From VGC: "Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition is seemingly coming to Xbox consoles, according to a newly discovered rating.
A tweet by Gematsu noted that European rating organisation PEGI has added Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One ratings to its existing Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition rating decision."
I will play the fajitas out of this.
These kind of games always better with keyboard and mouse, kind of like theme park style management games, first person shooters too. Wonder if it will have support for kb&mouse on Xbox.
As someone who has already put several thousands of hours into this game and can attest to it's steep learning curve, using a controller on top of that isn't going to make it any easier. You might be able to scrape by in Single Player Skirmishes and the Campaigns, but if you want to make any meaningful improvements to your ability to play, you'll need a mouse, keyboard, and an easy to memorize hotkey profile for all of the units, buildings, formations, game commands, control groups and various other functions that you'll need to play the game well.
Using a controller to play in multiplayer against those using a mouse and keyboard already puts you at a significant disadvantage. Since AoE2 DE already has a mixed community of MS Windows Players and Steam players, I have no doubt they will include console players in there too.
Remember playing this on PS2, was one of my fave games of all time.
