Hi-Fi RUSH puts you in the beat-up sneakers of Chai, a wannabe rocker wrongfully labeled a “defect” by a sinister tech corporation. Everything in Hi-Fi RUSH automatically syncs to the music, from swinging your trusty guitar to dodging out of the way of an oversized metallic fist.

Players must feel the rhythm to enhance Chai’s actions, pulling off heavy Beat Hits at the end of a combo like a cymbal crash, or syncing up with one of his allies for a devastating tag-team finisher. In Hi-Fi RUSH, every battle is an opportunity to play out your own music video fantasy, seamlessly coordinating all your moves with the soundtrack.

It looks great to me. Gameplay looks fun, the art style is creative and full of colour, the universe looks wacky and fun, the soundtrack is really interesting. What's not to like? I don't understand why smaller projects are now being shunned as GP filler. Some of the most memorable experiences for me are smaller games like Flower, Transistor, etc.

this actually looks too good to be on xbox. It seems more natural as a PS game as it is just quirky enough to appeal to that demographic. I hope it does well with xb users though, lord knows the platform needs some unique titles to call their own.

I'm kinda interested in it because I like both Rhythm and Action games, but it's obviously a budget game, I'd have to try a demo before I could say whether it's a game I would enjoy and play though.

If you like rhythm action, try Metal Hellsinger. It's a great game that it looks like this HiFi Rush has riffed off. You kill your enemies to the beat to build the song combo, so it's similar, but it looks a lot nicer with a DOOM-esque aesthetic.

Got in from work before midnight & decided to download the game to try it out. I played for a half hour & I must say it's a cute game so far. I love hack & slash games, the gameplay isn't bad at all & the visuals are nice for a cartoony game.

The issue here is that everything not labeled as a AAA, game is immediately tagged as gamepass filler. It is as if ALL the development studios have thousands of developers working on two or three AAA projects at once (which frankly is not realistic given the rising of development costs).

Sometimes small budget games are being pitched and small teams are being assigned to them as proof of concept.

Some of those projects turn out to be great games (A Plague Tale, Stray, Hellblade, Sackboy, Pentiment, to name but a few), and certainly fill a space between sparse AAA releases.

You also have to remember that PS subscription service also offers lots of lots of indie and double A games but I guess those are excellent.

Plus this is a new IP and has yet to be reviewed. Immediately dismissing it as shovelware, means that you do not leave room for such titles to nurture. We as gamers should encourage new concepts, IPs and ideas.

You cant argue about MS not leaving creating freedom to developers and then come back swinging at them when they allow the release of new IP of small scale.

Besides the game just launched and therefore will not tie any other studio resources at this point. If anything they are free to develop another project.

You have to remember that Tango Gameworks is a relatively small studio and already launched Ghostwire last year and now Hi-Fi Rush, so their latest output is not terrible by any means.

I feel the exact same way, and realistically I don't personally have the time to play 5-6 long, deep story/mechanics games as I use to. I actually enjoy and have more fun with some of these smaller titles over the bigger AAA games.

A few examples are
Horizon:FW....I was so bored with it, but I love Vampire survivor.
Far Cry 6, was ok but I stopped, but I liked/finished Ghost Song
