Horizon Call Of The Mountain Review - The Climb Meets Horizon In This Stellar Showcase - PSU

From PSU: "Despite its linear nature, Horizon Call of the Mountain remains a truly stellar showcase of the PSVR2's capabilities. From the retina-searing 4K HDR visuals that are generously bleeding with detail and fidelity, through to the deft use of haptic feedback and adaptive triggers in the PSVR2 Sense controllers which ensure that players are utterly immersed in the climbing, exploration and combat within its world, Horizon Call of the Mountain is a highly enjoyable action adventure that fans of both the series and great VR games in general can effortlessly enjoy."

Can't wait!!!! Sounds like lots of fun.

SullysCigar805d ago

Great to see all the positive reviews for this! I mean, I hoped it would be good, but you never can be sure. All the previews were glowing, so it seemed safe to assume, but this just removed all doubt!

crazyCoconuts805d ago

I didn't get the bundle with the game... I'm hoping this comes out on disc so I can resell it afterwards. I really want to check it out but don't want to fork over $60 for 7 hours of gameplay

They talking PS6? It’s say next gen.
I don’t mind devs going for hyper realistic graphics but they better make the game fun.

Scissorman275d ago

I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's a PS5 game, as the team had this project in their pipeline before the begining of the PS5-era.

Scissorman275d ago

How is this news? We've known about this project since before the team was acquired by Sony.

samwoods123275d ago

It’s not saying they’re working on a game, the article said reports were it was a horror game, but there’s new details about what it’s trying to achieve and more about the style of game as you can see in the title

I wonder if it’s bound for PSVR2? I’m intrigued.

But I didn’t love Call of the Mountain as much as I thought I would. It’s not in the same ballpark as RE8 VR IMO. Obviously this will have a different director than that game and I am hopeful for deeper gameplay mechanics and better balancing.

I really wonder why they don't create solid games in PSVR2, Very capable but only gimmicky, bland games available. alot of games should be able to be ported over. Seeing how GT7 has made a huge splash and impact on the platform. I feel like Sony needs to really push Devs to consider the compatibility FPS games "COD/Battlefield" would be next level in VR.

Babadook7273d ago (Edited 273d ago )

Are you referring to 1st party only?

Because there are a lot of great games. Do you own the headset?

C-H-E-F242d ago

LOL, please point me to the games that are AAA quality on this headset. Point me to my COD/BF games... not those gimmicky shooters on the platform. Blood Money was the best VR experience and it was only on the PSVR. The PSVR2 doesn't even have the library to stand up against PSVR.

I don't care what party, I want great games on the headset. Horizon VR was weak so don't even put that in your list either.

Babadook7241d ago (Edited 241d ago )

I’m shocked you haven’t heard of Gran Turismo 7. Resident Evil 8, Resident Evil 4 Remake. All absolutely amazing games in VR. But if you don’t own the headset you wouldn’t know. There’s also Hubris, Synapse, Madison VR, Red Matter 2 and Propagation Paradise Hotel. I actually agree about Call of the Mountain; it’s not great other than the graphics. Pavlov is actually a great shooter if you like competitive games but that’s not my thing anymore. The games I mentioned represent an amazing first year on the market (nothing remotely bland about it) and I think it even surpassed the also amazing first year of PSVR.

Best VR Game of 2023

VGChartz's Lee Mehr: "2023 was a notable year for VR hardware, with both Sony's PSVR2 and Meta's Meta Quest 3 arriving on the scene. Both of them have primarily earned a considerable amount of praise for their technological advancements, but that's not to say their software output was extinct. Granted, early adoption tends to favor older ports with improved visuals and new controller/headset gimmicks; it comes with the territory. But within that flow of ports and updates came an exclusive for each respective platform reaching our shortlist. It's too early to tell if that presages a bountiful surplus of future masterclass VR games, but it's a welcoming sign all the same."

“Horizon Call of the Mountain” had more bells and whistles and has some wow moments for VR newbies. But I had more fun playing “Synapse”.

DaleCooper472d ago

Synapse was my VR GOTY. Such a great game.

coolbeans471d ago

Damn. I want to try that one soon.

Leeroyw472d ago

Red Matter 2 was it for me. The visuals, scope and writing was incredible.

coolbeans471d ago

Another one I missed from last year.

DaleCooper468d ago

Just picked this up, can't wait to play it!

coolbeans471d ago

Don't spoil the surprise for everyone. ;)
