BLG writes, "Some of the most popular games have had a rough start, with some of them being downright unplayable.
Despite that, developers have managed to turn it around for them and make their game worth playing. Here are some games that had a rough start but were pretty great."
Sea of Thieves... I'm not disagreeing that the game has improved in terms of content. But I feel that the most significant change between now and its release is actually the public perception. Nowadays, most people are aware that the game is a multiplayer PvP-focused experience first and foremost, and not "Black Flag made by Rare". Consequently, people dismissing the whole experience because the single-player aspect is lacking or the story is plain are much less common.
Days gone! By the end of the game I couldn't drop it down! I went around so many hours killing zombies! It was addictive by the end.
PCGamer: DICE managed to turn things around, and I'm sad that it's over.
Imagine if it were this good from the get go, then grew into something even greater. Good on DICE for supporting the game for as long as it did, but people seem to forgive and forget too fast. I would never blindly praise any game that took years to get to a point where it's actually worth playing AFTER I payed full price on release day. Also Fallen Order says hello
We'll be getting a new Battlefield game next year, but Battlefront 2 won't be getting more free content.
Frostbite 6 hopefully with fully destructible environments, and a free to play battle royal mode.
Cant wait to see what it looks like and what next gen features it'll bring.
Dont forget Vince Zampella managing DICE now! And sure this guy know to create GEMS (Titanfall, Apex, Star Wars...)
I really just want Battlefield to be Battlefield again, so focused on Conquest-mode, with well-balanced maps that will allow you to play in the role you please, where you're not hopelessly reliant on squads and vehicles.
These devs seemed intent on having as big a map as possible, with as many people on that map as possible, and basically forcing you to group up and use vehicles, and in the end that just diminishes the role you as a single player have in it, thus you feel less special for accomplishing something cool/good.
I remember in 1943 just successfully defending a flag as a single sniper, and taking out tanks with my mines.
In BF1 and BF5, especially with kill-cam giving away your position, that ability to kinda go on your own and do your sneaky thing and making a difference, has been killed somewhat. Of course, with team-communications you're always going to be at a disadvantage against squads who can quickly communicate your location to each other, but the kill-cam has made it far too easy for the opponents to figure out your location and consequently deal with it ...
Tried it. Flat-out awesome.
