PS3 action RPG Demon's Souls was infamous for - and defined by - being bastard hard. Bravely, developer From Software has decided to make PS3 and Xbox 360 successor Dark Souls (formerly codenamed Project Dark) even harder.
Oh dear, IGN and most of the so-called "professional" gaming journalists might nerdrage and throw their controllers out of their windows.
Demons Souls is still one of my favorite games this gen. I'm sure this game is gonna be awesome. Hopefully this game going multi-plat means more money for the devs 'cus they really deserve it. Also, hopefully it will do well in a twitch-shooter dominated console.
demons souls wasn't even really hard. all you have to do is take your time and not rush through it. and its got the easiest final boss in history.
of course when you hit ng++ that should be about the time for you to break anything within a vicinity of 5 ft.
EDIT: does anyone know whats up with that broken archstone. thought it was gonna be dlc so shouldnt they get started on that before makin another f'king game?
@young juice, true that. It wasn't hard which is the word most people use to describe it. It was however, very unforgiving when you made the wrong move. People tend to oversimplify.
True young juice.
Its really only hard right at the beginning but once you level up character wise and weapon wise as well as getting some of the important rings its gets siginificantly easier.
For me the beginning was the hardest part.
@young juice
The easiest final boss in history? 1-4 was so god damn hard, especially since when you lost to the boss, you had to get all the way back to him, and if you were not able to kill the 1-4 dragon yet, it was super hard to get back to him(especially if the allied guy fighting his way to the top died and stopped taking the fire blasts). The only reason he was easy was because you could poison him to death without ever fighting him(which I eventually had to do), aka, glitch him to death. If you fought him strait out like you were supposed to, he was hella hard.
naw man penatrater (was that the name?) was easy all you gotta do is get the keel smasher and not kill the one guy(forgot name). hardest boss in the game was flamelurker. only way i can win is by glitching it up by hiding behind bones and using my weak magic.
but the game is unforgiving....VERY
LoL Penatrator? He is the boss of 1-3, and hella easy, you even have help. I am talking about the boss of 1-4, the False King.
"Oh dear, IGN and most of the so-called "professional" gaming journalists might nerdrage and throw their controllers out of their windows."
Are you complaining about the score they gave? How old are you?
@Active Reload
Where did I state that I hate them because of the scores they gave?
I only said that because most "professional" journalists complained that it is too f**king hard but in reality it isn't. They are probably used in playing games like CoD that always hold your hands pretty much eliminating most of the challenges and skill required.
They should slowly take their time and plan their attacks carefully. Not rush directly to a mob of enemies pretending to be Kratos. Games like Demon's Souls required skill, CoD does not.
If you have been into gaming since the era of SNES, the games are hard compared to this generation because of the frequent auto-saves, checkpoints and overpowered weapons/skills that is present in almost every game released this gen but are absent in Demon's Souls.
If they are supposed to be gaming journalists, they should at least have some "proper" gaming skills because it's their job to play games.
Most? Your exaggeration shows your youth.
"Where did I state that I hate them because of the scores they gave?"
I didn't say you hated anything. You used Ign as an example for your reasons of complaining. Ign gave the game a 9.4 and yet you still criticize them. If you're going to be the first commentor on the article at least state something informative about the article...a summary would've been great. I guess maybe you were trying to be funny or cute so you could get a lot of agrees, but to me, comments like yours clog up the comment section.
Why does this sound like the same stunt that Team Ninja pulled with Ninja Gaiden Sigma.
Demon Soul = Dark Soul
@Snake (have to be specific because there are 3 comments ahead of me that AREN'T REPLIES):
lol, but I don't think so since it's on 360 too. They're going to praise it as the game of the century.
I just hope going multiplat doesn't mean Dark Souls will be a step back from Demon's Souls. I'm thinking specifically of Heavenly Sword and Enslaved when I say that. Two similar games, one exclusive and one multiplat, and the older exclusive looks and plays better. Maybe it will turn out ok as long as they don't change it too much. I am disturbed by the brighter world though. Part of what made Demon's Souls so great was the oppressive atmosphere.
Believe me, I know how you feel about the exclusive going multiplat thing. But I'm not too worried. Even though Demon's Souls's graphics aren't often mentioned, they were definitely not shabby! But at the same time they weren't absolutely necessary to the experience.
Actually, Demon's Souls turned out to be greater than the sum of its parts, and that's really why I'm not worried. Because I'm sure that, even though they're developing for multiple platforms this time around, it shouldn't have any effect on their magic.
YES! YES YES YES!
This makes me so happy. I'd have been equally happy with a Demon's Souls expansion, but whatever. Awesome. F***ing awesome.
IGN gave super meat boy a lower score because it was too hard... BECAUSE IT WAS TOO HARD... ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? Just goes to show how fucking lame they are, play all the games they get on easy mode an can't handle a challenge. I beat Super Meat Boy, took me about 7 hours which is more then some full games!
Demon's Souls was LAME. It was an exercise in business suicide. If you want a challenge, that's what advanced difficulty levels are for. Instead, we got a game that marginalized core gamers while stroking the ego of the most hardcore. How is this a healthy business practice? How is this sustainable?
GTFO. They sold more copies than they ever anticipated. It is refreshing to have a serious old school game that doesn't hold your hand in this new world of dumbed down broad audience games. Go back to business school so you can sell more of the same dull crap with a different name.
@edgeofblade: Atlus USA reported, and initiated a world tendency event, that Demon's Souls is the most successful game they have ever published in 20 years of business. You tell me how that's business suicide.
If anything, we need more games like Demon's Souls. Games that just drop in, no hints, barely any story told, and say "there you go, beat the game because we're not telling you anything else".
Get rid of Superguides that beat levels for you, endless tutorials that remind you how to frickin' jump, or the Enslaved platforming defect.
The game is only hard if you're some twitchy spaz who plays nothing but floaty FPSes and runs into every room as if he's indestructible.
If you're a cautious, methodical player, you're fine. Soundtrack for DS was pretty epic too, still have it on my playlist.
Wow, how can you even ask that question?
The main theme song is awesome, completely sets the mood of the game:
http://www.youtube.com/watc...
Great strings and piano track:
http://www.youtube.com/watc...
I love this song just because Garl Vinland is a strait up pimp:
http://www.youtube.com/watc...
I am not going to post more, because I don't think we need a mile long list. Honestly though, Demons souls has some of my favorite video game music since Hollow Bastion in KH1.
EDIT: lol grammar.
according to the massive landslide in dislikes its just me who hated it but then again i loved all the piano stuff from heavy rain the weird sci fi stuff from the mass effect series and the god of war music etc so dunno its just not to my taste
You know there are white people in Africa right? You don't have to be black to be African...only born in africa
and yeah, I only died 3-4 times. Not sure how you were playing, but it's not hard to stay alive if you're paying attention. I also played as a Royal, so I had a regenerating magic attack right off the bat.
And ChristianGamer is right. There's not only dark-skinned people in Africa.
@Christ399
You used the wiki straight away?
Where's the fun in that?
You're doing it wrong son.
@ChristianGamer
I'll add that to my notepad.
Cheers.
Wow, how egocentric of you to assume that there's a "right" way to game and that YOU are the voice of that movement.
I have two houses, two mortgages and a full time job. I don't have the same leiusure hours that I used to in my teens, so yeah I use guides (gasp). Sorry but life takes precedence over gaming. I'm not using hax or cheats, just information, when I need it. No shame in that. I don't want to clock 90 hours into a JRPG/ Action RPG just to realize that I missed something crucial for my character. That's a complete waste of time. Time, which becomes more fleeting as we get older.
You game how you want, I'll game how I want. Peace.
@Chris399
hmmm relax dude, the guy is right... Using a guide for a game like this is like playing without the 'soul' of the game. But you are right you can play the game like you want to.
How is that possible? I died at least 100 times and I still havent beaten the second world.
first runthrough is hardest and while i didnt die unintentionally a large number of times i did die a few mostly due to my own mistakes
plating the game is easy if your clever only first run through is actually hard
You used a Wiki on your first playthrough!?
To each their own, but that would have spoiled the experience completely for me. One of the joys of the game was facing down a new foe and working out how to kill them (or even if I could kill them).
Grabbed it before there was any North American release, cost me like $150. I also don't like to "miss" anything in RPGs - secrets, treasure and whatnot. I never consulted it for strategy, just an overview of the game as information was quite scarce and most was in a foreign language at the time.
To back up Chris, the Hong Kong version's menu screen was all broken English, and the instruction booklet was completely in Japanese. It was necessary to use the wiki just to understand what half the items in your collection were.
Jesus Christ, the game isn't that hard, it's just punishing if you don't adapt to it's pace.
but there are a lot of trial and error parts where you will die a lo,.....oh ive just realised you used wiki guide for first playthrough...why would you do that!? whats the point?
sorry mate but you suck
I died a lot on my first playthrough....as well as subsequent ones. I also died at the hands of many, many black phantoms who invaded my games (I referred to them as "@ssholes")
I was one of the @ssholes you refer to. I had a infatuation with jumping into random players games and killing them. It was a true test of skill. Instead of just outsmarting the AI.
Dearest Astraea....I have failed you...
It's because you're bragging but you aftually used a guide. It's like saying you're the best gamer in Counter Strike 1.6 but using hacks. Yeah, it's not hard at all when you know everything that's gonna happen before it happens. Cautious with a guide on hand... pfft.
Chriss99
What's funny is that you state the game isn't even hard unless you're a twitchy spaz who plays nothing but FPS, yet you played it using a guide (which makes it easier).
I'm sure had you went into it blindly it would have been a little harder for you.
Hopefully the 360 version is two disc cause I would hate to see the ps3 version get gimped cause of dvd9.
question, how big was Demon's souls?
never mind. I found torrents and they seem to all be around 5-6 gb. Not bad for one of the best action rpgs of the last few years. I guess size does not matter. ;)
Demon Souls was not huge space wise and the graphics weren't crazy.this game going multi will hopefully bring in more success which means more new software.
Demon's Souls didn't pushed the PS3 hardware so the 360 version would probably be on a single disk.
Not like Demon's Souls was hard or anything.
But ah, with the "seamless world" do they mean an open-world game?
Because, if so, then that'd hype me greatly, y'see.
Demon's Souls wasn't hard tbh, just punished you severely for being careless. They had the balance spot on.
I can't wait for this. I like having an open world and hopefully more of a story to go with the action would make this the best rpg ever.Exploration with some difficulty would be amazing.
I don't know - I love the game, but it was definitely hard enough. I do like the removal of tendency and a brighter world if true.
You have to be kidding, right?
Day one opurchase and 50 hours of flustrating but fun gameplay confirmed
Demon's Souls was never hard, it was challenging and punishing. There's a massive difference.
The difficulty / challenge in this game reminded me of the old days when games didn't hold the players hand all the way through.
Can't wait for Dark Souls
woooot!!!
only thing i want more is better character creation! amazin ggame
i'm definitely excited for this game. however - i'd LOVE for sony to have someone put out a proper sequel to DS.......i want to know what worlds are behind those broken arches!!!!
For an old school gamer that game was a breeze. It was only tough for these "new age" gamers that need their hand held all the time
Im a old school gamer too.. And I found the difficulty quite reminiscent of old times when I was a young gamer.
Y'know before all quick saves and regenerating health became standard..
Have to wait and see if they are right.
<a href=" http://us.playstation.com/p... src=" http://fp.profiles.us.plays... width="230" height="155" border="0" /></a><br/>< a href=" http://www.us.playstation.c... your Portable ID!</a>
I really need to finish the first one. Damn I wish I could stop time just to play these games. Oh well, I'm looking forward to the challenge.
Is it possible now that I could get a Demon Souls official guide...by any chance. This limited supply crap is frustrating at best.
It wasn't that hard, if you took your time the game was fair, the only reason you'd die is through rushing and taking risks.
I died twice in my 1st playthrough, through my own stupidity
good the difficulty is addicting. It makes you want to kill said "Demon" even more.
Yes!!!! a spiritual succesor to Demon Soul!!!! Dark Souls!!!! Getting it for PS3 or 360. Its even going to be harder than Demon Souls? Oh crap harder than the Flame Lurker, and the two Maneaters, and that King at the end? Wow!!! Hope this game comes out in 2011. This game is now my most anticipated game of 2011, next to Twisted Metal. Despite them being 3 different RPG games, Dark Soul could possibly rival Elder Scroll Skyrim, and Mass Effect 3.
The game was about balance, and it was perfect.
Not hard so much as you had to think through each encounter....Truly the definition of an ACTION RPG. Not just a hack and slash with rpg elements.
My favorite game of the decade.
If this game is half as good...Count me in.
I hope they don't mean "cheaper" by "harder". First DS had some really anoying ways to kill you and you didn't had a chance to do anything about it (yes, I'm looking at you Tower of Latria and those damn falls).
Everything about this game sounds better and better when I hear it. I love the idea that dungeons will be even harder, but I love the fact that the game will focus a lot more on exploration now. That means a lot more breaks between the action, but when you run into action, it'll be even harder. That's just awesome. I'm giddy with anticipation.
If you thought Demon's Souls was hard then you must've started gaming this gen. The game wasn't hard at all.
I've been wanting to pick up Demon Souls for a while now.
Now is my chance.
Also the newest game will be pretty dope to experience.
From what I've seen it's more about being patient and studying the enemies to look for that critical attack to take down foes.
Some bosses from what I've seen are pretty hard but their not impossible to beat.
Just like with anything else practice makes perfect.
Eventually you will beat the game.
Some people it may take longer but it's not impossible.
If anything games like this make you a better player overall.
I'm totally shocked that Sony wouldn't lock Dark Souls in as a PS3 exclusive. With the lost of FF i thought Sony would look to acquire another Exclusive AAA rpg.
Wow strange decision. Maybe Demon Souls 2 will come later as a PS3 exclusive.
Sony own the IP for Demon's Souls, which is why this isn't Demon's Souls 2. From Software aren't really aligned to anyone though, so I can see this being released and Demon's Souls 2 also coming at a later date for PS3 only.... or NGP....
Great news about it being harder than Demons Souls. I'm all into gaming challenges.. Hopefully some of the gamers who claim DS isn't difficult can post their among brilliance for Dark Souls. ; )
Hopefully the improvements to graphics and gameplay will be significant...
But I doubt it since they added an extra SKU (360) which will definitely work against them pushing the PS3 hardware
That is psychotic.Demons' Souls bordered on aggravatingly frustrating and they want to make it harder? Do me a favor. If you want to top demon Souls' don't make it harder. Fix everything else but there is a fine line between challenging and just plain annoyingly hard e.g. Battle Toads and Ghouls and Ghosts. Don't cross that line and mess up the franchise.
harder sound nice. I love Demon Soul. I have lvl 477 toon :D which means I played about over 1000 hours.
Demon Soul was not stupiditly hard. It was more like, you make a mistake, you pay for it which is why it was really awesome for me.
I did break one controller though :D
Japanese magazine Famitsu has revealed some new details on Project Dark, which is the spiritual successor to Demon’s Souls.
demons souls was prolly the scariest game ive ever played. i actually rage quitted becuz of its insane difficulty....im a wuss
i didnt read the article yet but i wish its like the demon souls with more new things. i love the way the multilayer is implemented.
Can't freaking wait. Loved DS because it was a challenge non of my friends could figure it out. Knowing the next game will be more open and just as challenging makes my day
I hope they actually have a story this time around. Demon's Souls was good, but the story was barely there. I also hope they improve on the multiplayer. Depending on your level you may have a huge influx of PK's coming into your area, other times you wouldn't see anyone of days. The multiplayer just needs to be tweaked a bit to allow players to more easily engage each other.
Completely agree with your assessment of fixes. Demon's Souls is a gem, don't get me wrong, but it could use a more developed story and better multiplayer (pvp) elements. But thats what spiritual successors/pseudo sequels are for so I'm glad they are making improvements.
I'm curious about the exploration element of Dark Souls. In Demon's Souls you essentially had 5 levels that were all very expansive but also linear. This limited exploration but also enabled you to master each level as you learned how to beat its various enemies. I wonder if FROM SOFTWARE is going to take a page from open world games like Oblivion and allow the player to truly go anywhere... Levels will be linked, but how will the save progression work in an open world game? Where do you go when you die? Also I can imagine its hard to make an open world game trial and error. My guess is that the game will have a large open world in which serves as the "hub" and the player may travel to various dungeons by exploring the hub game world. If they implement the game this way, you basically have a hardcore Zelda- all the levels are separate dungeons and linear while at the same time your able to explore in the greater hub world area:-) This is the only way I think they can pull it off. Between this game and Skyrim, I'm going to be busy.
It probably will be DS only tailored around social elements because of XBL. A framework which wouldn't have worked where you're suppose to be a lone warrior in the process of losing their humanity while trying to save humanity.
Also sounds like they want/have figured out how to put DS into a GTA/sandbox world.
Where you'll likely have the wonderful experience of wondering into an area you're just not prepared for.
Sounds like more of a nudge in King's Field's direction this time around.
In other words, count me in... again.
lol i really hope they somehow make this cross platform i'd love that
lol a man can dream
so this is an open-world demons souls style game multiplatform interesting. it'll be better than demons souls.
So it goes multiplatform and becomes better?? No way! So 360 isn't at fault for removing towns in FFXIII?
If it feels like demons souls it's a day 1 for me, what I love about demons souls is that there is lot of room for improve ment .
I can't wait myself. I picked Demon's Souls up this past July. I'm not a big RPG fan or anything, but I was hooked. 93 hours later I had the platinum trophy. IMO Dark Souls isn't that great of a name, but that doesn't matter. Having a more open world sounds nice. Having five separate levels kind of made each seem pretty small.
I'm glad they're keeping the whole player interaction system in. It is amazing how I feel like I'm playing with others when most of the time I was on my own.
I myself don't care about World Tendency not being implemented in the next game. It was annoying as hell at times to get some of the trophies. It won't be missed at all.
I'm also glad they're working more on the animations. I can't wait to see what this "mutual role playing" thing is all about.
I can see why they're making it for the 360 this time around. However I don't think they'll see a huge increase in sales since the majority of the 360's fanbase plays only shooters and don't give a crap about RPGs at all. If Sony marketed the game better then it would've sold better. In the end I really don't care as long as features aren't cut from the PS3 version due to the 360 version.
I just hope it is an upgrade and improvements over Demon Souls. I really dig the arts design in Demon Souls too. I used my sexy fluted knight's armor from start to finish.
This basically is it. So if you pass this, then you won't be getting the successor to Demon's Souls.
lol DS2 wouldn't even make sense at all it's not even possible cus Demon's Souls ended the story.
Asking for DS2 is like asking for Shadow of the Colossus sequel lol
sounds good but soul tendency was one of my favourtie features of the last game. It made it absoulutely brutal if you fail a lot in the game. But i understand that if they incorporate again they would have to have dedicated servers on 2 consoles instead of one. Anyways the PS3 versions seems to be the best because of the free online (everyone can play online) plus i like the fact that they are staying away from traditional multiplayer modes.
I'm excited, too bad about the removal of WT but I'm sure the new components will be just as intriguing. Glad everyone will now get a chance to play it as well, DS is still one of my favorite games.
i hope if i die i dont have to backtrack all the way to my bloodstain for a few souls. i loved demons souls but didnt really like 3ddotgame much. im looking forward to this and hope theres another lsom in the game and more light clothing options besides just some shamans rags and circlets.
I still haven't played Demon's Souls...
(i know, i know...)
I saw it at the store the other day as a "Greatest Hits" title, you guys think I should buy it already? Is it really GOTY material? I want a deep, satisfying RPG but I'm scared of Demon's Souls because I heard it's hard, lol...
So, should I buy the game?
Yep, buy it. I played a decent sized chunk of DS and it isn't as hard as people make it seem. You just gotta realize early on that the whole world wants to kill you and to just use logic to understand what to do. I got through the first level just using common sense and remembering how I died last time.
Logic, common sense, good memory and a lot of patience. Have that and you'll love it. The game is really deep. Honestly a bit too deep for me. But I enjoyed the many hours I spent with it.
Long story short, rpg lovers: get it.
I'll admit it
I was scared of buying DS at first because all of the previews and hype building before release claimed it was haaaard!
And it is, depending on how you play it. Try to run in and hack & slash, and it's damn near impossible.
But use strategy, cunning, patience, and timing... it becomes extremely manageable, fun, and rewarding
And if that's not enough, you can always summon other players to help you through it.
Buy the game.
It's a unique experience that every gamer should... well... experience :)
^ @ReservoirDog316 @JoySticksFTW
Alright, thanks guys! That's actually what I wanted to hear before I buy the game, hehe.
I'm hoping this is gonna be my first great PS3 RPG experience. (Dragon Age doesn't count because it's a lousy port and FF13 only sorta counts because the game isn't deep enough) :p
Duuuude! It'son 360 as well. Which to the clever people means that with FURTHER success of the game now being on to major platforms the wonderful developers will be able to keep bringin these hard-to-the-core, brilliant games. OW! PEACE GAMERS!!!!
The game sounds really good and I have faith that it will be an excellent RPG, but even though these press releases and previews are doing their level best to make us think it's going to be more of what we loved in Demon's Souls, I am starting to feel like it will actually be quite different. So it will have some of the online features and message leaving and watching other players' deaths and so forth, that's fantastic. But it just seems like it's going to be more Kings Field than Demon's Souls once you get past that.
Making it an exploration game instead of a hub-based game absolutely and totally changes the dynamic of how the game plays. Not having world tendencies is a huge change. That little feature of Demon's Souls made a whole lot of difference in how the player had to go about things, from when and where they could travel, to what items they could collect, to rebalancing of difficulty in battle versus ease of discovering rare items in an inverse proportion. It made you have to tread very carefully because you were either going to have to be very careful in body form so as not to die and lose world tendency if you were trying to stay in white tendency, or you would have to go around in weakened (but more stealthy) soul form the entire level.
And with an open-world exploration type of setting, how will the death consequences be able to mirror that of the original? You had to go all the way back to the beginning of the stage, you lost all of your souls and could have an opportunity to get them back if you were able to get back to the spot of your death. Without being a stage-based game, how can you recreate that?
I have other concerns, as well, about how this game will be able to recreate the same sense of danger and accomplishment and carefulness necessary to succeed in the original and everything else, and I do think it's best to assume this will be like Demon's Souls mostly in terms of some of its online features and the atmosphere of the game (graphics, visual design, music, sounds, etc.), and to not expect it to be the same type of experience in gameplay as Demon's Souls.
I think this game has a lot of potential to be another hugely awesome experience, but again, I think it's going to be quite different.
i understand what you mean, they may have a binding system that binds you to certain points if the whole world is seamless. maybe if you die you will be sent back to the binding point. or there is a binding point near every dungeon and one at certain intervails on the main world since its gonna be huge.
im sure it will be awesome even open ended. im guessing you never played kingsfield? same creaters. Demon's souls was a successor to the kingsfield games. Kingsfield was an open world, although first person, very difficult and unforgiving aswell. you were scared just to walk in any direction because enemies could sense you even if you couldnt see them. they would shoot magic at you and you would have no idea where it was coming from so you would have to take cover.
im sure dark souls will borrow alot from kingsfield and mix it well with demons souls. its gonna be an amazing game and since i played KF i know that their open worlds are scary, if not scarier than demons souls
I'm really happy to hear about the exploration & the greater development of levels. But I'm not too sure about the lack of class system as I liked this in DS in PvP combat as it gave you an insight into tactics. However I'm sure this game will be most excellent. Day 1 for me ; )
game sounds AMAZING!!! cant wait, biggest games im waiting for now are FFVersusXIII and this!!! cnt wait
all the people hating on this game going to xbox are truly trolls. nothing about the original DS was only doable on the ps3 by far(mebe the autosave feature, not sure if xbox does that). people give DS a free pass on many things it does not do that they would crucify any other game for not having, like the fact the npc's mouths do not move when talking. try that in any fps shooter and it would be 1/10 across the board regardless of anything else the game offered. the fact they are doing an xbox version shows they have a larger budget this time around so i expect improvements in all parts of the game.
if anything the inclusion of the xbox this time around will benefit the game. it will likely feature a better party system and hopefully voice chat thanks to those features being more common on xbox games. im sure many of you can relate. trying to play with a friend, get summoned into random persons world instead. *XXbob69XX has summoned you*. white stone out to try again. get c rank from douche player, give them a c rank in return. repeat.
some things i would like to see improved is the upgrade system. while it was a really great system i would like to see the inclusion of more armor and upgrades for it. would also like some balance in the stone distribution. spending 8+ hours trying to get that pure bladestone was ridiculous while pure greystones dropped like candy but not the chunks. also the ability to party with your friends could be improved. hope they leave black stone invasions in, that was alot of fun, from both sides. mebe even an arena to do "friendly" duels would be a nice touch. chances are both these system will have been changed due to copyright reasons, i just hope for the better. also being summoned to play as the boss, old monk, was a really interesting mechanic that could be explored further
looks pretty nice.. I've had a little bit of experience with Demon Souls and I saw first hand the headaches it could cause. either way it was indeed a very fresh feel to gaming.
