CG writes: Having played through Capcom’s just released Resident Evil 4 Remake demo several times in regular SDR, we decided to crank things up a notch and go the whole-hog. Not only did we activate HDR, but pushed the game’s render resolution to 150%. We’re not sure on the math, but it’s way above the native 4K base we were using. Either way, the HDR itself offers a far darker tone to the game. Where we can’t imagine going back to SDR. The darkness felt much more oppressive, brooding unseen horrors, where Leon’s flashlight (in the cabin section) illuminated the grotesque imagery that inhabits that area of the demo. Either way, we’ve recorded the game in 4K HDR, and strongly suggest you take a look at our complete playthrough of the demo at its best (Youtube compression aside).
Former Naughty Dog dev says Resident Evil 4 inspired Unchartted and even Gears of War, particularly the over-the-shoulder camera view.
It revolutionized third-person shooters, in a genius way that gives you full control of aiming.
I thought this was common knowledge. Resident Evil Revolutionised over the shoulder aiming in 3rd person shooters/action games
Influenced basically every third person action game made after it, GTA uses the over the shoulder perspective when shooting since the 4th installment, Red Dead Redemption 1 & 2 too and the Batman Arkham series has the over the shoulder perspective as the main camera throughout the whole game series.
Obviously there are a ton more examples but you get the point 🗿.
Discover 10 timeless video games from the past that remain absolutely playable today. From Chrono Trigger to DOOM, these classics have aged like fine wine!
Hot damn that's a good list. The only one i never played is AOE2 and i never finshed Chrono Trigger but it was damn good.
Speaking of what's old but holds up amazingly well and plays like a dream.. i played Symphony of the Night for the first time in 2019.. yep that's right. It became one of my favourite games of all time that i replay almost every year. I couldn't believe how good it was. That is almost impossible for me with newer games let alone older ones. Truly a special gem.
The only one I’d disagree with is doom. It shows its age badly I think. After 5 minutes of play these days you put it down.
Includes savings on The Crew: Motorfest, Resident Evil 4, and much more.
Finally a current PC game that's fully optimized and taking advantage of the hardware. I actually like the RE engine!
I'm playing on PC but find that Leon's hair almost looks like it has scan lines at times.
Has anyone else noticed this?
I'm playing on a LG OLED and have the game set to 4K with hair works on I believe high.
this is not how it should look,.. reshade * CRT filter on max,.. + Ultra wide,..) Somethink like this to make it look proper,..

My pc can run it like this as well but the game keeps crashing.
Man, this game is shaping up nicely! RE4 is my favorite of the franchise, followed by (original) RE3. Played the demo on console, and it was fantastic! Gotta check this out on PC to see how it runs... Either way, definitely supporting this. Only issue I have with it, so far. Is the fact that you can't turn off the crosshair/reticle on the HUD without turning everything off... I dig the no HUD option, but it's kind of dumb that it even turns off prompts to check things, pick up items, etc.
