^ I can't see it taking long. They 'announced' it alongside the remake (even if by accident!) at the State of Play last year. It's in the same engine as RE Village, so they should be able to lift and drop the mechanics from there.

Any delay from this point is likely only either testing, further enhancement over the already awesome VR integration of RE8 or they are maximising RE8 sales on PSVR2 and avoiding cannibalising their own franchise sales. All I know, is I'm waiting and going in fresh - I'm not ruining the impact with a pancake playthrough beforehand!

PC version looks the best and sharpest version according to DF. Quite a difference in clarity cuz the consoles can't run native 4k and have lower res textures.

PC version is so dang smooth! And the amount of graphic options, and the way they show exactly how it affects each component of your PC... It's amazing how well they handled it. Especially with so many sub-par PC ports coming out lately. Capcom knocked it out of the park with this one. Can't wait to go through this, when I have a bit of time!

Of the horror titles receiving a remake this year, RE4 is most definitely the most consumer friendly. The RE4 remake is $10 cheaper than the Dead Space & Silent Hill 2 remakes and is also cross buy on 8th gen hardware.

It’ll also be better received critically and commercially than its remake contemporaries.

The dead space remake did good though. I appreciated it. Dead space and Resident evil 4 are in my top 10 easily. “Enhanced versions” of these things yes please. Let’s give EA some credit for not sabotaging that game like they did their former studio.

I would be a bit depressed if that turned out to be true, especially in a Zelda year.

I'm sure it's going to be great and there's every reason to believe that, but if a remake of a game that has been remastered and reworked every generation since it first arrived on GameCube wins GOTY, that's a bit of a scathing indictment on the industry.

Way to be overly dramatic.

1.) A Zelda game being a Zelda game doesn’t just automatically make it a GOTY title. Other than OoT and BotW, no other Zelda title has ever won GOTY award. 2 titles in a longrunning series makes your claim ludicrous. It lost more years than it’s ever won.

2.) Resident Evil 2 already won GOTY in 2019 from the Golden Joystick Awards, among various other awards from other outlets. Resident Evil 4 currently has a higher score on Metacritic. Don’t be surprised or depressed when this title rightfully gets included in GOTY discussion

3.) Getting depressed over an award is just plain sad. Whether a game wins or loses an award shouldn’t have any kind of effect on what you enjoy.

The fact that a remake of one of the highest rated and most influential games ever made has basically struck lightning in a bottle twice merits a GOTY nomination. It really speaks to the love and attention the developers paid to not only recreate, but refine and reimagine what was already considered perfect and not only make it better, but once again one of the best reviewed games in this decade. If a game or it's developers don't deserve an award for such an achievement then I don't understand gaming anymore.

So am I being dramatic or am I really getting depressed over a video game? Because you're saying two different things in the same post. I'll answer for you: you had it right the first time. If it wins, so be it, but I definitely don't think a remake of a 20 year old game should be GOTY unless the entire experience is different (like RE2). Just my two cents.

On to your points.

1. Obviously, it is not a forgone conclusion Zelda takes it. But the competition is Final Fantasy XVI and Starfield. I don't think they're up to the task, but that's just me.

2. If the experience is completely redone as it was for RE2, cool. You're really reading into the "depressed" thing (even though you begin by stating the opposite).

3. Normally, I'd shrug off comments like this, but once in a while, you see one that's just silly. I addressed the end in the beginning, so we'll leave it there.

Metroid Prime Remastered and The Last of Us are both sitting at an even higher scores on opencritic. Remasters of classics equal guaranteed accolades. It does beg the question of eligibility of "GOTY". The trend may snowball even more.

One of the things I didn't like about the demo is how they kept the enemy sounds just like in 2 and 3 remakes: always loud and making it sound like the enemies are right next to you, even when they are far, far away. Some people defend it saying it "raises the tension", but I just think it's annoying.

Crazy how this game was a pivot for the franchise in the wrong direction, was a fantastic game, and gets remastered when the franchise has finally been redeemed. I really feel like with this game coming back the franchise is redeemed in full.
