Atari pulls the plug on Atari VCS console manufacturing

What can only be summed up as one of the biggest failures when it comes to gaming consoles, the Atari VCS, is coming to an end, as Atari has decided to pull the plug. The company is said to have cancelled all of its "existing VCS manufacturing contracts", which means that after its current stock is sold out, it's unlikely that the company will make any more VCS consoles.

Not surprising. Im hoping they clearance out the remaining stock. I'd pick one up at that point.

Yeap, it was honestly not a terrible idea. Very similar to the Steam Deck in many senses, but the hardware that they had chosen was way too old and the software was at the very best half-baked.

It was a PC. I'm glad that they did 50 year anniversary collection for all platforms.

Probably the strangest retro console revival project to date Atari barely got it to launch in the first place and outside of a very niche crowd this had no appeal.

The 50th anniversaries collection is where it's at though for celebrating their history
