 70 does is dlss 3.0 everything else is just better performance but that is only seen at 1440p/4k.

Also crypto bros can use 40series right now do too firmware blocks so your 3070 on ebay could fetch a high price.

My PSU is just 650W, and replacing my 3700X with a 5800X3D a few months back was a disaster that ruined the 3700X and mobo along with it (damn thermal paste acted like glue when removing it...)

So my PC is maxed out and I don't have the energy to mess with replacing a PSU too. Extra few gigs of VRAM is all she could be beefed up with

It’s essentially a 3080 with DLSS3 and less power draw. Good if coming from 20 series, otherwise skip.

XxINFERNUSxX742d ago

Also brings the power of greed. Cost should have been between $499-$549.

IanTH741d ago (Edited 741d ago )

Honestly, with less than 16GB of VRAM - which we're already seeing affect titles - this should have been a $399 RTX 4060Ti classed product. The first GPU with 16GB of VRAM was in 2015 FFS!

Sadly, Nvidia is seeing profit growth even with falling GPU demand. And they seem to be happily making up for it by selling less cards for more money. These new cards have the smallest wafer sizes/high yields compared to past cards, and they have the gall to keep increasing the price WELL above inflation. It's insulting. We'll have to wait ANOTHER generation of cards, see if any cards of fair value manage to appear.

And gotta hope Intel or AMD are hungry enough for market share to drop pricing low enough for the next round of GPU launches so Nvidia has no choice but to respond. The GPU market won't likely ever feel like the old days, but at least have it feel as value vs performance oriented as the modern CPU market.

Waste of money, get a much faster 6950xt at the same price and don't look back
