Game is dirt cheap now and has been for a year or so. It's not terrible for the price of £10.

GoodGuy0965d ago

I played it on gamepass free and still didn't like it...

sadraiden65d ago

10 pounds to play a mediocre live service game?

It could be f2p and I still wouldn't. Surely everyone has a backlog list longer than their arm. I don't think I'll lose any sleep if I don't play Avengers.

Oh no...how awful

...Anyway

I was actually really excited for this before it came out. Thought you would start with low level villains and Square would add increasingly spectacular ones as time went on, up to Thanos or Galactus level villains. But as far as I can see you're still just fighting the same robot things and they've just reskinned a few of the Avengers, several years later.

I think if done right this could have been great but man, they just didn't care.

I think that was the plan but they got caught up bugfixing and underestimated the level of content they need to regularly drop to keep players engaged. Same issue destiny 1 encountered.

Aside from Sony's Spider-Man games, Has any of Marvel's AAA console games actually been successful in the last couple of years? It seems like MvC Infinite, MUA3, Avengers, GoG, Midnight Suns all underperformed?

-Foxtrot65d ago

"MvC Infinite, MUA3, Avengers, GoG, Midnight Suns all underperformed?"

Out of all of them I think Guardians was the best out of that list and it only failed because people were off put by Avengers awful direction.

CobraKai65d ago

I’m playing Guardians right now and it’s great. I feel like Avengers did set it up for failure

CorndogBurglar65d ago (Edited 65d ago )

MvC Infinite made a lot of bad choices with the roster and added an "easy combo mode" to make it less competitive. They removed a lot of fan favorite characters so they could promote the MCU and people got really mad and didn't buy it.

MUA3 was a Swith Console exclusive. It's actually a great game, but limited it's player base.

Avengers was......Avengers. We all know why that game sucks.

GotG is a great game and I don't think it underperformed, did it? It's a very well liked game but if it didn't sell well then it's more than likely due to coming off the heels of Avengers and not enough people knowing it was totally different.

Midnight Suns is also a fantastic game, but its one of the most niche genres out there. Strategy games are not usually huge sellers on consoles. And when people learned this was a strategy game it turned a lot of them off.

Spider-Man did great, obviously, and so will Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine obviously. I'm personally glad we're getting Marvel games that aren't just your normal 3rd person action or open world games. Unfortunately anytime you stray from that the sales are going to reflect it. Especially when you make games with weird decisions like Infinite or just half assed games like Avengers. And if we're being honest, Avengers did sell well early on, based entirely on its name.

I beat it. Felt more like a task. Too light of a feel too. Gog was good for what it was. I would like an avengers game with the Spiderman type treatment, not exactly like it tho. Like I hope wolverine is heavier feeling like a God of war type fighting system but being able to jump

Extermin8or3_65d ago

Funny because did you know the lead combat designer for god of war 2018 also worked on avengers lol sure I saw that info somewhere

Sgt_Slaughter65d ago

Who could have seen that coming? It's not like this was doomed from Day 1.
