Should Capcom remake Resident Evil 5 next?

The Resident Evil 4 remake puts Capcom in an awkward position. Should they remake Resident Evil 5 next or should they consider other options?

They should remake it but as something totally different

Remove co-op and do the stuff in the RE4.5 beta, Zombies, Barry Burton, more Jill, Merchants, night time levels, Uroboros having a smaller role etc.

No point repeating the same mistakes, it's their chance to fix things without fully rebooting.

I wouldnt say totally different, but some changes like walking and shooting should be included.

If only they would do that with the hook-man and previous versions of RE4.
Those seemed way better than the RE4 that was released. RE4 is was let to all the bad decisions that led to RE5 and RE6. It becoming more action oriented vs survival horror. I know people loved RE4. RE4 was a good game but was a bad Resident Evil. Probably why the original ended up becoming Devil May Cry too.

RE 5 was great and I’d still take the co-op. The only one that needs actual massive change is 6. And not the co-op focus. The extremely linear and directed and scripted nature of its campaigns. Co-op is great in RE as 5 showed and on a purely mechanical level, RE 6 feels great. The combat and the movement feels the best it has in the entire series. But it’s the game designed around those mechanics that needs reworking

Honestly, if they write 5/6 out of the lineage, it would be a better deal. Maybe they will do that with the RE4 remake.

I say that with other studios like square, why not remake one of the old pixel FF or something. Bring life into those characters with designs but the I disagree to hell. In general games before ps3 era needs a remake or at least before ps2 era. While the rest after should be remastered

I tried to play through zero a few months ago and it is so boring and tedious I quit. Ive done 1-3 all over now and am just waiting for the remake of 4 to jump back in. Code veronica def needs a remake along with 0

A modern 1 remake would be nice apparently close Veronica is not in the works.
I'd like 5 eventually I genuinely enjoyed it but not enough time has passed to warrant a remake and a remaster has technically already been done on PS4 and x1 which was just PC high

Best coop experience for me on ps3 played this to death with friends. Those days have gone now but I'd love to see a remake

Agreed. This is probably my favorite co-op game. Playing with a close friend made this a tense but rewarding experience, even though the RE universe/setting was a bit different. The marsh level is still up in there as one of my most memorable co-op experiences.

The jump in graphical and mechanical quality is much larger between PS2 and PS4 than PS3 and PS4/PS5.

RE5 still looks great on original release consoles.

I hope not. Heck they shouldn't have even remade 4. 4 is what lead to all the bad changes that was 5 and 6.
They should of remade Code Veronica or the Outbreak & Outbreak File#2. Specially since those games had bad AI and online wasn't as much of a thing back on PS2 when the Outbreak games originally release.

I definitely would enjoy a remake as I still consider RE5 as one of top co op games out there. It did so many things right as far as co op mechanics. However , I'm fine with waiting until the fans of the older RE games get their remake first.

Personally, i think the only games that are worth remaking are the old ones.
Not Resident Evil 1 (GameCube version) and 0, they're still good, why waste resources on them? I've already beat Resident Evil 4 and 5 multiple times and new coat of paint will not be worth it, IMO. And RE 5 still feels good (controls, graphics, audio). And they did release a PS4 version of RE 5 not that long ago.

I want new games in the series, new stories, i'm kind of fed up with nostalgia, due to influx of remakes/remasters.

Resident Evil 1 remake is one of my favorite games of all time. I remember playing it on GameCube when it came out and I was in heaven. Such a great game.

Would love to see a Resident Evil 0 reboot that scraps 90% of the original game and more closely follows the exploits of Bravo Team in/around the mansion. This would kill two birds with one stone by; A) downgrading the need to do a full-on RE1 Remake in the same vein as the other reboots (since you could cover most of the Spencer Mansion by following Bravo Team members), and B) fix the awful story arch of RE0 and course-correct it to be more grounded and interesting.

They should remake 6, it would be more value for your money and it will give them a chance to better organize one of the finale acts of the older Resident Evil lore. 5 doesn't need to be remade honestly, was playing it a few days ago with a friend and the game and its direction serves its purpose pretty well.
Seeing Sheva again with the RE Engine would be nice but 6 was a much more robust title.

Code Veronica is the remake I want, I remember it being a good game that felt dated at the time. It's crying out for a remake. RE5 doesn't really need one, it's fine as it is.
