Seems likely, still a good 8 months until June, and it seems likely this deal will go through. The only ones who seem to think it won't go through are randoms on Twitter lol.

June 2023 is longer than was first expected.

Orchard139d ago

@Venom No it isn't. The only official timeline given was:

"the deal is expected to close in fiscal year 2023".

Sonyslave3139d ago

It crazy because MS said they expect the deal to pass 1st quarter of 2023 when they first announced the deal and yet fake news keep pushing this narrative that it was 2022.

Correction it was originally expected to be June of 23 then MS expected to be done early next year because the deal was going really fast. With the CMA in their face stalling the deal they went back to the original expected date June of 23 acquisition closure.

I think it's so hard to predict what will happen on this one. The markets seem uncertain, there's money on the table if you think it'll go through with share price declining.

If you're so certain it'll go through, go buy stock in activision right now. You'd get a ~15% return if the deal goes through.

Microsoft and Blizzard pushing out info saying they're 'confident it will pass' is just an effort to push investors to believe in the deal with the idea that it helps stock price, and helps the market also, believe the deal will go through. I wouldn't say these articles mean anything at all in terms of what might actually happen.

But a lot of people who know a lot more than me or you aren't certain, and market authorities like the CMA are also very unpredictable.

Orchard139d ago

I do think the CMA (or some other regulator) will enforce some form of restriction, probably an agreement that COD stays on all platforms - but I think MS would be fine with that, I don't see them yanking the cash cow from other platforms.

I hope so. Another big nail in coffin incoming.

By how excited and optimistic Kotick seems to be that MS deal will go through, I wiuld say it will pass in most regions but each region may impose certain limitations on them, which might make things very complicated in some markets.

Typical corporate ass face all talks and no walk. a good percentage of game industry exec fullfill this profile. He might not even have hold a game controller in his chubby little hands but he has kissed enough asses to seat in the control room. Enjoy your juicy and greasy spare ribs fatty Bobby !

I'm not sure why, but as he's started bulking up lately, he's starting to remind me of Wart from Super Mario Bros. 2

I'm thinking we'll get a definitive statement around E3.
