I just beat this back in the spring again. Hadn't played it since mid 2000s or so. Great fame. Imo it's one of the last great final fantasy games. Ten was cool but it started to change then twelve was just kinda eh for me. I will eventually give twelve another shot though but that's where all the changes really started. Wish square wouldn't of changed so much.

You really need to have some knowledge of simple Boolean Algebra if you want to play Final Fantasy 12 and have the ability to make modifications when fighting a boss. Sure you can go turn base but the the shear number of enemies you have to fight would drive you mental.

Also turning off those attack lines in FF12 is IMHO essential (some players don't mind them) and can be done in the settings menu.

I actually liked FF4 through FF8 but unfortunately missed out on FF9. I also liked FF10, FF12 and surprisingly FF13 (on my second playthough).

I tried playing FF15 but for some reason could not get interested (maybe later). Oh well back to souls/bourne games :)

This is exactly how I feel about the single player FF games post XI. X was definitely where the changes started happening. It was more linear and then added voice acting. FF1-9 you would unintentionally use your imagination to recreate the worlds in your head, bc of the graphics, lack of voice acting, and the way the world map was. It was like reading a book. Post XI and it started to become a "Square Enix movie". That's the difference between og FF7 and the remake.

I immediately stopped playing "remake" when I realized they got creative in the story. It was so dissapointing after the first act gave me exactly what I wanted: My beloved game in updated graphics. Then I had to do chores to receive my money from AVALANCHE and it went downhill from there...

Yeh 12 was where they lost me. I loved FF until then but couldn't even be bothered with finishing 12.

FreeFallFrenzy645d ago

I did the exact same! I always keep thinking that FFVII is my favorite of the bunch, but every time I play this I remind myself otherwise

I was of the same opinion about 12 until I replayed it again, the game is fantastic imo.

One of the best Final Fantasy games for sure. The new Final Fantasy games are mediocre compared to the older games.

If Square Enix & Nintendo are his hometown what does that make Xbox?

The red light district, where games go to w**** themselves for Gamepass cash.

Well Nintendo and Squaresoft is where he started. I totally understand why he doesn't want to do FF now. If so I'm happy for either a remaster of Last Story or a new entry/spiritual successor. Loved the battle system of Last Story.

porkChop15d ago

I just really want a new Lost Odyssey, or even a proper remaster with some QoL updates. Though I'd also love to see him work with Square on a new IP.

Profchaos15d ago

That's about as good as a confirmation that we will see ports to the switch2

Knightofelemia15d ago

Wish my parents bought me a NES as a kid I would have played the first FF game. But I was lucky to have a SNES I played a bit of FF6 and just went to Chrono Trigger. When the FF collection releases I-VI Collection Anniversary drops I will take my time to play each Final Fantasy.

Deathdeliverer15d ago

I mean… this is kinda obvious. The original final fantasy and its early sequels were on…
