Widespread PS3 & PS Vita Issues Preventing Fans from Downloading Games

Sony’s legacy systems, the PS3 and PS Vita, are throwing a wobbly it seems. There are widespread reports, right around the globe, of purchased games not downloading properly from the PS Store. It’s unclear what the exact cause is: PS3 received a firmware update recently, which could potentially be related – but that wouldn’t explain the problems with its handheld counterpart.

"There are widespread reports, right around the globe, of purchased games not downloading properly from the PS Store" dark times apparently.

How many people still use a PS3? I'd assumed most of them moved.

FallenAngel1984786d ago

Many other people still play on PS3

You think everyone just gives up on playing a platform forever? Especially when various games can only be played on those systems?

IanTH786d ago

You are correct that most of them moved on, obviously, but many people still play it - myself included.

I enjoy going back to old games, and Sony hasn't graced us with any kind of backwards compatibility for games pre-PS4. I actually even buy PS3 games still from eBay and the like to add to my collection. This is part of the reason right here - downloads are just not guaranteed in any fashion.

The servers will go down at some point (likely in our lifetime), or some issue like this crops up and maybe they decide it isn't worth the manpower to fix. Who knows. I've got as many games downloaded and installed with their updates as I can on my PS3, generally just hoping for the best while preparing for the worst.

Not everyone exclusively plays the latest and greatest, brah.

My only issue is I have PS1 classics that no longer show in my download transaction history and I wanted to move those off onto my vita. If the game is delisted from the store... it should still show in my history having purchased it.

IanTH786d ago (Edited 786d ago )

Not sure if this is a related issue, but one of the more recent PS3 firmware updates removed the ability to move PS1 games to PS Vita entirely. Which is just an absolute boneheaded move IMO. Just pushes even their legitimate customers towards CFW, which puts people that much closer to piracy.

Regarding the not showing in transaction history, though, was it just on the PS3 you couldn't see it? Have you checked on the web portal for that history, or double checked any of the PS1 games they have on PS5 that you would have access to a free download of if you had purchased it in the past (like Wild Arms)?

This has already been fixed btw.

I hear rumors that Evercade may also be getting a Namco Arcade cart with RR and Tekken on it. That would be sweet as their previous Namco Console carts have also recently been updated to work on the VS. Previously, they only had the license to the handheld. so the OG Evercade and the EXP and even the Alpha were supported, but not the VS.

Am i the only one that wants a Ridge Racer Type 4 Remake?
